Abstract

Wisdom is defined in a variety of meanings in accordance with the times. Understanding wisdom originated from philosophical approaches. After these philosophical views, wisdom is understood in the psychology context. Wisdom has received increasing attention in empirical research in recent years, especially in gerontology and psychology. Wisdom generally is associated with older people. Modern empirical research has no significant reason to believe that wisdom is solely owned by older people. Wisdom is not a result of aging per se, but rather, only those older people who use their lifetime experiences optimally tend to acquire wisdom with aging. In this paper, wisdom is defined as human’s multidimensional abilities which can be learned and measured, and increases with age through advanced cognitive and emotional development which is driven by experience. Multidimensionality of wisdom (e.g. practical, reflective, openness interactional, paradoxical, ethical sensibility and experience) shows that wisdom is not always related with older age, but refers to the individual’s abilities to reason carefully; to reminisce and reflect; to tolerate with alternative views; and to regulate own emotional and expressions). The definitions lead to the implication that family and seminary formation have chance to develop the wisdom as human’s multidimensional abilities.

Abstract

The church is a legacy of the Kingdom of God which is owned by Jesus Christ, which also involves the participation of the Holy Spirit through believers of Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior, where they serve one another in the unity of the Body of Christ, worship God through the worship of the people. believe, and proclaim the complete testimony of life and the gospel of Christ, the Kingdom of God (Evangelism) for the ecclesiastical community and the world. The church is a supernatural life, namely the existence of power, divine events as recorded in the Bible, so that church service is a powerful ministry, although often church services are natural and routine services. Thus the study of the theology of power ministry concerns the exegesis of the use of the words "power" and "energy", and the movement of the ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ, including the disciples who are always accompanied by demonstrations of Divine Power, including the essence of the Kingdom of God, which is related to the meaning of the salvation of His renewal, and the role The Holy Spirit who gives gifts of the Spirit based on the grace of the power of the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ. The study of this theological foundation is necessary so that the meaning of powerful ministry can be understood clearly, including its application in the life of the ecclesiastical community.

Abstract

Discussions about parish institution today often end in its crisis. It seems that this institution is unable to carry out its functions in the modern world. On the other hand, so far, despite the emergence of new movements in the Church that are becoming the reference point in the life of some Christians, there is no institution that has replaced the parish yet. The parish remains a reference institution that shows the real face of the Church in society. On 20 July 2020, the Congregation for the Clergy published an instruction entitled “The pastoral conversion of the Parish community in the service of the evangelising mission of the Church”. This paper is an invitation to read and reflect on the pastoral conversion in parish life that focuses on the context of Asian Church priority to be a participatory Church and communion of communities. By applying the analytical method, we will examine the content of the instruction in confront with the context. In this way, finally we can find out the main points of how this instruction encourages pastoral conversion which should become the concern for the Asian Church. Therefore, this work helps us to understand better the importance of community conversion which means becoming a missionary community with the following two levels: all different parish communities that build up the entire parish and the parish community itself.

Abstract

Internet-mediated interreligious relations could go in two directions: increasing the number of interreligious encountering with weakening process of religious exclusivism and lead people to religious fundamentalism and interreligious polarization. In the Indonesian context, the emergence of the Garis Lucu (Funny line) social media platforms allow a dialogical internet-mediated interreligious relation rather than the monologue one. This opportunity especially works in the relation between @KatolikG and @NUGarisllucu, two (unofficial) religious-based social media account that cover Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook Page. This study uses @KatolikG perspective on looking for several patterns of internet-mediated interreligious dialogue. The study finds three patterns of internet-mediated interreligious dialogue: doing daily dialogue, discussing sensitive issues, and doing social actions. Within these three works, @KatolikG contributes in sharing communal agenda and concerns that enable people to work hand in hand in supporting interreligious dialogue. Following the idea of Pope Francis to have ‘a greater discernment and responsibility for contents both sent and received,’ @KatolikG supports social cohesion among Indonesians in the context of Internet-Mediated Interreligious Dialogue.

Abstract

This article explores the dogma of Mary as Mother of God and its implications in the tradition of the Sisters of Our Lady of Amersfoort (SOLA) in Indonesia. In their traditional prayers to the Blessed Virgin Mary, the SOLA in Indonesia invoke Mary with the title, “Mother of God”. This exploration includes the significance of dogmatic perspective on Mary. What are the implications of the dogma of Mary as Mother of God for the tradition of the Sisters of Our Lady of Amersfoort in Indonesia? Literature study is used as a method in this research.  The dogma as Mother of God is reflected in their traditions such as: liturgy, devotion, the motto Tota Christi per Mariam and the formula of their religious vows. Three recommendations are offered: (1) having a uniform structural image of Mary as Mother of God in the Congregations of SOLA; (2) creation of a Marian formation program for all formators of the SOLA and the SOLA in Indonesia, and (3) designing a Marian Formation Program for Junior Sisters, Novices and Postulants, especially the dogma Mary as Mother of God and its implications in the tradition of the Sisters suited to the particular stage of formation.

Abstract

The important question in this article is “How important is the construction of the tabernacle, on the sanctuary texts, especially in Exod 39:32-43 (in the larger context of Exod 25-31.35-40), for our church today, especially in Asia – in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic?”  Therefore, this article tries (1) to develop some theological thoughts of the Construction of Tabernacle in Exod 39:32-43 for Our Church Today; (2) to explore their theological implications for our situation today – in the midst of Covid-19 pandemic; and (3) to improve some theological thoughts on “Tabernacle” in the Catholic Church, especially regarding Sacramentum Caritatis 69 which describes the location of the tabernacle in the church by using the strong words, “The correct positioning of the tabernacle”. We try to go deeper on it by examining the richness of theological thoughts behind “the tabernacle” – not just focus on “the location” but try to go beyond.

Abstract

Because suicides are not a single factor, but the causes are plural and the variants or types are the same, so the approach to it is also varied. In this paper the author attempts to approach it from the sociological perspective of Émile Durkheim. Apart from that, he also approaches these cases from a pastoral point of view and traditional Batak culture. Because suicide is caused by a weak social solidarity, it is deemed necessary to take steps towards social cohesion. This study aims to describe and identify the social issue of suicide. Achieve this with qualitative research with participatory methods and phenomenology. The results of the research, namely pastoral perspectives and traditional culture can complement sociological perspectives to explain suicide (more) completely and its contribution to reforming pastoral services in the Protestant Batak of Christian Church (HKBP) and traditional Batak culture
Revelation and Religious Experience: A critical study of René Latourelle’s theology of revelation Aleksander Dancar

Abstract

This article is a critical study of René Latourelle’s concept of revelation who conceives of it as Word, testimony and encounter. The theological thesis that I would like to advance in this article is that, whatever the analogy of God’s revelation, it is always fundamentally rooted in the experience of human openness to the highest value of his/her life in this world. Revelation itself is the analogical word of the most significant human experience in the world. The historical intervention of God is always experienced symbolically and considered plausibly according to the criterion of universal reason. Every understanding of the mystery is a human experience which in its essence is conditioned by the mystery itself. In this sense, it can be said that every concept of revelation is constructed from any interpretative and significant experience of the human being. This fundamental aspect of Christian revelation does not appear in Latourell's theological reflection.
