Abstract

Adaptive processing for canceling noise is a powerful technology for signal processing that can completely remove background noise. In general, various adaptive filter algorithms are used, many of which can lack the stability to handle the convergence rate, the number of filter coefficient variations, and error accuracy within tolerances. Unlike traditional methods, to accomplish these desirable characteristics as well as to efficiently cancel noise, in this paper, the cancelation of noise is formulated as a problem of coefficient optimization, where the particle swarm optimization (PSO) is employed. The PSO is structured to minimize the error by using a very short segment of the corrupted speech. In contrast to the recent and conventional adaptive noise cancellation methods, the simulation results indicate that the proposed algorithm has better capability of noise cancelation. The results show great improvement in signal to noise ratio (SNR) of 96.07 dB and 124.54 dB for finite impulse response (FIR) and infinite impulse response (IIR) adaptive filters respectively.

Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the learning behavior of Thai learners by using a computer-based learning system for English writing. Three main objectives were set: the development of a computer-based learning system, automatic behavior data collection, and learning behavior analytics. Firstly, the system is developed under a multidisciplinary idea that is designed to integrate two concepts between the self-regulated learning model and components of natural language processing. The integration design encourages self-learning in the digital learning environment and supports appropriate English writing by the provided component selection. Second, the system automatically collects the writing behavior of a group of Thai learners. The data collected are necessary input for the process of learning analytics. Third, the writing behaviors data were analyzed to find the learning behavioral patterns of the learners. For learning analytics, behavior sequential analysis was used to analyze the learning logs from the system. The 31 undergraduate students are participated to record writing behaviors via the system. The learning patterns in relation to grammatical skills were compared between three groups: basic, intermediate, and advanced levels. The learning behavior patterns of the three groups are different that use for reflecting learners and improving the learning materials or curriculum.

Abstract

The inductive power transfer (IPT) has contributed to the fast growth of the electric vehicle (EV) market. The technology to recharge the EV battery has attracted the attention of many researchers and car manufacturers in developing green transportation. In IPT charging system, the coil design is indispensable in enhancing the EV battery charging process performance. This paper starts by describing the two charging techniques; static charging and dynamic charging before further presents the IPT system descriptions. Afterwards, this paper describes a brief review of coil designs which discusses the critical factors that affect the power transmission efficiency (PTE) including their basic designs, design concepts and features merits. The discussions on the basic coil designs for IPT are of the circular spiral coil (CSC), square coil (SC), rectangular coil (RC), and double-D coil (DDC). Furthermore, the significant advantages and limitations of each research on different geometries are analyzed and discussed in this paper. Finally, this paper evaluates some essential aspects that influence the coil geometry designs in practical.

Abstract

CubeSat is a small-sized satellite that provides a cheaper option for the manufacturer to have a fully operational satellite. Due to its size, CubeSat can only generate limited power, and this will restrict its functionality. This research aims to improve CubeSat’s power consumption by implementing the dynamic voltage and frequency scaling (DVFS) technique to on-board and data handling subsystem (OBDH). DVFS will find the best operating frequency to execute all of OBDH’s task. This paper explains how we determined the task set, representing all routine tasks performed by OBDH during normal operation mode. We have simulated the task set using two DVFS algorithms, static earliest deadline first (EDF) and cycle conserving edf (CC EDF). The result shows that both scheduling algorithms give a similar result to our task set. However, when the scheduler is configured as non-preemptive, the simulator failed to schedule the critical task. It means that the system fails to work as intended. Therefore, we conclude that we need to implement mixed-criticality scheduling to prevent critical tasks from being aborted by the system.

Abstract

Wireless sensor node is the foundation for building the next generation of ubiquitous networks or the so-called internet of things (IoT). Each node is equipped with sensing, computing devices, and a radio transceiver. Each node is connected to other nodes via a wireless sensor network (WSN). Examples of WSN applications include health care monitoring, and industrial monitoring. These applications process sensitive data, which if disclosed, may lead to unwanted implications. Therefore, it is crucial to provide fundamental security services such as identification and authentication in WSN. Nevertheless, providing this security on WSN imposes a significant challenge as each node in WSN has a limited area and energy consumption. Therefore, in this study, we provide a proof of concept of a lightweight authentication protocol by using physical unclonable function (PUF) technology for resource-constrained wireless sensor nodes. The authentication protocol has been implemented on NodeMCU ESP8266 devices. A server-client protocol configuration has been used to verify the functionality of the authentication protocol. Our findings indicate that the protocol used approximately 7% of flash memory and 48% of static random-access memory (SRAM) in the sensor node during the authentication process. Hence, the proposed scheme is suitable to be used for resource-constrained IoT devices such as WSN.

Abstract

Artificial neural networks (ANNs) is an efficient way for different types of real-world prediction problems. In the past decade, it has given a tremendous surge in a global research activities. ANNs embody much certainty and provide a great deal of promise This paper has present artificial neural network (ANN) technique analysis and prediction for management switching angles real-time. The proposes to be used ANN for prediction and selected obtine angles for implement the timing diagram for mulitlvel inverter circuit. In order to control the fundamental component, ANNs are used to solve the analysis of non-linear equation of the output timing diagram in order to determine the switching angles. Substantially, the number of switching devices are reducing as possible basically for reducing a switching loss in the system, also have been used ANNs technique to optimize a switching angles behavior to reduce total harmonic distortion (THD) at voltage and current output waveform equal THDV 8.05% THDA 5.1%. For the proposed controllers, the performance and results by the ANNs were obtained and compared by using MATLAB software.

Abstract

Nowadays, with the advences in ICT and rapid development of mobile internet; media information shared on the various communication networks requires the existence of adequate security measures. Cryptography becoming an effective way to meet these requirements and for maintain the confidentiality. However, communicating with encrypted messages requires secret key exchange, which is a part of a complex protocol. In this paper, we propose a new method for exchanging key based on Diffie-Hellman protocol and image registration with fast fourier transform, the principle of this method consists to concealing the key in a set of transformed images. Therefore, image registration allows finding transformations between images, which become a tool for recovering the key by the receiver.

Abstract

The search of FLC_PID controller for TCP/AQM Wireless Networks, to deal with congestion for Internet users and to get good performance and capabilities of TCP / IP networks. Neglect of controlling the network delay and the number of continuous users that leads to a problem in the transmission process. Recently, automatic control units are adapted to solve this problem with the difficulty of controlling congestion in the presence of wireless links. This modest research presents one of the traditional PID controller methods with fuzzy logic so that wireless networks and congestion can be controlled by various configurations. The proposed methods were simulated with the required comparisons in the adoption of nonlinear systems to determine the best performance and it was found that the use of the Fuzzy logic control can achieve the best performance (reducing the delay time of delivering packets and packets loss). The simulation of the current work shows through its results the possibility of controlling the behavior of the system and through testing the balance when changed with time delay through the impact of communication time and its relationship with the stability of the work of the system.

Abstract

The genetic algorithm (GA) is an adaptive metaheuristic search method based on the process of evolution and natural selection theory. It is an efficient algorithm used for solving the combinatorial optimization problems, e.g., travel salesman problem (TSP), linear ordering problem (LOP), and job-shop scheduling problem (JSP). The simple GA applied takes a long time to reach the optimal solution, the configuration of the GA parameters is vital for a successful GA search and convergence to optimal solutions, it includes population size, crossover operator, and mutation operator rates. Also, very recently, many research papers involved the GA in coding theory, In particular, in the decoding linear block codes case, which has heavily contributed to reducing the complexity, and guaranting the convergence of searching in fewer iterations. In this paper, an efficient method based on the genetic algorithm is proposed, and it is used for computing the Automorphisms groups of low density parity check (LDPC) codes, the results of the aforementioned method show a significant efficiency in finding an important set of Automorphisms set of LDPC codes.

Abstract

Locating services have come under the spotlight in recent years in various applications. However, locating methods that use received signal strength have low accuracy due to signal fluctuations. For this purpose, we present a Wi-Fi based locating system using artificial neural network to enhance the positioning process performances. We optimized the Levenberg Marquardt algorithm to propose the better configuration of the multi-layer time-delay perception neural network. We achieved an average error of 10.3 centimeters with a grid of 0.4 meter in four tests. Yet, due to the instability of the received signal strength RSS-based locating systems present a limitation in the resolution finesse that depends on the grid size.
