Abstract

ABSTRACT Critical thinking is an important competency to be developed during the nursing education process. Critical thinking is needed by nurses to make clinical decisions related to problems experienced by patients. However, several studies mention the tendency and critical thinking ability of nursing students is still low. One effort to overcome this is by applying learning methods that enable students to learn actively such as the 5E cycle learning method with CBL. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the integration of learning cycle 5E with CBL on students' thinking tendencies. The research design used was a Quasy experiment with a pre test post test with control group approach. The research sample was 21 students 5th semester of Nursing Unipdu Jombang as a treatment group and 19 students of Nursing study at the Health Development Program Mojokerto PPNI as a control group. Data analysis techniques used were paired t-test and Independent t-test. The results showed there were significant differences in the tendency of critical thinking both in the treatment group and the control group before and after the intervention was given with a value of p = 0.001 for the treatment group and p = 0.004 for the control group. There is a significant influence on the integration of the 5E cycle learning model with CBL on the tendency of critical thinking with a value of p = 0.043 (??0.05). Integration of the 5E cycle Learning model with CBL can increase the critical thinking tendency because it can activate the use of higher order thinking skills such as the ability to analyze, synthesize and draw conclusions. Thus the integration of the 5E and CBL cycle learning models can be used as an alternative learning method to increase students' critical thinking tendencies. Keywords : 5E Cycle Learning Model, Case Based Learning (CBL), Critical Thinking Trends

Abstract

Objective Structured Clinical Exam (OSCE) is a method used to evaluate the learning outcomes of clinical skills of the students which are objective and comprehensive. The aim of the OSCE is to introduce the clinical situations and conditions on the actual field to the students. One of the methods to increase the students? passing rate is the Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) learning system. PAL is a learning method, which uses peers who are appointed as tutors to help tutee (group friends, peers) in a small group. This study aims to describe the use of PAL in Skills Laboratorium and OSCE. The results of the literature review show that most anxiety can be reduced by using the PAL method, as compared to other learning methods, so that it directly affects the value, increases the level of confidence, and makes it easier for students to learn.  This method is expected to be applied in laboratorium skill learning for OSCE preparation, because of its very positive influence. Keyword:Peer Assisted Learning, OSCE, Skills Lab

Abstract

ABSTRACTIncreasing learning outcomes in higher education programs, especially professional education nurses according to the KKNI level need to pay attention to the appropriate learning methods for their students. Some of the components needed in achieving the KKN level are knowledge and cooperation. The learning method that uses the Student Center Learning principle is Team Based Learning (TBL). The research method used is Literature Review. Data collection is done by writing keywords using Google Schoolar, Pubmed, and Proquest. With the keywords entered there were 2,653 articles which were then selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria so that 32 articles were obtained for review. From the results of the journal review, it was found that the TBL method had an effect on knowledge, critical thinking, and teamwork. The use of the TBL method is considered to be able to train students' independent abilities in learning, activeness in complex discussion and problem solving.Keyword : Team Based Learning, knowledge, critical thinking, teamwork

Abstract

Chronic kidney failure is a multidimensional health problem in various countries with increasing prevalence in every years. Hemodialysis is a recovery therapy that functions in the blood. Hemodialysis must be carried out throughout life until receive a new kidney transplant. As many as 70% -90% of patients with chronic kidney failure complain of fatigue in hemodialysis. Complaints of fatigue in patients with kidney failure in hemodialysis cannot be ignored. Excessive fatigue in patients can cause prolonged complications and affect quality of life. This research method uses a literature review technique. Data collection through research on the internet using Google Scholar, PubMed, and Proquest with key words intradialytic exercise, fatigue, and hemodialysis. The results with the keywords entered were 2,449 research journals. Then do the screening process and get 10 journals are in accordance with the criteria of discussion. From the results of a review, intradialytic exercises has an impact to the level of fatigue. In addition, intradialytic exercise also provides an increase physical improvement, increased blood pressure and serum electrolytes, improved quality of life and improved sleep quality. In applying intrdialytic exercises, it is proven effective and simple to do in dealing with complaints of patients who need hemodialysis and do not require additional costs. Some types of intradialitic exercises that can be used are Qigong Training, Deep Breathing Exercises, Leg Ergometry Exercises, Intradialitic Acute Therapy Exercises (I-ACETD), Strengthening Exercises, Regular Flexibility, Range of Motion Exercises. Keywords: intradialytic exercise, fatigue, hemodialyis

Abstract

ABSTRACTBackground: Treatment in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) will not change the natural course of kidney disease and will not restore all kidney function, resulting in problems and complications in physical and psychosocial conditions. Roy in his adaptation theory said that the problem in CKD patients was a reduction in adaptation to the effector of the self concept. If this problem is not addressed, it will cause new problems such as the low quality of life for CKD patients. Objective: Reviewing the journal on adaptation of self concept effector in CKD patients. Method: This study is a review literature study that focuses on the results of writing related to the self concept through searching accredited journal sites such as ProQoest, Ebsco, Scientdirect, Google Scholar, Clinical Key, Cochrane Library with keywords chronic kidney disease or chronic renal failure , adaptation, self concept and body image in the period 2013-2018 Results: Obtained 671 journals were identified based on keyword, then filtered based on inclusion criteria so that the total number of articles eligible for review was 8 journals. From the journal, reporting that 5 journals revealed about the physical self aspects which consisted of body image and body sensation. Conclusion: changes in self-concept adaptation to the physical self in patients with CKD that describe adaptation in the face of chronic disease.
