Abstract

This research aims to identify Co-Creation within the Service Dominant Logic approach and analyze it’s influence on Tourist Experience in Penglipuran Tourism Village, Bali. This research uses quantitative descriptive research method. The independent variables of Co-Creation in this study are participation, personalization, interaction, and involvement, while the dependent variable is Tourist Experience. The sample gained 117 respondents with purposive sampling techniques. Through implementation of Co-Creation, showing that the personalization variable bring deep impression for the tourist because of the authenticity of the culture and traditions displayed; on the involvement variable, tourists are enthusiastic about learning the local customs of Penglipuran; on the participation variable, tourists feel a deep cultural experience as they participate in meaningful tourism activities; whilst on the interaction variable, tourists actively interact directly with local residents. The variable of Tourist Experience shows that tourists gain a lot of inspiration and overall tourists get satisfying experience from the services, activities and amenities. Analyzing the impact showed that Co-Creation simultaneously has a positive and significant influence toward Tourism Experience, while partially variables of personalization and involvement have an influence on Tourist Experience. This left two other variables, which is participation and interaction have no effect on the tourist experience.

Abstract

This study explores the cultural and spatial limitations surrounding the use of traditional houses (Sa’o) as tourist accommodations in Kampung Adat Wologai, a cultural village in Ende Regency, East Nusa Tenggara, Indonesia. While rural tourism and desa wisata development often promote homestays in vernacular architecture, the sacred function of the Sa’o renders such usage inappropriate in Wologai. Using a qualitative case study approach, this research draws on field observations, semi-structured interviews with key stakeholders—including Mosalaki, village officials, tourism groups, and the local tourism office—and secondary data from academic and government sources. The findings reveal that the Sa’o are central to ancestral rituals and cannot be opened to outsiders for overnight stays. In response, the Dinas Pariwisata proposed a terminological and spatial distinction between rumah adat and rumah tradisional to guide future accommodation planning. A SWOT and SOAR analysis shows potential for homestay development through modern houses located outside the ritual core, reflecting cultural respect while meeting tourism demands. This research highlights the need for localized policy approaches and the vital role of customary leadership in sustainable tourism planning. Theoretically, it contributes to the discourse on heritage and tourism, while practically, it offers a culturally sensitive model for accommodation development in desa wisata with strong ritual traditions.

Abstract

This study examines the impressions of 174 visitors to the Wonderful Indonesia booth at Arabian Travel Market (ATM) Dubai 2024 regarding the 7P marketing mix (Product, Price, Place, Promotion, People, Process, and Physical Evidence) with a Likert scale questionnaire ranging from 1 to 5. The k-means analysis technique categorizes respondents into three clusters according on perceptual similarities, with Cluster 2 (62.64%) representing the most favourable group and Cluster 3 (20.11%) the most critical. ANOVA results indicate significant differences (p<0.001) among clusters, particularly in Price (F=116.144) and Process (F=96.267), which are the primary distinguishing factors. The examination of Euclidean distance indicates that the greatest gap between Clusters 2 and 3 is 4.592 signifying significant polarization of perceptions. The results demonstrate that Product achieved the greatest score (Mean=4.45) whereas Process and Price represented the primary deficiencies in Cluster 3. The strategic implications underscore the necessity for marketing distinction through segmentation particularly by enhancing service protocols and modifying pricing structures. This study offers an empirical foundation for formulating Indonesian tourism strategies in the global market.

Abstract

Prambanan Traditional Market's strategic position within the Yogyakarta-Klaten cultural tourism corridor offers significant potential as a heritage tourism destination. However, its 2020 physical revitalization failed to enhance visitor engagement or the local economy due to neglecting socio-cultural practices that constitute the market's authentic identity. This study analyzes the causes of revitalization failure and develops a culture-led regeneration model through a Systematic Literature Review (PRISMA framework) of 30 journal articles (2014-2024) on Javanese markets and cultural tourism. Findings reveal that prioritizing physical modernization over intangible heritage degraded relational ecosystems—particularly meaningful bargaining rituals and ngalap berkah spiritual practices. Successful cases like Beringharjo Market preserved socio-spiritual interactions through community-driven governance. The research proposes the 3C Framework: Cultural Coding restores spatial philosophies enabling symbolic interactions; Community Co-Creation establishes cultural councils for participatory tourism curation; and Corridor Integration syncs market practices with heritage rituals through narrative trails. The framework reorients policies toward protecting intangible heritage via oral tradition schools and embedded cultural narratives, shifting paradigms from physical-centric approaches to cultural embodiment. This positions traditional markets as living heritage ecosystems where human relationality supersedes physical structures, transforming Prambanan into an authentic cultural gateway that sustains local economies through experiential tourism.

Abstract

The massive development of tourism in the Kaliurang area of Yogyakarta over several decades has had a significant impact on environmental changes, both physical and non-physical. One of the impacts felt as a result of the massive tourism activities in the Kaliurang area is waste. The waste produced by tourists from various tourist activities in the Kaliurang area every day is voluminous, in addition to the waste produced by the local community. Unfortunately, tourism operators leave waste management and handling to the village government, which has a limited management system. This situation has persisted for years, leading to waste accumulation. In 2025, the local government, together with BUMKal, attempted to address the existing waste crisis by establishing a Waste Management House (RPS) with a digital system. This governance requires multi-actor cooperation (government, tourism operators, and local communities) to overcome the waste crisis through cross-actor collaboration. The responses that emerge from the interaction of these three actors can be categorised into four types, namely structural responses, socio-cultural responses, technological and innovative responses, and economic responses. The formalisation of waste institutions is not only a solution to poor waste management systems but also a new, more systematic governance model for environmental and socio-cultural welfare for multiple actors in the Kaliurang tourism area.
