Abstract

Marine Debris or Marine Liiter is a solid material that inadvertently or unintentionally left in the sea that has the impact of threatening the continuity and sustainability of marine life. Research on marine debris was conducted in West Aceh regency covering four coastal districts namely: Meurebo, Johan Pahlawan, Samatiga, and Arongan Lambalek. The purpose of this research is to identify the composition of marine debris in West Aceh district. So it can be as basic information to know the number and types of marine debris scattered in the coastal area of West Aceh regency, as well as for the related services in the management of marine debris. Data collection of marine debris is obtained by using line transects stretched along the coastline at the lowest tide. The results of research showed that Samatiga District is the most abundant area of marine debris with a total of 2300, then District Johan Pahlawan 1848, District Meureubo 281, and 145 District Arongan Lambalek. The most dominant composition of marine debris is found from all research locations divided (26.10%) Plastic Glass, (17.36%) Straw, and (14.95%) Food wrappers

Abstract

Research on current dynamics modelling in Indonesian waters with wind employed as independent variable has been observed. The purpose of this study was to model the hydrodynamic equations due to the influence of the wind in Indonesia waters in the form of visualization described consisting of wind circulation pattern and pattern of current movement in the west and east monsoon season. To analyze the data obtained during the study, researchers used a descriptive approach. The results showed that the west wind season (December, January, and February) blow from the northeast to the southwest then turning southeast. Whereas the east wind season (June, July, and August) blows from the southeast to the northwest and then turn to the northeast. On the surface layer shows the current movement in general follows the movement of the wind direction in which the current speed is very dominant occurred in some waters, such as the Karimata Strait, the Java Sea, the South China Sea, and the Arafuru Sea. The dominant current velocity in the layer of 100-200 m in the water of eastern equator and the South China Sea in the west season has recorded a current speed reaches 20 cm / s. while in the east monsoon which occurs in the equatorial waters of the eastern part, in the Maluku Sea, the Seram Sea and nearby the Arafuru Sea current velocity reaches 40cm / s.

Abstract

Man-made debris exist in every ocean and contaminate marine habitats. Solid materials, typically waste, that has found its way to the marine environment is called marine debris. Composed largely of plastics, marine debris can include cigarette filters, baby diapers, automobiles, six-pack rings, beverage bottles and cans, disposable syringes, plastic bags, bottle caps, fishing line and gear, and thousands of other objects. Plastic items are the most abundant type of marine debris on a global scale and plastic is also the most frequently reported material in encounters between debris and marine organisms. There are various sources of marine debris from activities both on land and at sea. Land-based sources include littering, losses from plastic manufacturing plants, landfills and storm drains. While sea-based sources include fishing gear, garbage from shipping and recreational boats, offshore drilling platforms and rigs. Marine debris is more than an unsightly inconvenience for beach-bound vacationers or pleasure boaters. It also affects the inhabitants and economies of coastal and waterside communities worldwide. In addition to the increasingly well-recognised problems that marine debris causes to the environment, coastal communities and marine industries, there is now compelling evidence of the large-scale and serious threat that it poses to the welfare of wild marine animals. The resulting poor welfare, outlined and summarised in this report, creates a compelling argument that marine debris must be viewed not only as a serious environmental, conservation, human health and economic issue, but also as a significant global animal welfare issue that requires urgent action.

Abstract

Indonesia has tropical marine waters rich in biodiversity. One of the organisms living in Indonesian coastal waters is macroalgae. Algae is one of the marine natural resources of economic value and has an ecological role as a high producer in the food chain and spawning place of marine biota. types of macroalgae have many benefits, ecologically and economically for the community. The ecological benefits of macroalgae are to provide habitat for several types of marine life such as species of crustaceans, mollusca, echinoderms, fish or other small algae. The economic value of macroalgae can be used as food, industrial raw materials, and materials for laboratories such as wet preserved materials, media materials for bacterial and fungal breeding to produce antibiotics, and there are also macroalgal types used as medicines. This study aims to identify and inventory the types of macroalgae in Lhok Bubon waters. The research method used is survey method, by identifying macroalga and inventory of macroalga contained in research location. The results of identification of macroalgae in Lhok Bubon waters are Caulerpa racemosa, Chaetomorpha anteninna, Halimeda micronesica, Boegesenia forbesi, Cladhopora hespetica,  Halimeda discoidea, Chaetomorpha sp, Sargasum sp., Sargasum natans, Padina australis, Turbinaria ornata,  Canistrocaptus crispatus, Asparagopsis taxiformis, Galaxaura filamentosa,  dan Halymenia durvillei.

Abstract

The use of mangrove forests in Kuala Bubon, in general, gives priority to economic functions rather than ecological functions. If this is not managed as soon as possible, damage to mangrove forests will become more extensive. In general, there are two factors causing damage to the mangrove forests that occurred in the Kuala Bubon, namely human factors and natural factors. The objective of this study is to determine the use of mangrove forests for the life of coastal communities and the participation of communities in the preservation of mangroves. The method of data collection using survey methods is carried out from descriptive and quantitative way. Perception and community participation were analyzed using quantitative descriptive methods. The method used to measure people's perception is the Likert scale method. The results of the study showed that the use of mangroves for the life of coastal communities was still in the middle category, based on the categorization of the data, revealed that the value of using the mangrove (1,113) is one of the criteria that approaches high levels. This shows that the use of mangroves in the village of Kuala Bubon, Samatiga district, West Aceh Regency is already good, although there is still no specific sanction for people who cut illegally. Community participation in the conservation of mangroves can improve the lives of coastal communities is still insufficient when, based on the calculation of the categorization of data obtained, the value of the community participation of 1,498 is among the average criteria.

Abstract

Abstract

Tourism coastal area is one form of application of community-based and sustainable tourism development. Through the development of tourist villages are expected to occur equitable in accordance with the concept of sustainable tourism development. Community participation is important in the implementation of development. In reality there is often a neglect of community participation, so that the community is still the object of the implementation of management. The development of the tourism village is a planned change in which local participation is required holistically. This activity aims: Provides an overview of how the development and management of attractions based on local communities. The development of Suak Indrapuri Village, Aceh Barat Regency, Aceh Province into a tourist village has not fully involved community participation. The challenge in the process of developing the tourist gampong in Suak Indrapuri is the lack of cooperation between local government / related agencies and gampong devices in the whole process of tourism development. Whereas when referring to a clean and sustainable government governance approach the role of the government is expected to be a facilitator by providing greater role and benefits to the local community. Good coordination is able to develop the area. It is desirable that existing natural resources are sustainable without reducing and damaging their quality.
