Abstract

This study examines group counselling practices at MTs Nurul Iman in Bandung City to understand how guidance and counselling teachers apply the principles of empathy, active listening, and spiritual approaches in building therapeutic relationships with students. Theoretically, this research enriches the scientific treasury of Islamic guidance and counselling by developing a conceptual model of therapeutic communication based on spiritual values. Practically, the research results indicate that therapeutic communication in madrasah group counselling still needs strengthening to be applied more consistently and integrated into the practice of guidance and counselling services. Therefore, this research is expected to enhance the professional awareness of madrasa guidance and counselling teachers regarding the importance of therapeutic communication as the foundation of the counselling relationship, and to encourage the application of more humane, religious, and contextual communication strategies in supporting the psychological and Islamic moral development of students. Data collection was done through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation. The research findings indicate that the group counselling process unfolds through three main stages: problem identification, implementation of counselling, and evaluation of service. At each stage, the counselor optimizes therapeutic communication skills as the primary instrument of service, which includes creating a conducive atmosphere to build the client's sense of safety and openness, applying active listening to deepen understanding of the client's experiences, using Islamic communication techniques to strengthen meaning and spiritual motivation, and building a relationship of mutual trust as the foundation for the effectiveness of the group counseling process in Islamic guidance and counselling.

Abstract

Children with cancer face not only physical pain but also psychological distress such as isolation, limited activities, sadness, fear, and hopelessness. Islam-based psychosocial intervention is considered an appropriate approach to reduce negative emotions and foster positive ones. This study aims to describe the impact of Islamic psychosocial intervention on children with cancer at the C-Four Aceh shelter. A qualitative descriptive method was employed, using observation and interviews with 20 participants (children, parents, the foundation's chairperson, and staff). The findings indicate an increase in positive emotions, including cheerfulness, enthusiasm, calmness, and improved social interaction. Parents and staff also reported that the activities were beneficial in reducing boredom during medical waiting times and in nurturing new hope. The integration of Islamic values ??through singing religious songs, drawing Islamic themes, and practising mindfulness with dhikr made the intervention not only psychologically effective but also spiritually meaningful. This study highlights the importance of community-based psychosocial support rooted in Islamic spirituality as a holistic effort to strengthen emotional recovery in children with cancer.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency (juvenile delinquency) is a social problem that concerns the community, encompassing various actions, such as driving without a license, fighting habits, teasing each other (bullying), graffiti at school, blackmail, stealing, arguing with teachers, never doing schoolwork, skipping school, even the worrying ones are drinking alcohol, drug abuse, motorcycle gangs and free sex. Adolescence generally begins around the age of 13 and ends around the age of 21. The method employed is quantitative research with a one-group pretest-posttest design, a form of quasi-experimental design that aims to measure the effectiveness of the intervention by comparing data before and after treatment within the same group. The study's results showed that the majority of data (71.71%) indicated that students had not previously participated in guidance and counselling services. All (87.94%) of the students understood the dangers of juvenile delinquency and how to prevent it after participating in guidance and counselling services with Pancasila values intervention. All (83%) of the students stated that they were satisfied, and a small portion (17%) stated that they were not satisfied with the guidance and counselling services, including the Pancasila values intervention, in preventing juvenile delinquency. Counsellors, in addition to providing Islamic religious treatment on the first principle of Pancasila, also provided narratives regarding criminal law regarding juvenile delinquency in order to increase legal awareness of students by knowing the threat of imprisonment and as a shock therapy to students, so that they can understand the dangers of juvenile delinquency, that they are closer to Allah SWT.

Abstract

Contemporary psychosocial problems have become increasingly complex due to social change, economic pressure, disruptions in social relationships, and the weakening of spiritual sources of meaning in collective life. Global data indicate that nearly one in seven people lived with a mental disorder in 2021, while national data show that the prevalence of depression among people aged 15 years and older reached 1.4%, with the 15-24 age group having the highest prevalence. This article aims to formulate a paradigm for Islamic value-based social community counseling to address psychosocial problems. This study employs qualitative library research, using thematic analysis and a conceptual synthesis of the literature on community counseling, Islamic guidance and counseling, community psychology, mental health, and recent empirical data. The findings indicate that the Islamic community counseling paradigm is constructed through the integration of tawhid, ukhuwah, social justice, maslahah, amanah, shura, and ta'awun with the principles of participation, empowerment, advocacy, prevention, and community evaluation. The contribution of this study lies in the formulation of a conceptual-operational model that positions counselors as facilitators, educators, mediators, advocates, social network mobilizers, and value guardians. The article recommends developing community counseling programs within mosques, religious social institutions, families, schools, and through cross-sector collaboration, and testing them using psychological, social, spiritual, and structural indicators.

Abstract

This study specifically analyzes the role of tawakal as a spiritual regulatory mechanism in helping Islamic Religious Education students at UIN Sunan Gunung Djati cope with future anxiety, which is defined as an individual's inability to face future uncertainty. The purpose of this research is to understand the dynamics of future anxiety in Islamic Religious Education students and analyzing the role of tawakal as a spiritual regulatory mechanism in managing future anxiety based on students' subjective experiences. Using a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through in-depth interviews and observations with three Islamic Religious Education students and two campus religious administrators. Data were later analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model, which includes data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. Research results show that anxiety arises in academic, career, financial, and personal maturity aspects. Triggered by internal factors such as low self-confidence and external factors such as family pressure and academic demands. Tawakal helps calm emotions, increase self-acceptance, and strengthen readiness to face uncertainty, especially regarding the future. The effectiveness of tawakal is supported by spiritual closeness, namely a condition in which an individual has a strong relationship with God and social and religious support. At the same time, obstacles stem from a mistaken understanding of tawakal and the determination of negative thoughts. This study confirms that tawakal is a spiritual strategy that can reduce anxiety about the future.

Abstract

Narcotics (NAPZA) remains a major problem in Indonesia, causing physical, psychological, and spiritual damage to individuals. Therefore, treatment efforts are needed that are not only medical and legal but also address religious aspects through an integrated approach. This study aims to examine efforts to treat drug users through the tazkiyatun an-nafs counseling approach. This study uses a descriptive method and content analysis of the literature to provide an overview of the concept and application of tazkiyatun an-nafs in Islamic guidance. Data sources were obtained from various published media relevant to this study. This study is directed at developing a pious personality, namely a person with strong faith, free from heart disease, and noble morals, able to live life with a good attitude to achieve happiness in this world and the hereafter. The results of the study indicate that guidance through the stages of takhalli, tahalli, and tajalli is an important means of purifying the soul, in line with the concept of tazkiyatun an-nafs. This study recommends the application of the tazkiyatun an-nafs approach in dealing with drug users as an effort to foster spiritual development and character building to become better, more pious individuals.

Abstract

Juvenile delinquency is a complex and growing problem in the school environment. Behaviors such as aggressiveness, rule-breaking, low empathy, and difficulty managing emotions are often rooted in students' weak self-control and emotional immaturity. This article examines the interpretations of Surah Luqman, verse 18, and Surah Ali Imran, verse 134, as a basis for values in the emotional guidance approach in schools. Using a qualitative approach grounded in the literature, this article analyzes Quranic verses relevant to the development of humility, anger management, social empathy, and prosocial behavior. The results of the analysis indicate that messages about the prohibition of arrogance, encouragement to restrain anger, and encouragement to be patient and humble can be counseling strategies that support the development of adolescents' emotional intelligence and prevent delinquent behavior in schools. This study offers a conceptual framework for emotional guidance services based on verse interpretation. It examines the relationship between religious values and psychological constructs, integrating Quranic verse interpretation with the theory of emotional regulation and character education.

Abstract

The development of digital technology has encouraged guidance and counseling services to shift to cybercounseling, which is more accessible, flexible, and aligned with Generation Z's communication patterns. As digital natives, Generation Z faces various challenges, such as anxiety, social pressure, identity crises, cyberbullying, digital media dependency, and privacy vulnerabilities. However, studies on cyber counseling generally emphasize technical effectiveness and online communication, while the integration of spiritual values, ethics, dignity protection, and character building has not been systematically discussed. This study aims to develop a conceptual model for integrating cyber counseling and maqasid sharia in guidance and counseling services for Generation Z. The study used a qualitative approach with a systematic literature review design. Literature was collected from Google Scholar, Scopus, and accredited national journals between 2015 and 2024, selected according to the PRISMA principles, and analyzed using thematic analysis. The results show that maqasid sharia can serve as a normative framework to guide cyber counseling toward protecting life, mind, religion, lineage, and dignity. This integration results in a service model oriented towards mental health, digital literacy, strengthening spirituality, character building, online communication ethics, and protecting data confidentiality. The implication is that this model can help Islamic educational institutions provide safe, ethical, adaptive digital counseling services that support the well-being of Generation Z

Abstract

This study aims to examine the role of life narratives in the psychological trauma recovery process of sexual violence survivors, integrating an Islamic perspective as an analytical framework. The study employed a qualitative approach using the Written Narrative Inquiry (WNI) method, collecting data through online written narratives via an open-ended essay questionnaire in Google Forms. Five female sexual violence survivors were selected through purposive sampling with an online snowball sampling technique. The data were analyzed using narrative thematic analysis combined with an Islamic perspective, encompassing the values of patience, tawakkul (trust), ḥ if ẓ al-nafs (relief in the heart), and tazkiyatun nafs (relief in the heart). The results showed that the survivors' narrative patterns progressed from a phase of disorientation to one of acceptance and self-identity reconstruction, with family as the primary source of support. Several respondents showed signs of post-traumatic growth (PTG), namely positive psychological growth after a crisis. The findings also revealed limited access to professional mental health services, with none of the respondents receiving formal psychological support. This study confirms that written narratives composed by survivors themselves can serve as a meaningful tool for emotional recovery. Strengthening survivor-friendly mental health services and developing community-based social support systems are urgently needed to ensure effective and sustainable recovery for victims of sexual violence in Indonesia. The research findings indicate that the values of patience, trust in God, and maintaining self-dignity (ḥifẓ al-nafs) emerge as sources of meaning that help survivors rebuild their self-identity and hope in life, thereby contributing to their psychological recovery through written narratives. The findings of this study can serve as a basis for developing narrative-based support services and Islamic values to facilitate survivors' psychological recovery.
