The Journal of Bionursing is an open access journal which provides forum to publish scientific works on Nursing and health Sciences (pISSN: 2684-7833, eISSN: 2685-6484). This Journal was established in 2019 and developed by Department of Nursing, Faculty of health Sciences, Jenderal Soedirman University under collaboration with Indonesian Biomedical Nurses Association. This journal will be published three times in a year (January, Mei, September). The focus and scopes of the journal cover all aspects of nursing and biomedical research including basic research in nursing, medical and surgical nursing, management nursing, mental health nursing, emergency and critical nursing, gerontological nursing, mental health nursing, maternity nursing, pediatric nursing, community nursing, complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) in Nursing.

Abstract

Background. The higher number of morbidity and emergency department visits for persons aged 75 years compared with the people under 65 years were the basic reason needed for a multidimensional and rapid assessment in the emergency department. The Emergency Geriatric Assessment may effective to be used to identify geriatric problems in the emergency department. Methods. This kind of implementation was a case study. This implementation was done on July 11st - 17th, 2019. The total respondent of this implementation was 11 elderly. The criteria of the respondent were all of the elderly aged ≥60 years who were waiting for admission or being observed, and didn’t have an acute stroke, an acute myocardial infarction, or was awaiting surgical intervention and admission. The instrument used a questionnaire named Emergency Geriatric Assessment, which consisted of twenty-two possible problems in the elderly. Results. The results of the Emergency Geriatric Assessment showed that the majority of the elderlies were 60-74 years, were male, had a medical decisions and had an ability to care for self by themselves. The majority of the identified problems were dementia, sleep, polypharmacy, pain, nutrition, use of medical resources, caregiver, family meeting, need for comfortable care, and long term bedridden. Conclusion. The Emergency Geriatric Assessment was effective to be used for identifying at least two geriatric problems in elderly, in order to help emergency department physicians to manage such patients.

Abstract

Introduction: Cancer is an abnormal cell growth that attacks the surrounding tissue which can cause death for the sufferer. Cancer is the second leading cause of death in the world by 13% after cardiovascular disease. Cancer can cause sufferers to experience a decrease in physical conditions such as pain and psychologically such as depression. One of the pharmacological therapies that can cure cancer is chemotherapy. Chemotherapy has side effects of myelosuppression, nausea and vomiting, causing discomfort for the sufferer. One of the complementary therapies that can reduce pain, depression and the effects of chemotherapy is aromatherapy. Methods: This study used 6 steps including, formulating research questions and objectives, searching for existing literature, screening according to inclusion, assessing article quality, extracting data, and analyzing data. Articles obtained from data based on Google Scholar. Using Indonesian keywords, namely: “Aromatherapy”, “Nausea”, “Vomiting”, “Cancer”, “Pain”, there were 5 articles that met the inclusion criteria and were included in the analysis. Results: Aromatherapy has been shown to be effective in reducing pain and depression in cancer patients as well as providing comfort to reduce nausea and vomiting due to the effects of chemotherapy administered by patients. Discussion: Complementary aromatherapy interventions have good benefits for cancer patients in reducing pain and depression and reducing nausea and vomiting. The provision of this therapy should be promoted more widely to patients and health professionals to support patient comfort. Conclusion: Aromatherapy can reduce pain and depression and reduce nausea and vomiting in cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.

Abstract

Most patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 show respiratory symptoms such as fever, coughing, sneezing, and shortness of breath. COVID-19 patients with severe pneumonia are characterized by fever, plus one of the symptoms in geriatric patients can appear atypical symptoms. The Central Statistics Agency projects that by 2045 Indonesia will have around 63.31 million elderly or nearly 20 percent of the population. In fact, the UN projection also states that the percentage of Indonesian elderly will reach 25 percent in 2050 or around 74 million elderly. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between knowledge about Covid-19 and the psychological problems of the elderly during the pandemic in Paguyangan Village, Paguyangan District, Brebes Regency 2020. This research is a descriptive study with a cross sectional approach. The research design used was descriptive analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this study were 711 elderly people aged 60 years or more in Paguyangan Village, Paguyangan District, Brebes Regency. The majority of respondents had a moderate level of knowledge, namely 56 respondents or 62.2%. The results of this study indicate a significant relationship between knowledge and anxiety levels with a p value of 0.000 with a positive correlation, which means that the higher the knowledge is followed by the higher the level of anxiety with a correlation strength of 0.643 (strong).

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic (Coronavirus Disease2019) caused by the SARSCoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus-2) virus is an event that threatens public health in general and has attracted worldwide attention. In the midst of the Covid-19 outbreak, there is a social phenomenon that has the potential to exacerbate the condition of Covid-19, namely social stigma or negative associations for a person or group of people who experience symptoms or have certain diseases, are labeled, stereotyped, discriminated against, treated differently or experienced harassment status due to association with a disease. This study aims to determine the relationship between public knowledge about Covid-19 and the community's stigma against Covid-19 positive self-isolation patients in the village of Cilibur 2020. This research is a quantitative study with a cross-sectional design. Data collection began in October-December 2020 for 109 respondents who were taken by total sampling technique. Primary data collection is obtained from interviews using questionnaires and checklists. Analysis of the data obtained using univariate to describe the characteristics of respondents, univariate analysis and bivariate analysis using the Spearman rank test. There is a significant relationship between knowledge and community stigma in Cilibur Village, Paguyangan District. This is indicated by the results of the study that the statistical test results obtained a sig (2-tailed) value of 0.002

Abstract

Introduction: Diabetes mellitus is the level of glucose in the blood excess, which is caused by disruption of secretion or work of insulin hormone. Diabetics in Indonesia ranks fourth after India, China, United States. Diabetes mellitus lesions can be treated using honey, this supports the belief of the people of Indonesia about honey can cure all diseases. Method: Journal search is done electronically using database, they are: Google Scholar, Pubmed. Keywords used are honey / honey, wound / injury, and diabetes mellitus; there are 3 journals taken to create a review literature from 2010-2017. Objective: To prove the effectiveness of honey to treat patients with diabetes mellitus wound by analyzing 3 journals. Results: Honey therapy has a good effectiveness against wound healing diabetes mellitus. Discussion: The use of honey to treat wounds, effectively accelerate wound healing diabetes mellitus. Conclusion: Honey therapy effectively accelerates the healing of diabetes mellitus wounds.

Abstract

Introduction: One of the most common noncommunicable disease is hypertension. Based of RISKESDAS RI 2013, the prevalence of hypertension in Indonesia is 26,5%. Chronic hypertension cause blodd vessels stiffness such as aortic. The endothelium of aortic that become thickness could lead to dangerous health problems. Hypertensive people need life-time period to treatment the disease. Farmacology therapy for long time had side effect for human body so it needs to be complied with another treatment. There is substance in black pepper called Piperine that could decrease blodd pressure. Piperine could be another therapy for hypertension treatment. Purpose: The purpose from this article was to review effect of black pepper on decreasing blood pressure in hypertension rats. Method: These articles was searched by using electronic database such as PubMed, Springer, Google scholar and ERIC with publication year around 2007-2017. The keywords that used is “Piperine/lada hitam/black pepper”, “blood pressure”, “hypertension/hipertensi”; and finally got three article to be reviewed. Result: Piperine had vasodilator effect that could help to decrease blood pressure in hypertension rats. Discussion: The benefit of piperine in black pepper was need further research to combine it in suplement. Additionally, we can add black pepper to dietary food especially for hypertension people. Conclusion: Piperine could decrease blood pressure in hypertension rats.

Abstract

Introduction: Various complaints may occur during pregnancy, one of which is low back pain (low back pain). Low back pain usually occurs from the 2nd trimester and third trimester. About 45-75% of women report back pain during pregnancy. Back pain is caused by increased load at the back as a result of the total weight gained during pregnancy and fetal weight as well as hormonal changes that destabilize the spinal joints, sacroiliac joints and connective tissue. One of the interventions that can be done to reduce back pain is by using kinesiotaping. Kinesiotaping can reduce nociceptors stimution so it can suppress the pain. Method: Journal article search is done electronically using multiple databases: Sience Direct, PubMed, ProQuest and Google Scholar databases from 2010 to 2017. Results: Kinesiotaping can be used as an effective therapy to reduce lower back pain. Discussion: The use of kinesiotaping in the back area is accompanied by other complementary therapies such as pelvic tilt exercises, back exercise and breathing exercise will be more effective for lowering lower back pain. Conclusion: Kinesiotaping can be used as a complementary treatment method to reduce lower back pain in pregnancy.

Abstract

Introduction: Nutrition status is an indicator level of child welfare in Indonesia. One of the factors that affect nutritional status is food intake. Fulfilling the need for a balanced intake of food starts from the implantation until the child is 24 months old. In this age period is a period of growth that will determine the physical form of the child. Stunting is a chronic malnutrition disease that the body becomes short. The impact of stunted child birth is growth becomes inhibited, decreased cognitive function, and decreased immune function. Therefore, it is necessary to handle stunting to reduce the incidence of malnutrition, one of them with the provision of food combinations. Method: Journal search by collecting from multiple databases: Sage database, PubMed, IJHN, ProQuest, Ingenta Connect, and Google Scholar. Journal criteria used are journals from 2007 to 2017. Keywords used are diet diversification and stunting. Result: Nursing intervention in the form of food combinations, effective, efficient and safe are given to children born stunting to reduce the incidence of malnutrition in Indonesia. Discussion: The combination of food in an effort to fulfill the nutritional adequacy of children, influenced by economic status. So, it is necessary to choose a variety of foods that are cheap but nutritional quality remains met. Conclusion: Giving a combination of food to children born stunting can reduce the incidence of malnutrition in Indonesia.

Abstract

Introduction: Burns are a serious health problem and are often faced by doctors. Various studies show that honey is effective in healing burns. Honey is thought to act as an antibacterial and is now being used as a treatment burn victims. Aim: this study aims to review some literature on management by using honey to heal burns tested in rat. Method: Article searches conducted electronically in some databases: Sage database, PubMed, Science Direct, Mendeley, and Google Scholar, by 2007 until 2017. Keywords used were “Burn”, “Honey”, “Rat”; and finally got six articles matched. Result: Interventions using honey can be used and effective in curing burns. Discussion: The use of honey for combined effective burns in accelerating the healing process of tissue in the wounded area. The honey intervention method for burns should be further improved and implemented as a treatment for burns. Conclusion: Honey is very effective to accelerate and heal burns.

Abstract

Various complaints can occur during menstruation, one of which is dysmenorrhoea. Primary dysmenorrhoea is painless during menstruation without pathology, resulting from endometrium containing high amounts of prostaglandins. The estimated rate of dysmenorrhoea occurrence in adolescents 20% - 90%. About 15% of adolescents report severe menstrual pain. This can disrupt daily activities. High incidence of dysmenorrhoea is the reason not to go to school or college, few who seek treatment and only seek treatment independently. Medical intervention in primary dysmenorrhoea such as massage technique using lavender essential oil. Lavender as an essential oil has several benefits: reducing pain, antidepressants, and antimicrobials. Objective: The purpose of this study was to review some literature on massage using lavender essential oil to reduce the intensity of dysmenorrhoea pain in adolescents. Methods: Journal article searches are conducted electronically over the period 2008 - 2017, using multiple databases: Google Scholar, Sage, and ScienceDirect databases. Keywords used are "Primary dysmenorrhea / Dysmenorrhoea", "Lavender", and "Massage / Massage"; so get 3 articles to be reviewed. Results: Complementary nursing massage interventions using lavender essential oils can be categorized as safe and effective interventions in dealing with primary dysmenorrhoea. Discussion: The use of complementary nursing methods with a massage using lavender essential oil is effective in reducing primary dysmenorrhoea in adolescents. Complementary nursing methods with massage use should be further promoted and implemented as a treatment in primary dysmenorrhoea. Conclusion: The massage using lavender essential oil can reduce the intensity of pain in primary dysmenorrhoea.
