Abstract

The spillway on the dam functions as a safeguard against the dangers of flood water, which overflows gradually to prevent overtopping. The estimated design of flood discharge uses the SCS SUH method, while outflow discharge is calculated through spillway routing based on reservoir storage characteristics. The study results show that the maximum flood discharge with a return period of 2 years up to the Probable Maximum Flood (PMF) scenario is 420.26 m³/s to 2,288.05 m³/s respectively. Spillway routing is carried out to drain flood water from the reservoir, with a maximum outflow discharge of 44.4 m³/s to 1,250.5 m³/s, according to the flood return period. This reservoir is able to reduce flooding significantly, with a flood reduction of 89.4% at a return period of 2 years and 45.3% for PMF. The water level at the spillway was measured at various return periods, indicating there was no overtopping until the PMF flood event. Bulango Ulu Dam, which is designed with a top Dam elevation of +105 m, can safely withstand PMF flood discharge.

Abstract

Historically, lubricants have relied on petroleum derivatives, but depleting resources necessitate alternatives. Vegetable oils are unstable for use due to oxidation but can be improved via chemical modification. This study examines bio-lubricant production from palm kernel oil, focusing on hydroxylation reaction time and compliance with SNI 06.7069:2012 standards. The production of bio lubricants in this study comprised three distinct stages: hydrolysis, epoxidation, and hydroxylation. Hydrolysis involves the processing of palm kernel oil to yield fatty acids and glycerol. Subsequently, the fatty acids produced during the hydrolysis reaction were epoxidized to yield the epoxy compounds. Subsequently, the epoxy compound is subjected to hydroxylation, resulting in the formation of a polyol compound that serves as the fundamental building block for the bio lubricants. Optimal bio lubricants outcomes were achieved with a hydroxylation reaction time of 240 min, resulting in a bio lubricants yield of 92.67, a kinematic viscosity value of 48.54 Cst at 313.15°K/40°C, a kinematic viscosity value of 10.89 Cst at 373.15°K/100°C, a viscosity index of 224, and a corrosion rate of 0.1496 mpy. The quality of the bio lubricants produced in this study was in accordance with the SNI 06.7069:2012 standard.

Abstract

This research aims to make the process of picking goods according to their type easier, so that the distance of transporting materials is shorter than the previous distance. FSN Analysis classifies goods based on the frequency of demand, and Class Based Storage groups goods based on their category (FSN) and places them in strategic locations in the warehouse. In this research, changes to the warehouse layout were made manually based on the results of the FSN analysis and the application of the Class Based Storage method. The results of the FSN Analysis are 7 types of Fast moving category goods, 6 types of Slow moving category goods, and 2 types of Non-moving category goods. FSN analysis is made by sorting all frequencies of goods from the highest value, as well as cumulative calculations and frequency percentages. By comparing the initial layout with the proposed layout, data processing results in a total decrease from IDR 6.558.992,00/ month to IDR 3.825.480,00/ month, or 41,7% more efficient by using the proposed layout based on the Class Based Storage method and FSN Analysis reduce moment material handling 42%. Therefore, it can be concluded that the problem of storing goods in PT XY's warehouse will be solved if using a storage optimization policy that uses the Class Based Storage method and FSN Analysis as a review and reference material in arranging future storage layouts.

Abstract

The JCI is an important indicator that reflects the performance of the Indonesian stock market. In recent times, the JCI has faced significant fluctuations due to complex factors, including global economic conditions and market sentiment, which make predicting its movements challenging. Good prediction is needed to support market stability and sustainable economic development as per SDGs point 8. This study applies a modern nonparametric regression method, namely Support Vector Regression (SVR), to predict a dataset in the form of weekly JCI data from the period April 2022 to October 2024 obtained from the investing.com website. The analysis shows that the SVR model with RBF kernel function provides the best performance, with MAPE of 1.43%, RMSE of 121.6196, and MAE of 104.65. The findings also reveal that the fluctuation pattern of the JCI cannot be fully explained based solely on historical data. External variables, such as global economic conditions and market sentiment, have a significant influence on the prediction results. Therefore, the SVR method can be utilized to optimize portfolio allocation based on weekly JCI predictions. In addition, the results of this study provide guidance for policymakers in designing proactive economic policies to mitigate market volatility and increase investor confidence.

Abstract

Flexible pavement utilises asphalt as a binding agent. The pavement layer transmits and distributes the weight from the road or flexible pavement uniformly onto the compacted subgrade. Damage to flexible pavement results from a confluence of multiple connected factors. The purpose of the study is to ascertain the thickness of flexible pavement layers and the various forms of flexible pavement. This research employs the 2017 Bina Marga approach, utilising predicted LHR data over the design life or LHRT, to ascertain the kind and thickness of flexible pavement layers, considering the CESA4 and CESA5 values. The 2044 LHRT value for Passenger Cars and Other Light Vehicles is 33,358.7; Class 5A is 6.2; Class 5B is 4.1; Class 6A is 17.1; Class 6B is 39.1; and Class 8 or non-motorized vehicles is 280.1. The CESA4 value derived from the LHRT value was 4021566.47, whereas the CESA5 value was 469755.421. The most preferred type and thickness of flexible pavement is asphalt with a granular foundation layer, namely AC – WC pavement type at 4 cm thickness, AC – BC at 6 cm thickness, and LFA Class A at 40 cm thickness.
