Abstract

This study focuses on William Chang's ecclesiological research: "Doing Theology of Peace in the Middle of Conflict". There are two objectives of this research. First, to investigate the roots and sources of conflicts that have occurred in West Kalimantan, and the second is to offer a peaceful theology method proposed by William Chang to readers in order to resolve and anticipate the emergence of similar conflicts. This research has its context in West Kalimantan. The reason why the author chose West Kalimantan as the object of research is firstly because West Kalimantan has experienced bloody and deadly conflicts that have resulted in a loss of peace there. In such a situation, the Church is called to proclaim and maintain the order of peaceful life as mandated by Christ. The method used in this research is qualitative research methods. Here priority is given to research related to the results of previous research on the conflicts in West Kalimantan. Furthermore, the writer presents what the Church teaches regarding how to respond to social problems. Departing from these two theses, the writer then conducts a critical analysis by comparing it with the theological methods offered by William Chang. After going through a series of analyzes, this research finds that William Chang's method provides a contextual theological offer for the people of West Kalimantan.

Abstract

His leadership became a storehouse of knowledge for humans today. His loyalty to God became the basis for success in leading the Israelites. The tendency to use feelings over reason so that in the end Samson fell for the seduction of death. Samson's carelessness brought disaster upon himself. The purpose of this writing is to open the horizons of thinking about leadership that prioritize peace and justice in living together. The author in this paper uses a literature review. Abstract

The focus of this paper is Paul Ricour's philosophy of political ethics; addressing the phenomenon of injustice towards others in practical politics in Indonesia. The author reviews it using a text analysis method based on the book Oneself as Another. In the book, Ricoeur defines political ethics as "living well together with and for others in just institutions". This means that a good life is not only directed to oneself but also directed to others. Who else? Others refer to people who are marginalized socially, culturally and politically. For example, in a cultural context, it is racism or discrimination against the Papuan people. They are often referred to as the monkey nation. The term monkey is understood as a form of denial of their identity as humans. They were eliminated from the house of Indonesia which is under the umbrella of Pancasila. Others also appear on the issue of majority and minority, especially regarding religion. The position of the other as an object shows the decadence of moral ethics in practical political life in Indonesia. According to Ricoeur self and others must be in a symmetrical relationship to achieve mutual prosperity (bonum commune).

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine primordial issues in electoral political contestation in a plural Indonesian society. Electoral political contestation became a breeding ground for primordial issues. The majority wants to be led by a leader who is of the majority religion. Religious and tribal issues are used to win political contests. Indigenous and pagan narratives are echoed and lead to division. This aticle uses qualitative methodology with a leterer study approach referring to Emmauel Levinas' ethical theory of responsibility for analyzing data. The levinian ethic of responsibility expresses the idea of placing others as unique and different subjects altogether through their visible faces. The consequence is that the other must be respected and valued as subjects. At the same time the presence of others becomes the responsibility of "me", not absorbing others to equate with myself or even subjugate or master. Data is obtained from internet searches such as news and surveys conducted by LSI (Indonesian Survey Institute). This article finds that the understanding of politics is reduced only to the understanding of electoral political contestation alone. Poltik lost its meaning as a form of living together to achieve the common good (Bonum Commune). The article proposes that Indonesian education incorporate political education into the national education curriculum and multicultural education is further emphasized in schools so that primordial issues do not develop rapidly, and future generations can accept Indonesia's plural reality.

Abstract

This paper discusses the main factors that encourage Migrant Workers from East Nusa Tenggara Province, especially those from South Central of Timor District to migrate irregularly. We conducted this study in 6 migrant workers' villages in TTS in May 2018. It applied mixed-methods, qualitative and quantitative approaches. The study involved about 360 respondents who are retired migrant workers or the families of migrant workers. The study found that approximately 42% of the 360 respondents answered that the migrant workers from the six villages did not have a birth certificate. About 67% of the migrant workers had an ID card from their area of origin. Surprisingly, approximately 33% of migrant workers from those six villages get their identity cards and migration documents from other provinces in Indonesia. Generally, most of the migrant workers from those villages have low levels of education and skills. As many as 28.3% of respondents answered that their household only holds IDR 100,000 in cash a month. The recruiters understand that rural communities have a low level of cash holdings, so they disrupt the civic virtue of Oko Mama in the Atoni Meto culture. Through the Oko Mama, recruiters give some money to the families, parents, husbands, or wives of migrant workers. That money then becomes a debt for the migrant workers. They should repay the money after working work abroad.
