Abstract

This article describes the research result of the effect of adding fly ash and water concentration of clay on red bricks’ compressive strength. Fisis characteristic and bricks’ compressive strength is according to SNI 15-2094-2000. Variation of fly ash that were used were 5%, 10%, 15%, 20%, 25%, and 30% from the weight of clay. Adding water concentration was based on three criterions of mortar clay condition, namely hard, normal, and soft. Hardmortar clayis a condition of the clay mixture which used less water than the normal mixture. Normal mixture is a condition ofthe clay mixture which usedwater based on usual concentration in brick factory. Soft mixture is a condition ofthe clay mixture that used much water than normal mixture. In this research, there are 8 sample for normal bricks and there are 144 sample for variation bricks. The optimum value of compressive strength for hard and normal mixture of variation bricks were obtained in 10% of fly ash variation which increased 33,59%, and 2,82% from normal bricks. Compressive strength for soft mixture of bricks was obtained in 5% of fly ash variation which increased 28,25% from normal bricks.

Abstract

One of innovation in research is utilizing an industrial waste to obtain value-added. The purpose of this study is to find the effect of and Marshall characteristic value comparison between normal asphalt hotmix and the one which fine aggregate is replaced with waste iron filings. The study was conducted in the laboratory to test Marshall method. The composition of fine aggregate replacement with waste iron powder set at 0%, 25%, 50%, 75%, and 100%. The result showed that variation which met the specifications of the optimum bitumen content and parameter were only variation of 0% and a variation of 25%. Variation at 25% is superior in terms of the fulfillment of the Marshall parameters. When the fine aggregate replaced with iron filings waste by 25%, the use of bitumen was more efficient at 17.86%. Therefore, waste iron powder can be used as a substitute for the refined agegrat A mixture of asphalt with a maximum level of 25%.

Abstract

Concrete strength is influenced by several variables, among others by its constituent material, mix design, workmanship, and curing. The objective of concrete curing is to maintain the concrete in certain conditions after the dismantling of the formwork hence the optimization of concrete strength can be achieved close to the designed strength. This study aims to determine the effect of concrete curing on its compressive strength. Designed concrete compressivestrength of 20 MPa with slump values of 60-100 mm to be used. The specimens are cube-shaped with 15 cm dimension. Concrete compressive strength tests were conducted at 28 days and 56 days of concrete age. The types of concrete curing consist of 9 variations, i.e., not treated, water immersed and water sprinkling. Optimum 28 days age of compressive strength of concrete obtained from specimens that immersed in fresh water, which was 31,3 MPa. The concretespecimens that were put outdoor without any curing and treatment generates second highest compressive strength value of 28.6 MPa. The 28 days age of concrete compressive strength values cured with water sprinkling with addition of burlap wrapping are still under the compressive strength of uncured concrete. Significant changes to the strength of cured concrete occurred at age of 56 days and uncured concrete strength decreased up to 19%. The optimum increase occurred in concrete cured with burlap sack wrapping and water sprinkling that was conducted routinely for 3 days by 27,84%. With increasing age (durability) the treated concrete has better strength.

Abstract

Air Kemumu weir in Kemumu village subdistrict of Kecamatan Arma Jaya Bengkulu Utara  Regency, is one of the weir which has irrigation canal and irrigation construction in its system. This research is aimed to plan the canal dimension, divider, and reservoir construction based on 5, 50, and 100 years periodic flow in Kemumu weir irrigation area of Bengkulu Utara. Observation and measurement were done directly in that area in order to find out the dimensionand the problem. Research method that is used in this research is done by counting down the rainfall data by using algebra average method. The primary data are taken from the speed of water flow in canal, canal dimension, and construction dimension. The expected result of rainfall measurement that can complete pre-requirement is Gumbel method type 1. The measurement of the flow is using rational method for any types of periodic flow. The result of this research is finding the final hydrolysis measurement for the secondary BW.1 and tertiary BS 2A canal are 0,52m and 0,35m for the base width BW.1 and BS 2A. The measurement for the canal design based on periodic flow for BW.1 and BS 2A in Q5, Q50, and Q100 are 2,14m, 2,92m,3,14m, 1,74m, 2,17m, and 2,34m. Thetop width (b) measurement of the divider BW.1 and reservoir BS 2A construction are 0,44m and 0,24m. The measurement of its width in Q5, Q50, and Q100 are 1,78m, 2,44m, 2,60m, 1,50m, 2,20m, and 2,34 m.

Abstract

Rice Husk Ash usually used as pozzolanic material admixtures that have been used for Geopolimer concrete. This study report on the behavior on mechanical properties (compressive and flexural) of rice husk ash geopolimer concrete using activator sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide with variation comparison of sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide was 0,25; 0,1; and 1,25. Concrete testing included the determination of compressive and flexural properties.  It was shown that the behavior of compressive properties of comparison of sodium silicate to sodium hydroxide 1,0 was the optimum result and the behavior of flexure properties gotoptimum result on the comparison of sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide was 1,25.
