Abstract

The Upanat is a special type of footwear designed specifically for climbing the structure of the Borobudur Temple. The design of the Upanat focuses on sponge-type footwear, material resistance to physical and chemical processes, and wearing comfort. The primary purpose of using Upanat is to minimize the friction between the temple stones and footwear, thus preventing wear and tear and maintaining the structure of the Borobudur Temple. This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using Upanat at the Borobudur Temple, and a descriptive qualitative approach was used to collect data through direct interviews, observations, and documentation. The determination of the effectiveness of Upanat use at the Borobudur Temple was carried out in three stages: reducing data, presenting data, and drawing conclusions. The results of this research show that Upanat is highly effective in reducing wear and tear on the stairs and floors of the Borobudur Temple, as it uses materials that cause minimal friction.

Abstract

The emergence of Muslim-friendly tourism as a significant trend in the global tourism industry has gained significant traction due to the rising number of Muslim travelers seeking destinations that align with their religious and cultural values. Mandeh Island in West Sumatra Province, Indonesia, renowned for its stunning natural beauty, has begun to focus on developing Muslim-friendly tourism. This study examines the opportunities and challenges associated with creating this type of tourism in the Mandeh Island tourism area, utilizing the Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) indicators as a framework. The research findings highlight the considerable potential of Mandeh Island to attract Muslim travelers owing to its captivating landscapes and relatively preserved environment. Access, Communication, Environment, Facilities, and services adhering to Islamic principles have begun to be established, including alcohol-free accommodation, prayer areas, and halal dining options. However, challenges such as the need for enhanced infrastructure, limited accessibility, and local awareness of the needs of Muslim travelers still impact their overall experience. Effective marketing communication is also essential to reaching the global market of Muslim tourists. Consequently, this study concludes that while Mandeh Island holds substantial potential for Muslim-friendly tourism, collaborative efforts involving the government, private sector, and local communities are essential to address the existing challenges and maximize the available opportunities. This research contributes to the growing body of knowledge on niche tourism segments and provides practical recommendations for stakeholders in Pulau Mandeh to enhance their offerings and tap into the Muslim-friendly tourism market.

Abstract

The Flat Pattern course offers instruction in the theoretical and practical aspects of creating broken patterns in accordance with design specifications. To ensure optimal learning outcomes, it is essential to provide students with updated, engaging, and practical learning media. This updated learning medium has the potential to enhance student learning outcomes and address the challenges commonly encountered in flat-pattern courses. The objective of this study is to develop a video tutorial learning medium for the slash method pattern-breaking technique using the Richpeace CAD application in a flat pattern design course. This study employs the 4D Research and Development Model method, which comprises the following four stages: The four stages of the 4D Research and Development Model method are as follows: define, design, develop, and disseminate. The alpha test stage was employed to validate this video tutorial media product with the participation of two media experts and two material content validators. The study included 35 students from the IKK FPP UNP who had previously undertaken courses in Flat Pattern Design. The data were collected through the use of validation sheets completed by media experts and an analysis of the material content, as well as through the administration of questionnaires to students regarding video tutorial media. Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of workload on employee performance in the service and hospitality sector in Padang City. The research involved 200 employees selected through purposive sampling. The workload variable was measured through physical, mental, and time aspects, while employee performance was assessed using indicators of quantity, quality, timeliness, and teamwork. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the assistance of SPSS. The findings indicate that workload is predominantly in the high category (46%), while employee performance is mostly in the good (44%) and very good (33%) categories. Regression results show that workload has a significant effect on employee performance, with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05 and a negative regression coefficient (-0.421). This indicates that the higher the perceived workload, the lower the employee performance. Nevertheless, most employees are still able to maintain good performance through teamwork and work experience. This study highlights the importance of workload management through proportional task distribution, effective work scheduling, and managerial support to sustain and enhance employee performance in the service and hospitality sector
