Abstract

This research entitled "The Translation Method of Figurative Language in Spiritual Songs by Lauren Kaori" Aims of this research is to find out the types of figure of speech contained in Lauren Kaori's spiritual songs as well as figurative langugage of translation methods used in translating figure of speech on spiritual songs by Lauren Kaori. This research was analyzed using a qualitative descriptive method. The theory used in this research is figurative language theory according to Seto (2002), and figurative language theory according to Knickerbockers and Reninger (1963), Newmark's theory of translation methods (1998). Sources of data for this research were taken from Lauren Kaori's YouTube channel, including Cory Asbury's “Reckless Love”, Elevation Worship's “O Come To The Altar”, Hillsong Worship's “What A Beautiful Name”, Bethel Worship's “King Of My Heart” , “10000 Reasons (Bless the Lord)” by Matt Redman, “Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)” by Hillsong United. The results of this study indicate 1). hyperbolic figures of speech, metaphor, personification, tautology, synesthesia, and seven data were also found to experience a shift in translation results in translating language from BSu into BSa. 2). The translation method used is the free method, the semantic method, the communicative method, word to word method, and the literal method.

Abstract

The title of this research is "The Phenomenon of Bankonka in Drama Kazoku No Katachi by Shunichi Hirano". This study aims to find out how the phenomenon of bankonka and its causal factors in the drama Kazoku No Katachi by Shunichi Hirano. This research uses the theory of literary sociology Wellek Warren, the theory of factors that cause bankonka by Tsutsui and the theory of semiotics by Danesi. This research uses descriptive analysis method. Based on the results of the study there were three figures who experienced the phenomenon of Bankonka, namely Daisuke, Sasaki and Hanako, which was shown through a late marriage and not thinking too much about marriage. Factors causing the Bankonka phenomenon in the drama Kazoku No Katachi are divided into two sexes, male and female. Factors causing the phenomenon of bankonka in men are 1) the happiness of living alone; 2) economic factors; 3) work factors; 4) hobby factors; 5) do not feel the benefits of marriage; 6) difficult to get a partner. Factors causing the phenomenon of bankonka in women are 1) work factors; 2) hobby factors.

Abstract

This research discusses about “Obsessive Compulsive Disorder Tokoh Sata Senda in Manga Keppeki Shounen Kanzen Soubi!! By Touya Tobina”. The research aims to provide psychology knowledge about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD). The research metdod used was descriptive analysis. There were five theories used in this research, they were the psychology literature theory by Wellek and Austin (1989), theory of OCD by Wilson (2001) ,Oltmanns and Emery (2003), theory of Cognitive therapy by Aron T Beck (1976) semiotics by Danesi (2007). The result obtained from this research , Sata Senda is suffer from OCD with behavior (1) , Washing and Cleaning, (2) Ordering, (3) Checking, (4) Ritual. Physiology, Sata Senda has a neat and reclusive appearance to avoid germ and disease. Psychology, Senda OCD can be seen from his excessive behavior like washing and cleaning, ordering all things around, over checking a things again and again, and do ritual repeatly everyday. Sociologically, Senda OCD can affect people around him like ordering his friends to washing everytime they touch something. The Obsessive Compulsive Disorder in Sata Senda caused by two factors there is internal factors that can from trauma ans stress and external factors that came from people around him. The efforts of Sata Senda figure to decrease his OCD behaviour is from internally is Senda has intention to be a normal person, which is make Senda trying to overcome his OCD by decreasing his anxiety from the things that are surrounding him. Except from Senda desired to control his OCD , his friends has important rule to overcame Senda OCD

Abstract

This study is aimed at identifying the type of translation methods and their application in translating kotowaza on the Japanese Course blog Evergreen. The data were obtained by using observation method and note-taking technique. Furthermore, the analysis of the data was done by applying the translational identity method and glossing technique. The theory of translation methods by Newmark (1988) was also used in this study. The result shows that the translation of 40 kotowaza on the Japanese Course blog Evergreen use only four from eight translation methods proposed by Newmark. Based on its translation methods, the study found out that 13 data use literal translation, 9 data use adaptation, 14 data use the free translation, and 4 data use communicative translation. Kotowaza that has an equivalent in Indonesian proverb tends to be translated by using adaptation and communicative translation. However, not all kotowaza are equivalent to Indonesian proverbs with both of those methods. In this case, using literal translation is another way of translating kotowaza. Meanwhile, kotowaza which its equivalent cannot be found in Indonesian proverb is translated with literal translation or free translation.

Abstract

This research is entitled “Fashion Representation of Taisho-Showa Era in Kaze Tachinu Animation Film by Hayao Miyazaki”. Fashion style transition from wasou to yosou was found in Taisho-Showa Era. This research aims to discover the form, function, and meaning of fashion in the Taisho-Showa era which are depicted in the film. This research used literature study method and the referral method for the data accumulation, descriptive analysis method for data analysis and for analysis results presented with informal method. For the theory, this research used literary anthropology theory by Poyatos (2008), fashion form theory by Pendergast and Tom (2004), fashion function theory by Barnard (1996), and semiotics theory by Barthes (1964). Based on the analysis results, can be seen that fashion’s form that represent in Taisho-Showa era are divided into two category, first is wasou which consists of hakama, haori, kimono, mandarin shirt, obi, shimada, comb, geta, tabi, and zori, and the second one is yosou that consists of men’s suit, stockings, trench coat, men’s hats, short hair for woman, waved hair for woman, clutch purse, patent leather shoes, and high heeled boots. For the fashion’s function that found in this research are 1) protection function; 2) politeness and concealment function; 3) communication function; 4) individualistic expression; 5) social worth or status; 6) economic worth or status; 7) magical-religious condition; and 8) recreational functions. And for the fashion’s meaning in the Taisho-Showa era, in denotation is refers to the form and design of fashion, while the connotation of fashion is formed by the influence of social and cultural values in Japanese society.

Abstract

Penelitian ini berjudul “Alih Wahana Manga Ao Haru Ride Karya Sakisaka Io ke dalam Film Live Action Karya Sutradara Miki Takahiro”. Penelitian ini memberi pemahaman lebih mendalam mengenai film live action yang dibuat dengan sumber berupa manga. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menyediakan wawasan mengenai perubahan sastra populer Jepang menjadi film live action. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif analisis dan metode informal. Teori yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Teori Struktural yang dikemukakan oleh Robert Stanton (2007) dan Teori Alih Wahana oleh Damono (2012). Pada penelitian ini ditemukan beberapa perubahan pada unsur intrinsik dari manga ke dalam film live action sebagai hasil. Perubahan tersebut diantaranya 1) penciutan dari manga ke dalam film terjadi pada alur, tokoh / karakter, latar (tempat, waktu dan sosial), tema, dan sudut pandang dan disebabkan oleh durasi, biaya produksi, dan perubahan fokus sutradara; 2) penambahan pada film terjadi pada alur, tokoh / karakter, dan latar (tempat, waktu dan sosial) yang terjadi demi memperkuat nuansa dan kesan tertentu dan membuat alur nampak alami; 3) perubahan bervariasi yang terjadi pada alur, tokoh / karakter, dan latar (tempat, waktu dan sosial) yang terjadi akibat perubahan suasana dan fungsi peristiwa dalam film.

Abstract

This research titled is “Code Switching of Meitantei Katherine Movie”. This research aims to give information about types and causes of Code Switching in Meitantei Katherine movie. The data consists of two different languages, Japanese and English. The method of this reaserch is “padan intralingual” method and informal technique. The theories used are code witching by Romaine (1995), code switching by Wardhaugh (2006), cause code switching by Hoffman (1991) and semiotics by Danesi (2011). Based on the analysis, there are 21 code switching data consisting of one Tag Code Switching, five Intrasentential Code Switching, four Intersentential Code Switching, three Metaphorical Code Switching, and four Situational Code Switching.The Causes of code switching found on analysis are 1) talking about a particular topic; 2) being emphatic about something; 3) interjection; 4) repetition used for clarification; and 5) intention of clarifying the speech content for interlocutor.

Abstract

This study entitled Tindak tutur asertif dalam drama 5 ji kara 9 ji made karya Shin Hirano. In addition, this study is to find out the perlocutionary effect that was inflicted by the speaker towards the interlocutors through the assertive illocutionary act. Furthermore, this study applied a theory concerning speech act proposed by Searle (1985). In terms of analyzing data, the method and technique of identity method (metode padan) with a pragmatic approach was applied in this jurnal. The result, that there were 19 data which were assertive utterances. The data in the form consists of 4 assertive speech data that serves to suggest, 4 assertive speech data with complaining function, 5 assertive speech data with notification function, 3 data with proud function, and 3 data with reporting function. The form of the perlocutionary effect found in interpersonal conversations is convincing, persuading, inciting, apologizing, expressing thanks, making anger, rejecting requests, mocking, and distrust.
