Abstract

This research entitled “Linkage Meaning Symbol of Cover Single from Lyric Fadeless on the GazettE Band”. The data was analyzed by the literature method and descriptive analysis. This study used the semantic theory by Abdul Chaer (2009), semiotic theory by Marcel Danesi (2012), and the triangular semiotic theory by Odgen & Richard (2009). The aims of this study are to know the meaning and relationship of symbol in the cover single and the lyric of Fadeless by the GazettE band. Based on the data analysis, there were eight symbols meaning that appeared in the cover single of Fadeless and the meaning in the song lyric Fadeless, including ten datas connotative meaning, one data of the term meaning, eight datas conceptual meaning, four datas of metaphor meaning. Meanwhile, there were eight parts which had relationship between the cover single and the song lyric of Fadeless.

Abstract

The title of this study is “The Influence of Parenting Mother Against The Personality Development of Character Hikaru Narumi and Hiro Narumi in Manga entitled Piece by Ashihara Hinako”. The aims of this study to analyze and explain the influence of parenting mother against the personality development of character Hikaru Narumi and Hiro Narumi in manga entitled Piece by Ashihara Hinako. The theories that are used for analyzing are literary psychology by Roekhan (2008), parenting parents style by Hurlock (2011), personality development by Erickson (2011), and semiotics by Danesi (2010). The results of this study showed that Risako Narumi used two parenting style to Hikaru Narumi and Hiro Narumi pervaded authoritarian parenting and permissive parenting. From authoritarian parenting that used by Risako resulted her sons have personally closed (introvert), selfish and indifferent. While permissive parenting that used by Risako resulted her sons be unable to determine a good or bad choice and not consistent.

Abstract

This research entitled “Implicature meaning which happened because of violates the maxims of conversation in the cooperative principle in Kimi Ni Todoke’s Manga by Shiina Karuho”.The theories used for analyzing are the cooperative principle theory by Grice and speech acts (illocutionary acts) theory by Searle. This research aims to find out the type of maxim of conversation which got violated in Kimi Ni Todoke by Shiina Karuho and also the implied meaning of it. Based on the analysis that has been done, there are 21 dialogues which violates maxim of conversation, there are 6 dialogues for maxim of quantity, 5 dialogues for maxim of quality, 6 dialogues for maxim of relation, 4 dialogues for maxim of manner and 4 dialogues for violates two maxims at the same time. There are also five types meaning of the implicatures based on illocutionary acts, such as assertives, directives, expressives, commisives and declarations.

Abstract

This research dealt with “Presupposition in Nijushi no Hitomi by Sakae Tsuboi”. The aims of this research are to know the types of presupposition and the types of ilocutionary act that contain presupposition. This research uses the presupposition theory proposed by Yule (1996) and ilocutionary act theory proposed by Searle (1969). The results of this research showed that there were has six types of presupposition such as the existential, factive, lexical, structural, nonfactive, and counter factual presupposition. Meanwhile, the types of ilocutionary act that contain presupposition in Nijushi no Hitomi were assertives boasting, complaining, rejecting; directives commanding, inviting; expressives thanking, expressing sympathy, criticizing and declarations resigning.

Abstract

This study is a corpus-based analysis that aims to investigate the productivity of the -te and -shu suffixes as agent-forming suffixes in Japanese as well as the structure of noun formation by adding these two suffixes. The theories used in this research are the theory of productivity by Baayen (1992) and the theory of Japanese morphology by Tsujimura (2013). Based on the results of the analysis on the Japanese News 2020 100K corpus, it was found that the suffix -te is more productive as a form of agent nominals. The suffix -te when attached to an infinitive verb denotes a person who conducts a certain action while the suffix -shu when attached to a Sino-Japanese verbal noun, noun, or bound morphemes denotes one’s profession.

Abstract

The title of this research is “Pedophilia in Comic Toriko Aigan Shoujo by Mashin Osakabe”. The aims of this research are to describe the characteristic of pedophilia sexual disorders suffered by Shiren, as well as the impact that occurred on Shinju as a victim of pedophilia in Mashin Osakabe’s Toriko Aigan Shoujo comic. The theories that have been used are Endaswara’s Psychological Psychology (2010), Schmidth’s Pedophilia theory (2014) and Danesi’s Semiotic theory (2011). Based on the results, Takamagahara Shiren is an adult male who experiences one type of sexual disorder, namely pedophilia. Characteristics of pedophile sexual disorders in Shiren's character based on three dimensions, namely 1). Physiological dimensions are: heterosexual pedophiles and adult men who like a little girl; 2). The psychological dimension is: having a cruel and stubborn character, which can be seen from his behavior, uses various ways to be able to have sex with Shinju. In addition, Shiren's character is also ambitious take revenge on his mother by hurting Shinju; 3). The dimensions of sociology is: Shiren who closes himself to sociaty and dislikes social interaction. The impact experienced by Shinju as a pedophile victims occurred in the physical and psychological. The impact on the physical character of Shinju is the presence of injuries to the body. The impact of pedophilia on the psychology of Shinju are sexual addiction or hypersex, feeling self worthless, feeling ashamed and guilty that she often tries to commit suicide.

Abstract

The title of this research is “The Feminist Literary Criticism in Kaich? wa Meido-Sama! by Hiro Fujiwara”. This research focuses on two problems: how the feminism is shown in Kaich? wa Meido-Sama! by Hiro Fujiwara and how is the main character’s feminism ideology influence another character in the comic. Methods used in this research is descriptive analysis method and the informal method. The theories used are feminism theory by Lorber (1997) and semiotics by Danesi (2011). The analysis result shows that feminisms ideology that revealed in the comics is liberal feminism, such as women also can be physically strong, rational and using men’s language; women as a leader; women were not inferior; and social discrimination against women. Liberal feminism ideology of the main character has positive and negative influences to another character in the comic. The positive influences show on some attitudes from characters such as Shotaro Kano and Tora Igarashi towards women and also female and male students relation. The negative influence shows in the dependence female students on the female character, Misaki Ayuzawa.

Abstract

The title of this research is “The Significance of Hanabi in Japanese Songs”. This research aims to analyze the depictions and the significance of hanabi in four Japanese Songs; Utakata Hanabi by Ryo, Hanabi by Her0ism, Boku no Uchiage Hanabi by Yasushi Akimoto, and Hanabi by Kanichi Shimofusa. The theories that are used for analyzing are literary anthropology by Endraswara (2008) and semiotics by Riffaterre (1978). The results of this research showed that in the four songs, hanabi was depicted as part of Japanese cultures and become an annual tradition that continues celebrated every summer. Also, it was found that the significance of hanabi in each song is different.

Abstract

This research, entitled “Seiichi Kirishima’s Psychopath Behaviors in HIDEOUT Comic by Masasumi Kakizaki”, analyzed Seiichi Kirishima’s characters and factors that cause Seiichi Kirishima become a pshychopath in a comic entitled HIDEOUT. This research used literature psychology theory by Wellek and Warren, pshycho analysis theory by Sigmund Freud, pshychopaty theory by Hare, pshychopath classify theory by Chekley, and semiotic theory by Marcel Danesi. The result of this research is Seiichi Kirishima included to the primary pshychopath category. Seiichi Kirishima’s psychopath behaviors are anti social, egocentric, lacks of affraid, cruel, often lying, and has serious problem from his past. There are internal and external factors of his psychopath behaviors. The internal factor is unbalances in Seiichi Kirishima’s personal structure and the external factors for the example there are unsuccesfully in his job and his son was dead.

Abstract

The objective of this research is to investigate the translation strategies used to render the metaphors into Indonesian and to identify the types of shifts found in the translation of novel “Kaze No Uta Wo Kike”. Data were collected through library research by note taking of the metaphors found in the data source.The theory by Larson (1998) was applied to analyze the meaning of metaphor. By following Catford theory (1965) about translation shifts, the types of shift were identified and analyzed. The result reveals the followings. First, all types of strategies occurred in this translation, they were translated into metaphors by keeping the metaphorical image, translated into simile, translated into non figurative meaning with or without keeping metaphorical imagery, translated into metaphor of receptor language, and translated by add the meaning explained. Second, there are three types of translation shift occurred in this translation, namely level shift, structure shift and unit shift.
