Abstract

This research of literature study discusses about the function and application of infrared sensor-based motion detection devices for work safety on industrial cam machinery.This device was designed to assist the industry in preventing the work accidents that occur due to hazardous industrial machinery. The detector uses a PIR (Passive Infra-Red) sensor as a motion detector of the human limbs. On its application, PIR sensor is placed on a specific side of the machine. Then, the system will provide an automatic cut-off alarms on the machine when a person crosses the fabric area that has been detected by the sensor. It was expected that this way will protect the manpower from the occurrence of work accidents which are caused by dangerous industrial machines. With the implementation of this infrared sensor design, the analysis of hazardous machinery is becoming increased so that this infrared sensor based working security system is growing and easier for shaping in many designs.

Abstract

In the production of motorcycles at PT XYZ, there are various manufacturing processes and one of them is the Assy Wheel process. The Assy Wheel process for the K93X type performed on PT XYZ has a fairly low track efficiency. This happens because there are some unbalanced work stations where the conditions are quite detrimental to the company, so they need to be minimized or eliminated. One way to minimize unbalanced work stations is by balancing work tracks with the RPW (Ranked Positional Weight) method. This method is done by making a precedence diagram, determining the weighting of positions for each work element, sorting work elements by ranking position, placing work elements on a work station, placing the remaining time on an operation in the next sequence at the work station. After the analysis process is carried out on the Assy Wheel Track, there is a work element at the work station that needs to be changed and balanced. Work elements are combined at the next work station so that the track efficiency increases from 74% to 95%, the number of work stations and labor is reduced from four to two

Abstract

Product quality is one of the important aspects for the company because it involves the existence, performance, productivity and profit of the company. Quality is obtained by having quality control to minimize products and produce products according to specifications. PT. Mitra Part Perkasa as a company that provides a service of chrome plating on plastics. The company is having a new quality issue of new reject that happened on hexavalent chrome process, namely yellow reject during September and October 2019 which had never happened before. The percentage of yellow rejects that happened was more than company tolerant limits of 1.5%. To overcome this problem, using DMAIC is applied to reduce the number of rejects. The first step of DMAIC is the goal of the problem and agreed upon research objectives. The second step is to measure current quality with a control chart and decide yellow rejects as the main focus of research using pareto diagram. The third step is to analyze the yellow root causes using why why analysis and fishbone diagram. The fourth step is improvement based on each factor, man, material, method, and machine. The last step is control, this step will show the results of the improvements indicated by before the repairs were made. Based on the results, the percentage of yellow reject decreased from 2.77% to 0.55% and it can be concluded that DMAIC has succeeded in reducing yellow rejects.

Abstract

CV. Bandung Mulia Konveksi is one of the clothing convection company located in Bandung which produces three types of products includes jackets, screen printing t-shirts and shirts. The products are produced by passing the same workstation namely the workstation of pattern, cutting, screen printing, and sewing. Based on data on the amount of production and data on the number of defective products in the last five years, CV. Bandung Mulia Konveksi can be seen that only screen printing t-shirts that have a percentage of disability outside the company's tolerance limit. Defects that occur on screen printing t-shirts can be known based on the work area. Quality improvement can be done using New Seven Tools to identify problems and 5S concepts for proposed improvements. The 5S checklist audit results and the giving of the 5S score on the conditions prior to the 5s applications a score of 20% is obtained, which means it is very bad. Whereas after the 5S implementation and the 5S audit checklist were carried out and the 5S score was given, the score increased to 62% which means good.

Abstract

Aggregate planning makes companies possible to arrange the way of optimally utilizing company resources in order to achieve effective and efficient capacity which is made based on future demand forecasts. Pak Tabah Tofu Factory is a home factory that produces White Tofu and Yellow Tofu. This factory is still operating traditionally without clear bookkeeping and planning. Demand forecasting and aggregate planning are made to predict the next period’s production by adjusting the number of workers so that the tofu production at the Pak Tabah Tofu Factory becomes more efficient. The selected method used by this research was selected trough the smallest MAPE score, named the Moving Average Method with a value of 0.136 and 0.11. In the aggregate planning, Mixed Strategy was chosen because this strategy produces the lowest production plan value of Rp, 554,526,200,- and Rp. 528,732,000,-. This strategy is the best strategy to be use by Pak Tabah’s Tofu Factory because not only produces for the delivery but also for the stock.

Abstract

In this study, the researchers aimed to investigate the awareness of the Malaysian manufacturing industries with regards to the implementation of the Industry 4.0 concept and also determine its levels. Different sectors of the Malaysian manufacturing sector like the Government Link Companies (GLCs), Small and Medium-scale Enterprises (SMEs), and other national or Multinational Corporations (MNCs) were included in this study. The researchers applied a survey-based research methodology and their sample size consisted of 91 Malaysian corporations. The participants in this study comprised of the managers and employees, as company representatives, and they were asked to complete the questionnaire and participate in the interview. The results of the survey showed that around 50.5% of respondents were aware and familiar with the Industry 4.0 regulations. Also, according to the survey results, the awareness regarding the Industry 4.0 regulations was mainly due to the foreign sectors including the multinational corporations like the electrical and electronic industries which contained several advanced assets and increased productivity. These results were very helpful for further research, especially for creating a future framework that could assimilate the ideas related to Industry 4.0 amongst the various other Malaysian industries belonging to the manufacturing sector.

Abstract

In recent years, because of the changes in the environment and an increase in the global population, there is an increase in the threat of water scarcity. Therefore, there a need for developing water supply systems that is sustainable and resilient. Rainwater harvesting (RWH) systems are a decentralized sustainable water supply system that has the potential to be implemented. Industries, as one of the sectors that will be affected, could potentially gain many benefits through the implementation of RWH systems. This paper is a literature review that has the objective of explaining the general concept of RWH systems and understanding several aspects that go into planning a rainwater harvesting system. RWH system is an old concept that has benefits and disadvantages. In planning an RWH system, there are many considerations and calculations. The catchment area, water storage, treatment train needs to be carefully chosen. In some cases of implementation, it has been observed that RWH systems have resulted in water and financial savings. There is much potential for further study of the implementation of RWH systems in industrial settings.

Abstract

Permasalahan defect produksi merupakan salah satu faktor penyebab biaya produksi meningkat. Defect produksi yang tidak sesuai dengan yang telah ditargetkan berpengaruh pada daya saing perusahaan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa tingkat kegagalan kegagalan proses produksi CLIP R1 berdasarkan nilai Risk Priority Number (RPN) tertinggi dan memberikan usulan perbaikan sehingga proses produksi menjadi lebih baik. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (FMEA) sebagai dasar prioritas perbaikan. Berdasarkan hasil FMEA diketahui bahwa produksi Burry & Short dan produk NG terpacking saat pemeriksaan oleh operator merupakan jenis kegagalan yang mempunyai nilai RPN yang paling tinggi (336). Perbaikan produksi Burry & Short dengan cara menetapkan pemakaian mesin A1 & C2, pergantian komponen dan membuat standar maintenance mold (overhaul) dan mengajukan repair mold ke IRC. Perbaikan pada produk NG saat pemeriksaan dapat dilakukan dengan cara pengecekan nomor urut, pemisahan produk NG dan Ok serta pemeriksaan setiap 1/2 hari ganti model. Prioritas perbaikan ini mampu menurunkan tingkat defect dibawah 1% sesuai dengan target perusahaan. Pemilihan metode FMEA efektif memperbaiki proses produksi berdasarkan prioritas perbaikan sesuai dengan hasil RPN.

Abstract

Total Quality Management (TQM) adalah pendekatan yang dapat menunjang suatu perusahaan untuk dapat meningkatkan berbagai aspek di perusahaan seperti kinerja karyawan, kualitas produk dan layanan, dan lain-lain. Penelitian dilakukan untuk mengetahui terkait pengaruh Total Quality Management (TQM) terhadap kinerja karyawan dan kepuasan karyawan di PT. Nagai Plastic Indonesia yang mungkin dapat menjadi acuan dalam pengambilan keputusan manajemen guna meningkatkan kualitas produk maupun pelayanan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan metode SEM-PLS yang berfungsi untuk dapat mengetahui nilai pengaruh Total Quality Management (TQM) terhadap kinerja karyawan maupun kepuasan karyawan sehingga dapat menjadi tolak ukur manajemen puncak dalam menigkatkan kualitas produk dan pelayanan perusahaan. Hasil analisa dengan menggunakan metode yang telah di tentukan adalah adanya pengaruh positif dan signifikan antara Total Quality Management (TQM) terhadap kinerja karyawan dan kepuasan karyawan. Penelitian ini menunjukkan pentingnya penerapan TQM, khususnya dalam industri manufaktur, yang secara langsung dapat meningkatkan kinerja dan kepuasan karyawan. Dalam jangka panjang, hal ini juga akan meningkatkan kepuasan pelanggan.

Abstract

Ensuring the continuous supply of materials in the manufacturing system is a very important factor in ensuring the smooth production process and product fulfillment to consumers. A motorcycle manufacturing company that has several plastic parts injection suppliers, but the problem is that some plastic parts suppliers only take from one material supplier with the trademark ABS-J. This single supplier is very risky in terms of the ability to supply materials and also the possibility of a price monopoly that can be done by material suppliers because they have no competitors. With the PDCA approach, research is conducted to determine the addition of alternative ABS materials to ensure material supply availability and also obtain potential benefits that can be obtained by implementing multi-ABS material suppliers. With the trial and error method of using other alternative materials, namely ABS Star and also fish bone analysis, can get the same quality results as ordinary ABS-J material, by changing the injection machine parameter settings. The parameter setting is oriented towards reducing the temperature of the material by lowering the temperature of the barrel to (230-225-220-200 ° C), reducing the injection speed (45-55-45-35) and using Holding Pressure (70 Pa) for ABS Star material.
