Abstract

Being with many advantages such as environmental protection, controllable, facilitate measurement etc, electric heating has been promoted actively in some places .For public buildings with huge energy consumption, electric heating intelligent controlling may be the key to achieve energy conservation. In this paper, visual distributed control system (DCS) was presented in electric heating of the public buildings. In this control system, a PC was used as the host, and RS232/485 interface converter was used as serial interface of mutual conversion .Through industrial standard RS485 bus with high reliability and low cost which was the link between the host and many sets of thermostat, a one-to-many communication network was formed. The MCU of the thermostats was ATMega8 microcontroller. Meanwhile, DS18B20 integrated temperature probe was used in temperature sensor .Through the DCS test online,it met the need of each individual heating unit. Abstract

Steganography is a strategy for hiding secret information in a cover document in order to avoid attacker from predict about hidden information. Steganography exploit cover message, for instance text, audio, picture and video to hide the secret message. Before this, linguistic text steganographic techniques are implemented just for the English language. But nowadays different languages are used to hide the data like Arabic language. This language is still new in the steganography and still need practices for empowerment. This paper will present the text steganographic method for Arabic language, scholar paper within 5 year will be analyze and compared. The main objective of this paper is to give the comparative analysis in the Arabic steganography method that has been applied by previous researchers. Finally, the disadvantage and advantage of the method also will be presented in this paper.

Abstract

Most researches on wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are focused on how to save the energy of the sensor nodes. However, in some applications of WSNs, such as in the monitoring of an earthquake or a forest fire, it is much more important to transmit emergency data packets to the sink node as soon as possible than to save power. This paper proposes a novel Adaptive Congestion Avoidance Protocol (ACAP) model to provide a feasible WSNs architecture that will save the energy of the sensor nodes in the normal situation, but will transmit emergency data packets in an efficient manner to the sink node. Abstract

The characteristic of land and forest fires occurred in Indonesia are varied widely, following the variation of time within a year and geographic location. This paper describes how the spatio-temporal of forest and land fire typology was developed. The main objective of this study was to develop a spatio-temporal typology of forest and land fire by considering several key indicators that directly related to the density of active fire occurrence, such as percentage of forest area (x1), population density (x2), ratio of forest area to population (x3), ratio of plantation area to population (x4), ratio of agriculture area to population (x5), GRDP (x6), population growth (x7), deforestation growth (x8), plantation growth (x9) and dry agriculture growth (x10) as well as  MODIS-based fire hotspot. The typology analysis was performed using clustering techniques with Euclidean distance dissimilarity measure, where the grouping process was drawn with single linkage method. The temporal analysis showed that the highest occurrence of the fire hotspot was mainly found in the third quarter. It was found that the forest and land fire typology could be developed into three classes using variables x6 and x7 with overall accuracy of 78.15% or x1-x6-x7 with overall accuracy of 78.8%.  No accuracy improvement was obtained when the typology was developed using five variables x1-x3-x4-x6-x7.

Abstract

Lighting system is a crucial sub-system and consumes substantial electricity energy in the buildings. This paper proposes an intelligent lighting control system using artificial neural network (ANN). The minimization of dimming levels of luminaires has been considered as an objective function of the controller. Moreover, the light sensor field of view is also taken into consideration in objective function formulation. The proposed ANN controller has been tested on an actual office room of the Department of Mechanical Technology, Institute of Industrial Training, Selandar, Melaka, Malaysia. The simulation has been carried out using DIALux simulation lighting software. Based on the results, the proposed controller showed great performance in terms of adaptive less light sensor data and achieving dimming levels target that complies the European Standard EN12464-1. Abstract

In this paper is described introduction of Polar Earth Orbits (PEO) in the function of the Satellite Distress and Safety Systems (SDSS) for all mobile applications. The results of a technical and economic study regarding the extension of the Inmarsat Geostationary Earth Orbit (GEO) satellite system to cover polar region are reviewed. In addition, also are examined the technical and practical aspects of providing an operational polar Mobile Satellite Service (MSS) for the provision of combined distress and safety communication solutions in conjunction with a commercial and defense communication systems for maritime, land and aeronautical applications. This study is considered several PEO satellite models and their probable costs for Search and Rescue (SAR) and determination MSS solutions. The practical usage of Low PEO constellation is realized by Cospas-Sarsat international project for SDSS.

Abstract

This article describes a rapid detection method of the airport runway for remote sensing images. The specific algorithm implementation steps are: Firstly, we use the Otsu's method to separate the runway from the images. Then we use the fractional differential gradient operator, which has good anti-noise performance and effective edge extraction ability, to extract the edge information of image, and use automatic threshold to distinguish the edge of runway and other objects. Finally, we use the Hough algorithm to calculate the runway. This detection method of the airport runway, which greatly reduce the data operation and greatly enhance the computing speed, has advantage of good test results and fast speed. Abstract

As wind power penetration increases continuously in total Power Generation, the wind turbines are necessary to stay connected to grid even under grid disturbances. An enhanced control strategy for DFIG is proposed in the present paper to meet the latest grid codes set by grid operators. The decoupled current controller implemented in grid voltage oriented reference frame is applied to Grid Side Converter (GSC) to improve the dynamic performance of DFIG. The proposed scheme enhances the Low Voltage ride through capability of Wind farm by providing reactive Power support under adverse grid conditions. The Proposed scheme also counteracts the ripples in DC Link voltage, stator/rotor currents and stator/reactive power to fulfill the grid code commitments in weak grid.Simulation results are presented to verify the feasibility and robustness of the proposed control scheme.

Abstract

Modular decomposition is an effective means to achieve a complex system, but that of current part-component-based does not meet the needs of the positive development of the production. Design Structure Matrix(DSM) can simultaneously reflect the sequence, iteration, and feedback information, and express the parallel, sequential, and coupled relationship between DSM elements. This article, a modular decomposition method, named Design Structure Matrix Clustering modularize method, is proposed, concerned procedures are define, based on sorting calculate and clustering analysis of DSM, according to the rules of rows exchanges and columns exchange with the same serial number. Abstract

Single-sided NMR devices can operate under conditions inaccessible to conventional NMR while featuring portability and the ability to analyze arbitrary-sized objects. In this paper, a semi-elliptic Halbach magnet array was designed and built for single-side Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR). We present an easy-to-implement target field algorithm for single-side NMR magnet design based on Gram-Schmidt Orthogonal method. The creating magnetic field of designed magnet structure could achieve best flatness in the region of interesting for NMR applications. The optimizing result shows that the best magnet structure can generate magnetic fields which flatly distributed in the horizontal direction and the gradient was distributed in the vertical direction with gradient of 2mT/mm. The field strength and gradient were measured by a three dimensions Hall probe and agreed well with the simulations. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.11591/telkomnika.v11i10.3460
