Abstract

This paper looks into the barriers faced by Bangladeshi adolescents in learning about sexual and reproductive health. A mixed method approach was used to generate data gathered from the two study sites named Dhormasor Mohisa Trimukhi Uchho Bidalay and the Jaforgonj High School located in the Rangpur district, the northern part of Bangladesh. Thematic analysis was employed to develop themes, priori and other memos. Our findings demonstrate several key issues, all of which negatively impact adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health (SRHR) education. First, there is the lack of teacher training and experience in SRHR class lectures, as well as parental ignorance. Second, there are social stigmas, social taboos and cultural rigidity. Third, there are significant institutional barriers like the lack of textbook information, combined classes and age discrepancies between teachers and students. Fourth, male teachers often give   SRHR lectures to female students, and female teachers give SRHR lectures to males. Fifth, misuse of appropriate technology and sometimes its lack of access can also prevent adolescents obtaining correct information about SRHR. This study contributes to the field of gender and public health.

Abstract

The environment of financial uncertainty among the Global Supply Chain networks has been fueled by the impact of Covid-19 which saw major economies around the world imposing months of lockdown, slowing the pace and flow of raw materials and manufactured products resulting in an economic slowdown. It has also brought to light the vulnerabilities and susceptibilities of emerging economies, like the ASEAN nations. This has resulted in collapsing of both domestic and foreign sectors like retail, accommodation, and food services. This has prompted the regional governments to boost up regional cooperation through structural reforms for sustainable economic recovery. In this respect, three sectors of tourism, agro-processing, and garments can be improvised, while two other sectors like electronics and E-trade have greater potential for future growth. In this context, the paper using content analysis and exploratory methods focuses on the impacts of Covid-19 on the sectors of tourism, agro-processing, and garments in the ASEAN region and the possible options for improvising the sectors of Electronics and E-trade to further economic recovery in the ASEAN region.

Abstract

The strategic problem faced by West Kalimantan Province is the problem of the high poverty rate. Compared to other provinces in Indonesia, the poverty rate in West Kalimantan is still relatively high. The human development index (HDI) in West Kalimantan has indeed increased yearly, but this increase is followed by relatively high poverty and crime. Based on the background described, the main problem in this study is the influence of HDI on poverty and crime in West Kalimantan. This study uses quantitative and descriptive approach as the method with multiple linear and panel data regression analyses. The results of this study are poverty with HDI has a negative relationship. Weather crime shows a positive relationship with HDI. In other word, HDI has an acceptable influence on crime. Moreover, poverty has a negative relationship to crime, meaning that if poverty increases by 1 percent, crime will decrease. The result of this research can be a basis for general considerations in dealing with poverty and reducing the number of crimes by improving the population’s quality as indicated by the HDI. All stakeholders’ effort needed to strengthen human quality by implementing programs in tackling poverty. For further research, this study suggests using an approach to the real conditions of poverty.

Abstract

Everybody deserves the right to marry, the right to property, and the right to be free from torture as fundamental rights. These rights are preserved by the state and have been incorporated in the constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. These are also recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) as fundamental rights. This study is an endeavor to depict a clear picture of human rights violation of the elderly people of a northern district of Bangladesh in the aspect of the right to marry, the right to property, and the right to be free from torture. These rights are very important for a human being and it is the responsibility of the state to protect these rights according to the highest law of Bangladesh. But the study found that these rights are often violated in several ways in the study area. Lack of ethical views, corruption, and weakness of law enforcement are the main hindrances responsible for this case. This research is based on both primary and secondary data. It recommends some suggestions to out away these impediments. Raising proper familial education with morals and values is very important in this sphere. The government has to be more active in the ground of law enforcement and social movement should be built massively against corruption.

Abstract

This article examines radicalism as a socio-religious phenomenon in constructing ideological and political struggles. This study aims to determine the perceptions of Indonesian-Malaysian students regarding radicalism based on religious understanding obtained at the university. This research uses qualitative methods through online interview data collection, focus group discussions (FGD), and a descriptive-interpretative analysis literature study. This study found several findings, namely: students' perceptions of the level of radicalism were divided into three levels: 1) high (extremism, socio-political movement for political purposes); 2) medium (intolerance); 3) low (exclusive, does not accept differences of opinion). However, it should be noted that the perception of Indonesian students is more diverse regarding the level of radicalism, in contrast to the perception of Malaysian students who view the level of radicalism as narrower. This is due to the political influence of each country. Furthermore, the power of religious understanding at universities regarding the level of radicalism on Indonesian and Malaysian students is different due to the reception of information in class, discussions in communities/organizations, and information from social media. This article contributes to increasing the discussion on youth's response to religious-based radicalism so that various parties, including the government and academics, can carry out a more comprehensive anti-radicalism campaign.
