Abstract

Selat Hilir Sub-district is one of crowded areas (slums) located near the market and riverside. In several crowded areas many stay-home mothers’ ages of 30-46 who went to school up to Junior High School (SMP) have much spare time. One of these groups is the group of RT.017 Selat Hilir Sub-district who generally manage their household without adequate skills. The potency of Home Industry Patchwork Art and Quilting of Dayak Batik as innovative interior design product can become a solution in an effort to increase family income and to increase the people’s prosperity in Selat Hilir Sub-district, by making products from wasted fabrics into a high end and high-priced products in Kuala Kapuas. Also, making such artworks and products is still something new which people of Central Borneo aren’t familiar yet. Therefore, a training is required. The training is as followed: (1) preparation of module of basic knowledge of patchwork art and quilting and try out; (2) excecution, making patterns, printing patternts to fabrics, cutting and sewing; (3) evaluation, some products from training are tablecloths, pillow cover, flower pot base, doormats and face masks. Abstract

This community service activity aims to provide training for lecturers and students in producing journal articles that can be submitted for publication in the Sinta 2 journal and Scopus journal. This activity was carried out through a web seminar due to the condition of the Covid-19 pandemic which made it impossible to conduct conventional training. Organizers of this activity are Pamulang University and Bina Insani University. This activity was attended by lecturers and students from DKI Jakarta, West Java, Central Java, East Java, Bali and East Kalimantan. The method of carrying out this activity consists of several stages. The first stage is the planning stage through discussion with the organizers to meet the expectations of participants regarding the benefits of this activity. The second stage is the delivery of material and discussion through web seminar via Zoom application and Google Meet. The third stage is further online discussion with participants who need additional explanations. Based on feedback obtained from the participants, this activity is very useful for participants and motivates participants to improve the quality of research articles so that they can be submitted for publication in the Sinta 2 journal and Scopus journal.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i2.4244

Abstract

COVID-19 is a SARS virus infection that has spread throughout the world including in Indonesia. The existence of this pandemic has a significant impact on all countries, such as health, economy, education, and all supporting sectors of a country. In Indonesia itself adapting the New Normal to deal with this global pandemic. New Normal is associated with new habit changes that also impact the health level of children. So, the purpose of community service (PKM) is to provide education as an effort to increase the child's immune system in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. This PKM is implemented at the Baca Rumah Kita Foundation in the Mejoyo Tenggilis sub-district. This PKM is carried out by presenting counseling to school-age children with interactive methods and games as well as health checks as screening and providing supplements to improve the child's immune system. Based on the PKM results, it was found that the children were enthusiastic about this activity. From the results of health screening, participants aged 5-10 years were 84.21%. With a nutritional status of 47.37% less, 15.79% less nutrition, 26.32% good nutrition, and 10.53% over nutrition. Based on the results of this screening, it can be used as a measure that the growth and development of children in this region needs special attention, especially during the current pandemic.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v6i2.5001

Abstract

Continuous use of plastic will use up some non-renewable natural resources. Besides it produces several substances which are harmful to human health. Utilization of plastic waste is an effort to reduce plastic waste to a minimum that can be done by recycling. The large number of plastic bag waste around the environment has led to the idea of ​​using it into creative products that have artistic and economic value for residents around the campus. Based on this background, a problem arises. The lack of ability to recycle plastic waste into valuable products, therefore a movement needed to educate and provide skills to the community to recycle plastic waste. The purpose of this activity is to provide education and provide training to the environment around the campus, especially housewives and young women to recycle money into crafts from used plastic bags in the hope that it can reduce waste and generate new business opportunities, namely handicraft handicrafts from used plastic bags. Implementation of activities, namely providing counseling and practical skills to make products from plastic bag waste. Abstract

Teachers must be able to increase the standard of their student's education. Various innovations in improving the quality of learning can be done through Classroom Action Research. However, the facts show that the productivity of teachers at SMP 'Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang has not shown significant development. As part of efforts to improve the quality of student learning in class, many teachers have not been able to implement Classroom Action Research. Therefore, this service seeks to provide classroom action research training assistance to teachers of SMP 'Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah Malang. This service program is carried out in four structured activities, namely sharing, concept expository, training and mentoring, and writing research articles. Through the activities that have been carried out, it was found that the main cause of the absence of the research being conducted was motivation. Through psychological strengthening and intensive mentoring, supported by a strategy to develop worksheet instruments, can provide significant results. Teachers of SMP 'Aisyiyah Muhammadiyah 3 Malang can design and produce classroom action research.

Abstract

In the new normal era, many company leaders have restarted their business places for economic turnaround. The workplace has a major contribution to the spread of COVID-19 so efforts need to be made to break the chain of transmission. The workplace is a gathering place for a number of working populations and mobility is so high, work activities also lead to worker interaction. This community service aims to giving knowledge how to prevent COVID-19 transmission in office or industry and giving knowledge how to make beverage rich in antioxidant and vitamin C to boost immune system. This community service consists of several steps including the preparation step which includes determining the time for the implementation of counseling, making material modules, making flyers and distributing flyers. The next step is the implementation step which includes the delivery of material, questions and answers regarding extension materials and demonstrations of making Lemongrass Coolant. The implementation step was done by zoom online media the final step of this activity is evaluation by filling the questions using Google Form. The participants were 41 people who work as lecturer, human resources department, undergraduate students, government employees, etc. Prevention of COVID-19 transmission is carried out by complying with the guidelines for the Decree of the Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia Number HK. 01.07/MENKES/328/2020. Making Lemongrass Coolant as a healthy drink rich in antioxidants as an immune booster does not require expensive ingredients and is also easy to manufacture. Abstract

The COVID-19 virus has infected many people, resulting in death tolls around the world. So, it is necessary to adopt a clean and healthy lifestyle and implement health protocols such as using masks, washing hands and maintaining distance. This community service activity aims to provide education and assistance to community representatives in Desa Bojongsoang, Bandung, to always implement a healthy and clean lifestyle and health protocols. Educational activities are carried out by providing counseling with the methods of lectures, discussions, and questions and answers. Material delivery is also conveyed through the media of posters, so that the posters can be affixed to strategic areas so that it can be seen and read effectively. In this activity, an evaluation of the level of community compliance in implementing health protocols while outside the home was also carried out, by distributing questionnaires before the activity took place. As a result, in general the community is disciplined in applying health protocols while outside the home. Several findings were also obtained in this simple survey, so that these findings can be used as initial data/information for local stakeholders to streamline education and socialization in efforts to prevent the massif transmission of the COVID-19 virus.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v6i2.5354

Abstract

Batik Tulis Dewandaru UKM only does batik coloring. The method is done by dipping the batik into a tub and then shaking it by the operator, causing an awkward and less functional posture. Based on the above problems, the Community Service team provided a solution to implement dyeing and fixation technology. The first part is an oil drum made from Galvanized Steel Sheets JIS G3302 SGCC with a thickness of 1.8 mm, a sufficient 20 liters volume. It is equipped with a stainless steel pipe roller SS 304. The second part is a frame made of angled iron (L40x40x3), 50x50x1,25 hallow iron. , frame dimensions 1940 mm (W) x 660 mm (W) x 1600 mm (H). The third part of the fabric support pipe with a total of 4 (cross), is made of SS 304 stainless steel pipe material, 1870 mm long. The fourth part of the player, made of SS 304 stainless steel pipe material, 325 mm long, doubles as a media to rotate the cloth and drain it. The tool, which weighs 75 kg, makes the dyeing process shorter, which is 11 minutes. With the new tools, crafters can dye up to 35 fabrics to produce more fabric with perfect coloring.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v5i3.4977

Abstract

Bohulo Village, North Gorontalo District, is mostly agricultural land planted with rice and maize. The abundant maize yields in the area have not been followed by maximum utilization. The problem is, the farmers' ability to sell their crops is limited. Therefore, it is necessary to increase the use of crops, especially corn, into processed products that can increase community income, namely in the form of corn brownies. The purpose of this community empowerment program is technology transfer to increase the economic value of corn. This approach method is a participatory method consisting of site surveys, training and evaluation. This activity shows the enthusiasm of the community, especially the women in Family Welfare Education or PKK, corn farmers, and community leaders in Bohulo Village. Corn that is processed into various kinds of food not only adds attractiveness but also provides opportunities to increase income so that it can improve community welfare. Abstract

This community service program focuses on mentoring and developing small business based on culture. The partner of this activity is Paguyuban Sangga Braja which is located in Batu City. Paguyuban Sangga Braja has a cultural product called as udeng or the typical headband of Batu City. This udeng is designed with an emphasis on the history, philosophy and local wisdom of Batu City which also aims to become a traditional characteristic of Batu City. The problem faced by partner is that partner has an expectation that this cultural product will become a characteristic of Batu City, unfortunately people of Batu City are still not aware with the existence of this udeng. So, problem focus in this program is related to the marketing of this udeng in Batu City so that it is better known by public. To overcome this problem, the community service team helps partner in terms of assistance and improvement from the marketing aspect. Visual video and booklet used were chosen as the right alternative at that moment because it can be used to inform people about the existence of udeng and increase public awareness of this product in Batu City. In addition, the team also provided assistance to the IPR registration so that the copyright of Udeng could be more secure. The results of this community service show quite good results with video and booklet containing the philosophy and ways of using udeng as a marketing medium and an IPR certificate to protect the copyright of this udeng.DOI: https://doi.org/10.26905/abdimas.v6i2.5171
