Abstract

Octopus is one of the commodities caught in Pulo Aceh, Aceh Besar. The octopus catch is then traded in dry conditions. Preservation technique with drying method was carried out so as the octopus has longer life. That traditional preservation process will certainly affect the quality of dried octopus products, in which this product quality can be seen through parameters of nutritional value and microbial contamination of the product. The purpose of this study was to determine the quality of nutritional value and microbial contamination content of dried octopus products in Pulo Aceh. The method used was observation with random sampling. The nutritional value of microbes was tested using the proximate analysis method, and microbial contamination analysis used the Total Plate Number (ALT) calculation method. Based on the results of proximate analysis on dried octopus, the water content was 17.60%, the ash content was 11.55%, the protein content was 22.83%, the fat content was 4.11%, the crude fiber content was 0.11%, the carbohydrate content was 43.09%, and ALT value of 7.89 x 105 Cfu/g.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to evaluate the performance of Batak fish (Tor soro) blood glucose in response to stocking density stress. Fish with an average of 2.21 g with a weight of 27 individuals were given stocking density stress by inserting them into 9 cylindrical containers of 200.96 cm2 and 3 L volume of peat water with stocking differently for 72 hours. These stocking density treatments consisted of A (2 fishes/0.02 m2), B (3 fishes/0.02 m2), C (4 fishes/0.02 m2) and E (5 fishes/0.02 m2) with three repetitions. Blood glucose was collected from 1 fish per container during 72 hours. The preliminary test was conducted to determine the oxygen demand of fish through the oxygen consumption level test, in which the oxygen demand from the fish was calculated in accordance to the density used. The average value of blood glucose levels of Batak fish that were given the stress of stocking density 2 fishes/0.02 m2, 3 fishes/0.02 m2, 4 fishes/0.02 m2, and 5 fishes/0.02 m2 tend to be low, as much as 53 mg/dL, 52.67 mg/dL, 49.33 mg/dL and 39.63 mg/dL respectively. The response of blood glucose to stocking density stress resulted in stocking recommendations for culture Batak fish ranging from 100-250 fish/m2 with 2,21-3,12 fish/ gram.

Abstract

Macrozoobenthos are aquatic organisms that live on the bottom and surface of the waters, and are influenced by bottom substrate and water quality. This study aimed at determining the density of macrozoobenthos in Peunaga Rayeuk Waters, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency in terms of species composition, diversity, uniformity, and dominance. This research was conducted from May to June 2021 in the waters of Peunaga Rayeuk, Meureubo District, West Aceh Regency. Purposive random sampling was employed to collect the data in four stations. Based on the results of the study, 15 types of macrozoobenthos grouped into 3 classes were found, namely bivalves, gastropods and malokostraca. The macrozoobenthos density values at four stations ranged from 308.52 to 1357.49 ind/m2. The percentage value of macrozoobenthos composition by class showed that bivalves had the lowest percentage, as much as 13%, and the highest percentage was the gastropods, as much as 54%. The diversity index (H) ranged from 1.21 to 3.31 which was classified as medium to high category. The uniformity index (e) ranged from 0.81 to 0.92 and was classified as high category, while the Dominance Index (C) ranged from 0.21 to 0.54 and categorized as low to moderate category. The water quality parameter values was still in normal conditions and support the life of macrozoobenthos

Abstract

Abstract

The potential of fisheries in Bengkulu Province is very large. Kaur Regency is one of the regencies in Bengkulu Province, which has a trend of vannaamei shrimp (L. vannamei) production in Kaur Regency which always increases every year. Production of vannamei shrimp (L. vannamei) in 2019 reached 950 tons in 2021, it reached 4,524 tons. This study aims to determine what alternatives can be done for planning the construction of a vannamei shrimp (L. vannamei) freezing plant. This study uses the SWOT analysis method. The results showed that the strategy needed was aggressive. Alternative strategies are; to improve the quality of materials and equipment for cultivation processes; recruit competent workforce in the field of marketing for the expansion of the domestic market; improve the quality of human resources in facing the international market; the vast market share of shrimp provides an opportunity for Kaur Regency to develop a frozen shrimp processing industry which is also strongly supported by the government; build cold storage to accommodate the production of vannamei shrimp (L. vannamei); the government or related stakeholders can immediately build facilities such as an ice factory and add electricity to support the continuity of the shrimp industry in Kaur Regency; increase capital by borrowing from banks or partners to increase production or expand shrimp marketing; and build relationships between the government, stakeholders related to shrimp farmers to collect production results. Keywords: SWOT analysis; Alternative Processing Unit Development Planning
