Abstract

According to Bonaventure, theological reasoning requires grace in order to arrive at wisdom, namely knowledge and love. This shows that there is an integral relationship between theology and spirituality. Spirituality is used as the basis for theological reflection. In other words, theology begins with the spiritual life. Theology directs humans to meet God and manifest love in everyday life. So that theology cannot be reduced only as an intellectual thought. In addition, reason must be equipped with faith in order to reach perfection and enable humans to understand reality correctly. Bonaventure’s contemplative method directs humans to transcend the limitations of logic and reason.

Abstract

This study examines the impact of value-free science on the development of nuclear weapons by several developed countries. The aim is to understand the reasons and motives behind these countries' pursuit of nuclear weapons. The production of nuclear weapons by these countries has reached a significant level, indicating underlying factors that drive their competition. The methodology employed in this study is a literature review. By examining the effects of value-free science, particularly in relation to the development of nuclear weapons, information was gathered from various sources. The study reveals that the production and proliferation of nuclear weapons by several developed countries for military purposes can be attributed to the influence of value-free science. In this context, value-free science implies that these countries have prioritized their own interests over social welfare.

Abstract

This article aims to reflect further Heidegger's thought on the crisis of metaphysics and philosophy as a task of thinking. Philosophy since ancient times, even today, has been oriented to seek and formulate the essential and universal concept. Is it true that searching for the ontotheological nature is the most important task of philosophy? Is it true that these single principles can reflect the truth? By using the method of library researh and critical analysis of Heidegger's works and studies on the crisis of metaphysics, this article shows that philosophy essentially does not aim to formulate absolute, universal and single notion. Philosophy is also not a project of producing standard, abstract, sophisticated and technical concepts. The important task of philosophy is to encourage men to think, an art of understanding. Thinking is not a calculative thinking (instrumental-technical rationality) but meditative and reflective thinking. Under philosophy as the task of thinking, Being, namely the totality of reality, is responded with amazement, humility and simplicity. Philosophy must liberate itself from the metaphysical trap of totalitarian power which tends to hegemonize others in the name of a single truth, to philosophy that celebrates the plurality of truths with humility dan simplicity. That is the real meaning of philosophy as philo-sophia, the love of wisdom.

Abstract

When we read that the weather is not in good condition, often our hearts are touched to do something for the Earth, our home. However, it means that we are making the Earth as an object that exists independently of us? This perspective tends to place humans “higher” than non-human entities. Graham Harman dismantles that duality and proposes a way return to its being, asserting that both have an equivalent ontological basis that can no longer be reduced. This thought does not want to show that we are helpless in the face of nature, but we can do some action through aesthetics. This paper will use a fully literature-based method and rotate around the axis of Graham Harman’s thinking, especially the principles of Object-Oriented Ontology (OOO). This new proposition is expected to provide us with a better basis for how we perceive nature

Abstract

This research traces the key developments in phenomenological thought from its inception with Edmund Husserl to its evolution under Maurice Merleau-Ponty. The primary objective is to understand the continuity and divergence in their perspectives, and the influence on phenomenology’s progression as a philosophical tradition. The study employs a conceptual and thematic analysis method to elucidate these developments by examining their foundational texts. The findings reveal a nuanced understanding of this evolution, highlighting both Husserl’s establishment of transcendental phenomenology focused on pure consciousness and Merleau-Ponty’s transformative turn toward embodied experience. By synthesizing connections between their projects, this analysis provides a comprehensive view of the arc of phenomenological thought. Keywords: Phenomenology, Husserl & Merleau-Ponty, Intentionality, Consciousness, Embodiment

Abstract

In his critique of the mass media, Habermas maintains that the media is inappropriate for democracy. Because of its proclivity to favor money and political power, Habermas believes that the media can no longer serve as a democratic outlet. Sandra L. Borden showed that the media, whatever it is, is able to assist democracy. Journalism has a solid heritage as long as it adheres to democratic, citizenship, knowledge, and freedom principles. In that sense, both Habermas and Borden believe journalism to be extinct. The article aims to find a way out of Habermas and Borden's simultaneous assessment of journalism's end. Today, when untruths may be camouflaged as facts and the people choose social media to determine the truth, the function of journalism expected by Habermas and Borden is truly required. What is democracy if there are no watchdogs? The author is looking to highlight the importance of self-improvement in the press and journalism through the way of analyzing literature sources. Both Habermas and Borden maintain that the press and journalism must follow a democratic path if they are to be independent and not be influenced by money and political power. In accordance to the author, an appropriate channel within a democratic framework is required to ensure that every truth and public opinion eventually contributes to the healthy growth of democracy.

Abstract

Kata Kunci: Tuan-Budak, ressentiment, afirmatif, kaotis, amor fati, great reason, small reason, realitas.

Abstract

Nietzsche’s relation with Christianity, on the the surface, easily defined as antipodal, full of animosity. It is not a simple task to specify which Christianity that can represent a stable concept of Christianity. Numerous branches as well as different school of thoughts in the body of Christianity. Nietzsche had his own view on certain Christianity (coloured by his Lutheran Protestant), he was not seldom launched attack after attack to Christianity and blame it as caused of Nihilism in Europe. Christianity according to his view has become one of the obstacles that hindered the arrival of the Overman, therefore he anointed himself to wage war with the aim to dig deep the foundation of Christianity. He did not merely assault Christianity and belief in God as some concepts that is no longer hold, but he wished to make changes and transvalue all the values which had deeply rooted in the soul of Europe. In order to pull down, to root out, change and inspire Europe, he wrote a seminal book called “Antichrist.” Nietzsche in his war strategy, he always picked a real person as Socrates, Richard Wagner, or even Schopenhauer. For Christianity, he picked Paul and Paulinism which he regarded as promoting the concept of Cross, Resurrection and promise of Hinterwelt which according to him is a great move as well as cunning. He tried to uproot Christainity with his method, which later on he called it as Genealogy. In doing so, he discovered that Paul was a true revaluator, who reevaluated the master morality into slave morality. Nietzsche has his own notion of an ideal man, who has the spirit of Dionysos, in short, he wanted to transvalue the slave morality back to master morality. In suggesting this option to Europe, a better choice, Spirit of Dionysos, he then conducted transvaluation. In that regard, Nietzsche did a similar and kinship “Hegelian Dialectic” with Paul. Therefore, Nietzsche relation with Paul is no longer can be categorized as merely antipodal, since he showed some kind of disguised adoration, an ambiguity.
