Abstract

The shark has a yield  by-product from its  liver up to 20% of its body weight, 50% of the total fish oil found on the liver. The aimed of this study was to determine heavy metal content, fatty acid profilel, and parameter of oxidation after neutralization. The method of  heavy metal test for silky shark oil stated on the SNI and fatty acid analysis referred to AOAC. Neutralization used NaOH 18°Be temperature (40, 50, 60, 70, and 80°C). The result of oil neutralization with NaOH had heavy metal content meet to IFOS (0.1 ppm), fatty acid of SFA was 19.58% , MUFA was 19.26 %, and PUFA was 41.58 %. The oxidation result of silky shark liver oil neutralization indicated the best treatment at 50°C with peroxide value (PV), p-Anisidine value (p-AV), percentage of free fatty acid (% FFA), acid value (AV), and total oxidation (TOTOX) were 72,49±0,27 mEq/kg, 8,57±0,46 mEq/kg, 0,28±0,00%, 0,56±0,00 mg KOH/kg, 13,57±1,01 mEq/kg respectively.

Abstract

Sawang Ba'u is a coastal region village located in South Aceh. There are 1069 fishermen living in this village. This village given  major contribution to the production of fish in South Aceh, which amounted to 3,042 tons/year. Capital, work experience, price, and haul as a measure of the high and low fishermen revenue. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the effect of capital, work experience, price, and haul to fishermen revenue in the Sawang Ba'u South Aceh. Descriptive quantitative approach is used in this study with multiple linear regression model. Sample of this research are 30 fishermen that are taken from total population using incidental sampling method. Sample shown there are 80% samples earn IDR 51,000 up to IDR 70,000 per day. It is also shown 73% of samples have work experience for 11 to 20 years.  Everyday 45% of samples would be able to catch 6 kg of fish which reach IDR 25,000 up to IDR 35,000. The result of multiple linear regression shows that capital variable, work experience, price and haul simultaniously have effect on fishermen revenue at Sawang Ba’u village, South Aceh District. In conclusion, capital, sale price and haul of fishes effect the fishermen revenue.

Abstract

Capture fisheries are very important economic activity and have contributed greatly to the total fishery production in general in the District Naganraya. Fishery system that occurs dominated by small-scale fisheries. Fishermen in Naganraya district has a high dependence on fisheries resources as the main source of livelihood and almost all coastal areas based fisheries activities. Small-scale fisheries businesses have an impact on the fishing fleet and fishing locations (fishing ground) resulting in range of fishing operations is limited. The purpose of this research is 1). Analyzing small-scale capture fisheries system in locations PKN Naganraya district, 2). Formulate an alternative strategy in the management of small-scale fishing locations PKN Naganraya district. Data to be collected in this study consisted of primary and secondary data. Primary data was collected intensively using semi-structured interviews (semi-structured interview) to small-scale fishermen, observation and documentation in selected locations. The results showed that the dominant type of fishing gear is trawl catches beach and species that dominate the catch is Sardinella lemuru and Selar spp. Fish marketing patterns in locations peningkapan fishing activities (PKN) is not through the auction only through traders / large and are twelve strategic through internal and external environmental factors were dominant influence on the pattern of the conceptualization of small-scale fishery management in PKN location Nagan Raya.

Abstract

Kerling fish (Tor spp) is a species of freshwater fish, belonging to the family Cyprinidae. In Aceh Province there are three species of fish of very commercial i.e. Tor tambroides,Tor soro and Tor tambra. In this author's research focuses on Tor tambriodes. Survey results obtained by researchers in field description of the species is quite difficult to distinguish the character of males and females (unlike other Cyprinidae fish). Because that's what needs to be done comparative studies of characters within the same species morphometric and meristic approach. These are qualitative research (survey), is a method for the measurement of morphometric and character counting/meristic refers to the twinkle and Menezes (1974), and Jayaram (1981, 2002). The number of specimens to be analyzed i.e. 20 species (10 females: 10 males). The research results obtained that based on the characteristics of the morphometric there is no noticeable difference between females and males. However the qualitative character of morphometric visible presence of noticeable difference between females and males in character: body color, the profile of the muzzle, the thickness of the lips. While the study does not look meristic the existence of the real difference between females and males. Thus to view differences characterized the fish are females and the male Tor tambroides saw enough character body color (bright golden yellow: female, dark: male), the profile of the muzzle (convex: female, flat: male) and the profile lip up/down (thin, thick: females: males).

Abstract

Nowadays, a lot of research about the treatment a safe and environmentally sound which uses natural ingredients, one of which seaweed. In the last decade, a wide variety of structures is very unique bioactive compounds from algae isolates have been isolated. But, the resource utilization of bioactive compound from algae has not been done. This study aimed to test the ability of marine macroalgae P. australis Hauck in producing antibacterial compounds Vibrio harveryi. The existence of macroalgae P. australis antibacterial producer is expected to decrease the number of pathogenic bacteria, so as to decrease the likelihood of developing a disease that attacks fish. The research was conducted in two laboratories, the Laboratory of Biological MIPA Universitas Syiah Kuala, Banda Aceh and Brackish Water Aquaculture Institute (BBAP) Batee Ujong, Aceh Besar. Marine macroalgae taken from the waters around Labuhan Haji South Aceh District. The location was selected because of macroalgae in the area are plentiful because the waters are clean. Based on phytochemical test on  P. australis extract containing flavonoids, tannins and saponins. The results of measurements of inhibition zone formed in each treatment obtained the largest inhibition zone at 12:55 mm on a 80% concentration of the extract. While the smallest inhibitory zone at 6:19 mm at a concentration of 100%. Thus, inhibition zone on extracts of P. australis against V. harveyi bacteria at a concentration of 80% is the optimum inhibition of the extract.

Abstract

The research about of solution betel leaf (Piper betle L) With Different Doses To prevent the growth of fungi (Saprolegnia sp) on fish eggs Tawes (Puntius javanicus) are funded on June 18 to 21 Mai 2015 Meunasah Krueng Village housed in Beutong Subdistrict Nagan Raya District, aims to find out the dose of solution effective betel leaves to prevent fungal attack on fish eggs tawes so it can increase the power of fish eggs tetas tawes (Punius javanicus). The method used is an experimental method that is giving preferential treatment to solution the betel leaf with different doses against fish eggs tawes. Research results percentage of hatching eggs in each treatment varies. The highest hatching there is treatment 1 (10 ml) with the average results achieved (93,33%), followed by treatment 2 (20 ml) of (83,33%), treatment 3 (30 ml) of (66,6%) and the lowest percentage of hatching there is at treatment 0 (0 ml) or control (50%). And on testing statistics retrieved that F count (65,33) > F table of 0.01 (7.59), meaning a very real effect. Test BNT (Least Significant Difference) showed that the use of betel leaf solution with a dose of 10 ml (treatment 1) gave the best results and treatment 0 (control) the lowest hatching percentage

Abstract

Fishery potential utilization in the waters of Aceh Jaya was dependent on fishing technology and still limited. The type of fishing gears which used in Aceh Jaya were beach seine, line fishing, gillnet, and liftnet. Liftnet used by Patek fishermen was floating liftnet. Bagan was classified in light fishing. The type of lamps which used by fishermen was fluorescent and set on the surface, whereas the surface lamp was less effective for use. This research used underwater lamp. The aims of this research were to get underwater lamp construction and determine the LED effectiveness. Construction of underwater lamp designed an innovation, that was the dimmed, so that fish which have aggregated by the light would more focus to the liftnet. The research methods were descriptive, fishing gear construction design, experiment or experimental fishing. Underwater lamp lights could help Patek fishermen for fishing and  got maximum catches. Total catches by using fluorescent light were 2343 kg. Meanwhile, total catches with underwater lamp were 3779 kg. Fish species that were caught by lift net were anchovy, peperek, tembang, mackerel, selar, japuh, and layur for 10 trip, 5 trip in the dark and the bright moon. Seen that there were differences of catches amount and composition by using fluorescent lamps and underwater lamp. The results of research it was concluded effective underwater lamp as a tool in fisheries liftnet.

Abstract

Fishing of mud crab (Scylla sp.) is using many fishing gear type, one of that i.e traps. Immersion periods is one of aspect to consideration to catching mud crab. Therefore, purpose of this study is to know immersion periods to catching mud crab efectively. This study was conducted on September 2016 in estuaries waters, Kuala Bubon Village, Samatiga  Sub District, Aceh Barat District. Methods of this  study is experimental fishing method and fully randomized design have used for this study. Immersion periods is treatments, i.e 4 hours, 8 hours and 12 hours with  3 replicates. An analysis of variance (ANOVA) at significant level 95% (p < 0.05) was selected to assess the statistical significance of the treatment differences. All data was performed with SPSS 18.0.0 software. Results of this study show that fish catching of mud crabs not siggnificant difference for every treatments (p>0.05). However, descriptive analysis show that immersing with 12 hours more efective than of 4 hours and 8 hours. This study is important for traps’s fishermen to catching mud crabs, where hauling of traps can be applied in the morning (immersing with 12 hours).

Abstract

Man-made debris exist in every ocean and contaminate marine habitats. Solid materials, typically waste, that has found its way to the marine environment is called marine debris. Composed largely of plastics, marine debris can include cigarette filters, baby diapers, automobiles, six-pack rings, beverage bottles and cans, disposable syringes, plastic bags, bottle caps, fishing line and gear, and thousands of other objects. Plastic items are the most abundant type of marine debris on a global scale and plastic is also the most frequently reported material in encounters between debris and marine organisms. There are various sources of marine debris from activities both on land and at sea. Land-based sources include littering, losses from plastic manufacturing plants, landfills and storm drains. While sea-based sources include fishing gear, garbage from shipping and recreational boats, offshore drilling platforms and rigs. Marine debris is more than an unsightly inconvenience for beach-bound vacationers or pleasure boaters. It also affects the inhabitants and economies of coastal and waterside communities worldwide. In addition to the increasingly well-recognised problems that marine debris causes to the environment, coastal communities and marine industries, there is now compelling evidence of the large-scale and serious threat that it poses to the welfare of wild marine animals. The resulting poor welfare, outlined and summarised in this report, creates a compelling argument that marine debris must be viewed not only as a serious environmental, conservation, human health and economic issue, but also as a significant global animal welfare issue that requires urgent action.
