Abstract

This research aims to determine the mineral content of activated charcoal made from kluwak seed shell, the quality of activated charcoal made from kluwak seed shell, and the absorption capacity of kluwak seed shell charcoal as adsorbent of polluted well water after testing. From the results of XRF analysis, it can be seen that there are still several types of impurities in activated carbon shells of kluwak seeds. It can be said that the activated carbon obtained is not yet fully pure activated carbon because pure activated carbon only contains 100% carbon. Where the quality of activated charcoal made from kluwak seed shells meets the requirements of SNI-06-3730-1995 in terms of water content and ash content. And the absorption capacity of Kluwak sage shell charcoal as an adsorbent of contaminated well water after testing, namely the gravel, activated carbon, and silica sand have met the clean water eligibility standards when viewed from turbidity and color while in the gravel filter layer, silica sand, carbon and in the silica sand filter, activated carbon, gravel have not met the eligibility requirements for clean water because of the high turbidity and the solid color.

Abstract

Walking With Wave Simulation Using MATLAB Software Version 7:14. The purpose of this study wasto visualize the simulation program in the two-dimensional wave propagation, waveforms are in phase and phase difference and interference of waves in the wave superposition and wave visualization using MATLAB. This study uses a hardware specification that is a notebook with an Intel ® Core TM i3-380M, 2 GB DDR3 Memory, 320 GB HDD, Windows 7 Professional 32-bit system and the software Matlab & Simulink Release 2012a version 7.14. Making simulation starts from collecting multiple variables from multiple reference wave. The study was conducted by making the program compilers and program display the caller in the script M-file in the software matlab. Then execute all forms of variable wave existing programs in M-files in Matlab and explains all the waveforms are executed.

Abstract

Biodegradable plastics are plastics made from renewable sources and are biodegradable and environmentally friendly. To minimize the use of synthetic plastics, research was carried out on the manufacture of biodegradable plastics from glutinous corn starch (Zea mays. Ceratina) with the addition of chitosan and Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO). This study aims to see the quality of the biodegradable plastic film of glutinous corn starch with the addition of chitosan and VCO. The quality test carried out is a mechanical test consisting of a water resistance absorption test, a tensile strength test and an elongation test. FTIR analysis and biodegradability tests were also carried out. The results showed that the water-resistance test results were sample A of 42.86%, sample B of 25% and sample C of 14.29%. To test the tensile strength obtained sample A of 18.1667 MPa, sample B of 0.5171 MPa and sample C of 2.7215 MPa. For the elongation test, sample A was 2.8%, sample B was 3.85%, and sample C was 1.92%. The FTIR analysis results of the three samples showed C-H and O-H groups' presence derived from the constituent materials and the presence of C = O and C-O groups indicating that the hydrogel could be degraded. In the biodegradability test, it is known that the addition of chitosan and VCO during the decomposition of the material because it has anti-microbial properties. The data analysis carried out obtained data that met the SNI value for the tensile strength of sample A.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the relationship between light intensity and beam distance as the inverse square law. From the experimental results it was found that the relationship between light intensity with the distance of the beam that is the farther the distance of the beam used, the intensity of the light obtained will be smaller, and vice versa. From the results of research conducted, obtained results for an average light intensity of 2.0636 Cd.Keywords: light intensity, beam distance, inverse square law

Abstract

Port construction at Pantoloan has influenced the condition of port and its environment. The hidro-oceanography process has influenced the condition of water, especialy to the wind and wave condition. This research was aimed to know wind condition and wave characteristic at Pantoloan, Palu, Central Sulawesi. The method used in this research was the measurement of wave current using quantitative data processing from the ECMWF (European Center For Medium-Range Weather Forecasts) website for 10 years. The study results showed that the highest wind speed is the wind blowing from the northwest at 1.34 m/s. Wind directions that have potential to generate waves are wind from the north, northwest, west and southwest. Meanwhile, deep sea waves that occurred most frequent on study location were waves from the north (23.92%), followed by the Southwest (35.70%), the Northwest (3.70%) from the West (4.65%), and the Northeast (18.83%), the South direction is (8.08%), the Southeast direction is (2.61%), and the East direction is (2.50%) with a wave  length interval of 0-0.3 m and a period of 5 - 7.5 seconds.

Abstract

Sub-surface analysis has been conducted to find out the lithology which includes the structure, the type of rock and the thickness of the geothermal layer of geothermal resources by using the geoelectric configuration method of Wenner-Schlumberger in Kalompie Hamlet, Galung Village, Barru sub-District, Barru District. The working principle of the geoelectric method is performed by injecting an electric current to the ground surface through a pair of current electrodes and measuring the potential difference with another pair of electrodes. The research was conducted in three trajectories with a trajectory length of 105 m and a spacing of 7 m electrodes. The result of the data interpretation was obtained by three materials that is sandy soil with resistivity value 0,095 - 4,05 Ωm have thickness 1 - 12 m, tuffed sandstone with resistivity value 4,05 - 39,7 Ωm having thickness 10 - 14 m, with a resistivity value of 39.7 - 547 Ωm with a thickness of 5 - 15 m, this rock is suspected as a rock cover on Kalompie hot water source area because it has a difficult nature to pass water (impermeabel). The geological structures of fault, anticline and syncline are not found in this research because the measurement path does not cut or pass through the path of geological structure. Keywords: geoelectric, Wenner-Schlumberger configuration, geothermal

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of NaCl concentration of sea water on the value of voltage and electric current, the amount of power produced from seawater with various concentration and duration of sea water can be utilized as a source of electrical energy. Plate copper (Cu) and plate zinc (Zn) as the electrode and the concentration of NaCl sea water used were obtained from three point locations is Tanjuang Bayam coast, Barombong coast and Je’ne’berang river estuary. The results was show that the concentration of NaCl seawater affect the amount of voltage and current value of the electricity generated is greater concentration of NaCl seawater used, the greater the voltage and electrical current was generat. For the highest concentration was obtained at the point of Cape Shaded locations with large concentrations of 3,4% and a maximum power generated 0,21072 watts while the lowest concentration was obtained at the point of estuaries Jeneberang locations with large concentrations of 3,2% and a maximum power generated 0, 20 331 watts. Effective time used for the utilization of sea water which is the average for ten days to turn on the LED (Light Emithing Dioda).

Abstract

This study aims to find out the mass of coconut shell charcoal and corn cobs mass with the volume of liquid smoke produced, the utilization of liquid smoke from coconut shell and corn cob so that it can be used as fish preservative and fish quality resulting from addition of liquid smoke process. The parameters measured in this study were the ratio of mixture of the number of coconut shell and corn cob, the test of liquid smoke produced. The tested parameters of quality resulting from liquid smoke are seen from the smell, texture, color, odor and taste of the fish so that bias is said to be a good fish preservative with conventional breathing, immersion with liquid smoke and salt water immersion. Filtration using active Zeloit tools as well as Activated Carbon. Based on the results of the comparison of the material with the volume of liquid smoke produced from coconut shell and corn cob with each mass 7000 gr, 8000 gr, and 15000 gr is 200 ml, 210 ml, 500 ml. And for testing that is that fish that use conventional curing can survive with long and good result. Keywords: Conventional fumigation, active zeloit substances, activated carbon substances, and cork fish.

Abstract

Fresh and clean water is portable increasingly rare inurban areas.The rivers become the source was contaminated waste of all kinds, ranging from the elimination of organic waste, household hazardous waste to the industry. By adopting this approach the research system of water treatment with domestic sewagerecharge wells.This research was conducted in Garaganti Samata Gowa. This research is set in wells model (two wells model), firsly with tree wells and the secondly in single well which each well containing filtration materials. The results show that significant water output  are colorless, harmless and wasteless both in tree wells by partition and single well Infiltration wellshave two models. This indicated that the wells working good as like as expected. To show the quality and classify of the water output, samples are send to laboratory of Badan Lingkungan Hidup Daerah (BLHD) Province South Sulawesi, with descriptive method presented in tabular form. Result of from BLHD are compared with standart shows that the water output is clean (Peraturan Gubernur No. 69 Tahun 2010 about water quality standard limits an criteria for environmental life damaged), classified in Class III (Peraturan Pemerintah No. 20 Tahun 2010 about water quality and water allocation) and Peraturan Pemerintah No. 82 tahun 2001 about water quality criteria based on class

Abstract

This research is about the e / m electric charge ratio with the aim of (1) to determine the relationship between accelerator potential and current strength and electron beam radius, (2) to determine the value of e / m for electron particles based on calculation results and graphs. . This research uses a cathode tube and a coil which functions to generate a magnetic field. This coil is called a Helmholtz coil (a coil that has a radius equal to the distance of the two coils). Based on the research results, it was found that (1) the greater the potential value of the accelerator, the smaller the value of the electron beam radius, and vice versa, if the smaller the potential value of the accelerator, the greater the value of the electron beam radius. whereas the acceleration potential relation to the electron current strength, if the value of the accelerator voltage is enlarged, the strength of the electron current will also be greater, and vice versa; (2) the average e / m value of the calculation result is 1.67 × 1011 C / kg and the average e / m value of the graph is 1.66 × 1011 C / kg. While the percent (%) difference in the value of e / m in literature with the results of calculations and graphs is 0.05% and the percent (%) of the difference in the value of e / m in calculations with the results of the graph is 0.001%.
