Abstract

This research addresses the problem of students’ low interest in social studies, which is often perceived as overly theoretical, monotonous, and lacking relevance to everyday life. These perceptions contribute to low motivation and limited student participation during learning activities. The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of integrating an operant conditioning approach into social studies learning to improve academic achievement. The study employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design, involving two junior high school classes. The experimental group received treatment through the application of reward and punishment strategies based on operant conditioning principles, while the control group underwent conventional instruction. Results showed a significant increase in academic achievement in the experimental group compared to the control group. These findings indicate that reinforcement-based learning can effectively enhance students' motivation and academic performance in social studies. The implication of this study highlights the value of incorporating psychological approaches into teaching strategies. Applying operant conditioning can help teachers create a more conducive and engaging learning environment, encouraging student participation and supporting better learning outcomes. Therefore, behaviorist strategies, particularly reinforcement, are recommended as a practical approach to address motivational issues in social studies education

Abstract

Effective waste management requires active community participation and consistent enforcement of regulations. In Palangka Raya City, a time-restricted waste disposal policy has been implemented, as stipulated in the Mayor Regulation (Perwali) of Palangka Raya No. 43 of 2017 concerning the Implementation of Regional Regulation No. 1 of 2017 on Waste Management and Environmental Cleanliness. However, violations of this regulation still frequently occur. This study aims to analyze the role of the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) of Palangka Raya City in enforcing compliance with designated waste disposal times. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, data were collected through interviews, field observations, and document analysis. The findings reveal that although Satpol PP has carried out its educational, preventive, and repressive functions, low public awareness remains the primary obstacle to effective enforcement. Most offenders claimed to be unaware of the regulation, indicating a lack of intensive socialization and weak dissemination of information. Therefore, stronger cross-sector collaboration and more persuasive and participatory approaches are needed to foster a culture of environmental discipline within the community

Abstract

The implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum demands a fundamental paradigm shift in human resource management (HRM) within Senior High Schools. This study aims to analyze the transformation of educational HRM, specifically focusing on strategies to enhance teacher competence and adapt to the digital demands of the new curriculum. Employing a descriptive qualitative approach, this research maps the dynamics of HR governance in navigating policy changes. The results indicate that schools are shifting from rigid administrative management to more adaptive and flexible approaches. Key transformation strategies identified include the transition to bottom-up professional development, the utilization of the Merdeka Mengajar Platform (PMM) for data-driven supervision, and the alignment of teacher organizational culture with the Pancasila Student Profile. The study concludes that effective HRM transformation is crucial for creating a responsive educational ecosystem and supporting teachers' evolution from mere curriculum executors to innovative learning designers. These findings offer practical insights for school leaders in managing workforce agility amidst educational reforms

Abstract

Current economics learning practices are predominantly reliant on two-dimensional media such as PowerPoint and Canva, which often fail to visualize abstract economic concepts effectively. This limitation reduces student engagement and understanding of real-world economic contexts. This study aims to analyze the specific needs for developing Virtual Reality (VR)-based economics learning media. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, data were collected through semi-structured interviews and documentation from Economics teachers and High School students in Pontianak City and Kubu Raya Regency. The data were analyzed using an interactive model comprising data condensation, display, and verification. The results indicate a significant gap between the static media currently used and the students' need for immersive learning experiences. Specifically, teachers and students identified a critical need for VR simulations to visualize complex topics such as Market Mechanisms, International Trade, and Stock Exchanges. Furthermore, the study highlights that successful VR implementation requires user-friendly interfaces and compatibility with existing school infrastructure. These findings serve as a foundational reference for developing valid and practical VR media to enhance critical thinking and learning motivation in Economics

Abstract

This study aims to conceptually analyze the strategic role of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) in developing the Critical Reasoning dimension of the Pancasila Student Profile in the context of Social Studies (IPS) learning. Amidst the challenges of IPS learning which tends to be theoretical and passive, the Independent Curriculum demands an innovative, student-centered approach. Using a qualitative literature study method, this study examines and synthesizes various scientific sources to map the alignment between the syntax (stages) of PBL and the key elements of critical reasoning skills. The analysis results show that each phase in PBL from problem orientation, learning organization, investigation, presentation of results, to process evaluation is systematically designed to train students in acquiring and processing information, analyzing reasoning, reflecting on thoughts, and making decisions. PBL creates a learning ecosystem that not only addresses the issue of the relevance of IPS material by presenting it in a real-world context, but also inherently stimulates the development of other dimensions of the Pancasila Student Profile such as mutual cooperation, independence, and creativity. It is concluded that PBL is a highly aligned and effective pedagogical framework for implementing the objectives of the Independent Curriculum, particularly in producing a generation capable of critical thinking in facing the complexities of the times.

Abstract

The role of the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM) of the Ministry of Villages, Disadvantaged Regions, and Transmigration is central to strengthening capacity building for the implementation of sustainable tourism in Indonesian village destinations. Capacity development for local communities has become increasingly important as village tourism grows as a strategic sector capable of supporting environmental conservation, cultural preservation, and inclusive economic development. By examining policy documents, training reports, and empirical literature on village tourism governance, the analysis highlights how BPSDM contributes to enhancing human resource competencies, improving institutional capacity, and fostering community participation in tourism management. Findings indicate that BPSDM’s initiatives encompass technical tourism training, community empowerment, vocational education, and structured mentoring tailored to the characteristics of each village. These efforts help strengthen local institutions such as Pokdarwis and village-owned enterprises, while also encouraging environmentally responsible behavior aligned with sustainable tourism principles. Collaboration with UN Tourism further enhances training quality through access to global standards and international best practices. Overall, BPSDM’s contribution is evident not only in upgrading technical skills but also in shaping a governance ecosystem that supports effective and competitive sustainable tourism development in village settings. The results emphasize the need for continuous, adaptive, and collaborative capacity-building strategies to optimize the potential of village tourism across Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact of budget efficiency on the quality of policy briefs within the context of managing Pendapatan Asli Desa (PADes). Using a qualitative approach involving a literature review, the study found that overly strict budget efficiency practices, particularly cuts to funding for survey fieldwork, have a negative impact on the accuracy and validity of the data required for policy briefs. Studies in several Indonesian regions show that insufficient budget allocation for data collection leads to errors in the planning and implementation of village policies. While digitalisation, such as the use of SI-PADES applications, can increase efficiency, the best results are achieved when this is accompanied by increased human resource capacity and manual data validation. The study emphasises that budget efficiency in villages must be balanced with strategic allocation for representative data collection to support evidence-based policymaking. Therefore, the study recommends fiscal efficiency, local capacity building and digital innovation as the three pillars of accountable and sustainable village financial governance.
