The focus in this study is to analyze and describe the difficulties experienced by students of class VIII in solving questions about statistical material. This research uses a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. Analysis of the results of student answers used according to three categories of learning difficulties according to Wood (2012). The data used in this study were the results of tests in the form of problem statements consisting of 5 items and were given to the subjects of this study as many as 5 students. The data obtained were then analyzed starting from data reduction, data exposure and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that from the subject of 5 students only 69% of the questions were able to be solved and none of the students were able to solve the problem completely. This happens because the average student has difficulty understanding the purpose of the problem and it is difficult to determine how to solve it.

This Study focuses on the use of mathematics learning media in increasing students' mathematical understanding in the learning of the Pythagorean theorem. The research subjects were taken as many as 15 students of class VII in one school in the district of Donggo. The research subjects were randomly drawn to participate in learning using manipulative media. There are two learning media designed for research, namely ICT and Non-ICT media. The results of this study indicate that the use of instructional media can improve students 'mathematical understanding, this is indicated by an increase in the average value of students' mathematical understanding before the use of media 36,93 and after using the media of 80,33. In addition, the results of this study also indicate that there is an influence of the use of instructional media to increase student understanding of learning theoremagas theorem, this is based on the results of the calculation of t-sample test related to Paired-Sample Analysis of two-tailed T-test T-test obtained by ttcount = -12,88 and ttable = 1.753 for a significant level of 5% with df = 14, where 12,88 ≥ -1.753.

In accordance with the problem limitation, the objective in this study is to find out the percentage of errors made by students in solving mathematical problems in the algebraic function limit material. Descriptive research with a qualitative type approach used in this study. One high school in West Bandung regency, Darul Falah High School, is the subject of this study. A diagnostic test was given in the form of a matter description of the algebraic function limit to 21 students as a sample. The object to be reviewed is an error made by the student in solving the problem. The type of error is taken from the classification written by Herman Hudoyo, namely there are concept errors, procedural errors, and operating errors. From the results obtained, the percentage of student errors in completing mathematical problems material limits on algebraic functions in the concept type by 34.5% is categorized high enough for the type of procedure to get 36.9% categorized quite high while the type of operation by 61.9% is categorized very low. This indicates, students still have difficulty in operating a number, especially in numbers with positive and negative signs. Inaccurate and lack of understanding of students is the cause of errors that arise so that there is a need for follow-up to overcome these errors so that similar errors do not occur.

The use of the lecture method causes low participation, student progress, student attention, and interest cannot be monitored. The inactivity of students during the learning process is one of the factors that can cause students to difficult to understand the concept of material. If this happens it can result in less than optimal learning outcomes obtained. The type of research used is True-experimental Design with Pretest-Posttest control group Design type. The independent variable in this study is the PQ4R model with a scientific approach. While the dependent variable is learning outcomes. The population in this study were students of class VIII. The sample of this research is a class of 25 students. Determination of the sample using a cluster type random sampling technique. Data collection instruments include lesson plans, observation sheets of student activities, observation widths of teacher activities, pre-test, and post-test learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used an independent sample t-test which was previously tested by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov method with the help of SPSS for windows version 17.0. The results showed: (1) The teacher can carry out PBM activities well and in accordance with the learning plan in accordance with the syntax. (2) Student activities are in accordance with what is expected from the frequency of the many activities that illustrate PBM with the PQ4R strategy with a scientific approach. This shows that the PQ4R strategy can affect student learning outcomes

This study aims to determine whether learning using the PMRI approach is more effective than conventional learning on students ' problem-solving abilities and whether learning using the PMRI approach is more effective than conventional learning on students' self-efficacy. This study is a quasi-experimental study with a nonequivalent control group design. The independent variable is the PMRI approach, and the dependent variable is the students' problem-solving ability and self-efficacy. The population was class VIII student of SMP Negeri 15 Yogyakarta in 2018/2019, and samples of classes VIII D, VIII F and VIII I. The instrument was a matter of pretest-posttest problem-solving abilities and prescale-post scale self-efficacy, RPP , and LKS. Data analysis techniques used the t-test with the help of SPSS 16.0 software. The results are that learning using the PMRI approach is more effective than conventional learning on students ' problem-solving abilities, and learning using the PMRI approach is no more effective than conventional learning on students' self-efficacy.

This study to describe the ability of matehamtical resilience in improving students’ mathematical connection abilities. This research was conducted in the odd semester of the 2019/2020 school year. The population in this study were al students of class XI SMAN 21 Bekasi with a sample of the 30 students. The research instrument used was a test of mathematical connection ability test and student mathematical resilience questionnaire. The research method used is qualitative design and descriptive statical data analysis. Data were analyzed using data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The result showed that : 1) students with high esilience had an average mathematical connection ability of 36%, 2) students with moderate resilience had an average mathematical connection of 34%, 3) students with low resilience had an average mathematical connection of 30% and 4) the results showed there were positive contributions of students with good mathematical resilience to students’ mathematical connection abilities.

The purpose of this study was to determine the ability of students' mathematical connection in solving story problems. The research method used is descriptive qualitative. The study was conducted in junior high school Christian Soe 1with the source of the data was a student of class VII B as many people as 27 people. Data collection techniques using observation, mathematics connection ability test and interviews. The research instrument was observation sheets, mathematical connection ability questions and interviews. The research instruments were observation sheets, mathematical connection ability questions, and interview guidelines. Data analysis techniques include Miles and Huberman models with data validity testing using the technique triangulation model. The results of the analysis show that students' high mathematical connection ability of students in solving story problems is high for indicators looking for the relationships of various representations of concepts and procedures, understanding relationships between mathematical topics, understanding the equivalent percentage of a concept and looking for relationships of one procedure with other procedures in equivalent representation while low for indicators of applying mathematics in other fields of study or in everyday life as well as in applying relationships between mathematical topics with topics outside mathematics.

This research is a classroom action research with descriptive qualitative method, which aims to ilustrate how improved students mathematical understanding abilities when using Contextual Teaching and Learning (CTL) approach to the material of straight line equations. The subjects of this study is 32 students of class VIII-C Junior High School Pasundan 9 Bandung. The instruments used in this study is 5 essay questions that referref to indicators of mathematical understanding ability that is given at the beginning of learning and the end of learning, which is then analyzed by calculating the average of each question indicator. The result of this study indicate that students mathematical understanding ability can be improved using a contextual teaching and learning approach.

This study aims to determine the difficulty of students in solving the problem description on the material to build a flat sided space. Indicators of difficulty in research are difficulties in understanding concepts, difficulties in applying principles and difficulties in skills. This research method using qualitative descriptive method. This research is conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Cihampelas in Grade VIII of academic year 2019-2020. The population of this study was all eighth grade junior high school students in West Bandung Regency. The subject of the research is the students of class VIII-10, namely students who have high mathematical abilities, moderate mathematical abilities, and low mathematics. To obtain research data an instrument was used in the form of test item description. The results of this study prove that subjects with high mathematical ability are able to apply principles and are skilled in solving problems, but still have difficulty understanding concepts and mathematical abilities are already able to understand concepts but in applying principles are still having difficulties and also experiencing skills difficulties, whereas low mathematically capable subjects have not been able to apply concepts and in applying principles are also still experiencing difficulties and experiencing difficulty in skills.

This study aims to analyze the difficulties of high school students in solving problems based on solving the material sequence and sequence with stages according to Polya. This type of research is a qualitative descriptive study. The analysis was carried out by giving a written test in the form of a question description with a total of 5 questions and interviews, then analyzing the results of tests and interviews with students. The method of data collection is done by a painted test accompanied by an interview. The results of the analysis show that: (1) students' ability to understand problems is low, that is around 28%, (2) ability to plan low resolution around 32%, (3) ability to solve problems very low around 16%, (4) ability to re-examine very low which is around 8%.
