Abstract

High-thermal solid phase reactions produced a series of bright green-yellow phosphors called Ca3SiO4Cl2,Eu2+,Mn2+ (CaM). For example, powder dispersed reflection, photoluminescence excitation (PE), and along with emission spectra, were used to determine their luminous characteristics at between 10 K and 450 K of temperature. While the CaM exhibits wide absorption bands in the 250-450 nm range, which matches the near-uv of the InGaN-based chips, they also display two dominant absorptions, attributed to the 5d → 4f Eu2+ transformation, as well as the 4T1g(4G) → 6A1g(6S) transfer of the two ions Eu2+ and Mn2+, respectively. Increasing the concentration of Mn2+ ion reduces the lifespan of the Eu2+ ion. This encourages an efficient energy exchange between these two ions. The UV light leakage issue in yellow LEDs was resolved by intergrating with n-UV InGaN chips and CaM. Powerful white LEDs were then created by mixing blue chlorophosphate with CaM. Its color coordinate was (0.3281,0.3071), and the associated color temperature (TC) was 6065 K, while the general hue rendering (Ra) and illuminating effectiveness (11 lm/W) were respectively 84.5 and 11 lm/W.

Abstract

The rapid growth of the market for the use of renewable energy has increased the use of solar energy which has a significant role in power generation. This requires the insertion of equipment capable of providing precise measurements of the photovoltaic modules, either to verify the operation of the installation or to find specific problems. In this scenario, the current versus voltage curve tracer is used to describe the electrical behavior of the photovoltaic system through all the operating possibilities, but it has an excessive cost for small installations. This paper presents the development of a current-voltage curve tracer, capable of performing current, voltage and power measurements, contributing to the creation of equipment to test photovoltaic installations. The methods to obtain the I-V curves are presented and the characteristics of the embedded electronic system, which is based on an electronic load, are defined. As results, the simulations carried out for the variable load control, acquisition circuits and the implemented system are shown. In addition, the operation of the human-machine interface and the comparison with a commercial equipment are shown for reference.

Abstract

Many power converter architectures and control approaches, both traditional and unconventional, have been developed, investigated, and adjusted to handle the challenge of tracking the maximum power points of a partially shaded photovoltaic (PV) system, which fluctuates with meteorological conditions (radiation and temperature). A DC-DC converter was used as the power conditioning unit to determine the system’s maximum efficiency. In this research, we focus on developing a nonlinear controller for a DC-DC converter to track the overall maximum power point in a PV storage system under partial shading situations. This study presents a combination of two MPP search algorithms with a backstepping controller. The particle swarm optimization (PSO) and variable step Perturb and Observe (P&O)with global scan (VSP&O/GS) algorithms supply the PV output reference voltage to the backstepping controller in order to recover the maximum power from photovoltaic (PV) systems. The simulation results of the methods compared to the proposed maximum power point (MPPT) algorithm are simulated and examined in the MATLAB/Simulink environment under non-uniform irradiation conditions. To demonstrate the performance and limits of each approach in tracking the maximum power point.

Abstract

Although it is true that artificial intelligence and data science have become key tools that contribute to the improvement of many processes, identifying patterns and contributing to decision making, however, there are environments in which they are not yet being using it relevantly and effectively. The objective of this study is to identify the relevant factors, based on the opinions expressed by the students through the social network Twitter regarding the perception of satisfaction with the teaching performance during the virtual learning environment. For which sentiment analysis and text mining are used under the Python programming language environment, through JupyterLab. As results, it was determined that a predominance of 57.27% of positive polarity, identifying that the relevant factors of student satisfaction with teaching performance, are related to the development of the teacher in the class sessions that contributes to the learning of the process control subject through the use of simulation tools such as simulink and tools linked to proportional integral derivative (PID) controllers; on the other hand, there is a percentage of negative polarity of 15.45% that belongs to the factors linked to the laboratory sessions in which graphic representation and block diagrams were used to explain the class session.

Abstract

Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) contain an inordinate number of sensor nodes that are spatially distributed. The network is composed of entities that determine its lifetime. The WSN nodes are equipped with a battery whose autonomy is limited in duration. In this paper, different solutions are introduced to improve the overall energy consumption of the network in order to improve its lifetime. Contrary to many works considering the clustering algorithm as one potential candidate to improve the network's lifetime, this study has investigated the firefly algorithm optimization where an optimal cluster head is selected from a group of nodes. The set-up process of the cluster head is based on a set of conditions. To measure the performance of the proposed approach, the number of dead nodes and data packets received by the base station (BS) or sink node are considered. The results are tested on 100 nodes for 5000 transmission rounds, the amount of data transported is 20 million bits a little more than the other methods. It has been shown that the proposed solution outperformed the traditional low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH), threshold sensitive energy efficient sensor network (TEEN), and developed distributed energy-efficient clustering (DEEC) approaches.

Abstract

A new hybrid algorithm named discrete salp swarm algorithm that integrates effectiveness of weights, Lévy flights, and an excellent classifier, support vector machine (SVM), has been proposed to predict Parkinson's disease. In the proposed algorithm, salp swarm algorithm (SSA) is used as a feature selection tool, which targets to reduce the noise in features of the speech PD dataset to improve the SVM classifier's prediction accuracy. The efficacy and usefulness of the proposed discrete salp swarm algorithm with Lévy flights have been meticulously assessed against the speech PD dataset in terms of G-mean, accuracy, F-measure, specificity, sensitivity, and precision measures. DWLSSA has achieved values of the measures, 97.76%, 98.75%, 98.77%, 97.37%, 98.15%, and 99.39% respectively. Comparison of DWLSSA with other nature inspired algorithms applied to predict Parkinson’s shows that the proposed DWLSSA performs better. It can be also said that DWLSSA can be an alternative for solving the NP-hard problems.

Abstract

Computer modelling and simulation methods are very important and play a critical role in the mitigation and response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In this study, we propose a computational modeling technique based on Cellular Automata (CA) with realistic proposed rules. The rules are designed to simulate the propagation of COVID-19 disease through a bounded area. Our proposed CA rules are novel in many respects. For on, the classification of neighbors to nearest neighbors and range of neighbors based on cellular layers is explained. Moreover, the concepts of time generation and access time are deployed for the first time to model the propagation of the disease over time in this work. Further details of the proposed model including the topology of the defined area, the initial states of the cells and four-layer transfer mechanism are explained as well. This work may be considered a criterion of spreading for COVID-19 from point source in a defined population area. The results of the proposed algorithm represent the percentage of the population whose infectious status is described by different cellular state objects after a defined generation time. The results are compared under different circumstances and analyzed equanimity.

Abstract

This paper aims to review microstrip antennas for various applications. The design of microstrip patch antennas is a new research field developed for use in 5th generation communication applications. An antenna is a collection of multiple devices connected together that function as a single antenna to send or receive radio waves. Antennas can be of different shapes and sizes. The microstrip patch is an antenna pattern that is light in weight, low profile, and focuses on producing results. In the future, microstrip patch antennas may be used for some 6G communication systems applications. In addition, 6G communication applications can be created on other devices, including biomedical, autonomous vehicles, vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication, internet of things (IoT), machine learning, Artificial Neural Network Algorithms, radar, and wireless communication. In the past, the multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) pattern was a standard geometry used in 4G wireless applications. This paper discusses the geometric structures of antennas, various analysis methods for antenna characteristics, antenna dimensions, and many different types of antennas. Also, it will discuss the previous papers' substrate materials, loss tangent, thickness, return loss, bandwidth, voltage-standing-wave-ratio (VSWR), gain, and directivity.

Abstract

Robots with autonomous capabilities depend on vision capabilities to detect and interact with objects and their environment. In the field of robotic research, one of the focus areas is the robosoccer platform that is being used to implement and test new ideas and findings on computer vision and decision making. In this article, an efficient real-time object detection algorithm is employed in a robosoccer simulation environment by deploying a convolution neural network and Kalman filter based tracking algorithms. This study's objective is to classify nao, ball, and the goalpost as well as to validate nao and ball tracking without human intervention from initial frame to last frame. In comparison with the existing methods, the proposed method is robust and fast in identifying three classes namely nao, ball, and goalpost with a speed of 1.67 FPS and a mAP of 95.18%. By implementing this approach, soccer playing robots can make appropriate decisions during game play.

Abstract

A multi-objective optimized hybrid image watermarking technique is being proposed considering robustness, imperceptibility and security aspects using two different scaling factors. In this technique, original image is subjected to third level lifting wavelet transform (LWT) followed by singular value decomposition (SVD). Watermark is split into two parts to embed each of them into a different subband. In the suggested scheme, firefly algorithm is employed to get optimum solutions for two scaling factors to balance trade-off amid invisibility and robustness. Security in digitized data is an important aspect of image processing. It is improved with a key, an input to Arnold transform for scrambling watermark, to watermark embedding and extraction procedures. All the performance parameters like peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR), structural similarity index measure (SSIM), normalized correlation coefficient (NCC) and bit error rate (BER) are used in formulating maximization objective function. Evaluation of the proposed algorithm indicates that it is characterized by fairly good robustness, invisibility and security.
