Abstract

Introduction: The COVID-19 has caused an increase in workload that affects the physical and psychological health of nurses. Moreover, the ongoing increase of workload can trigger work fatigue and declining work motivation. The purpose of this research is to identify factors which influence burnout and turnover intention of nurses working in a academic hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: This research is non-experimental explanation survey research with cross sectional approach which involved 186 respondents who are chosen using convenience sampling. The independent variables are demographic factors while the dependent variables are burnout and turnover intention. Instrument used is a questionnaire related burnout and turnover intention which is based on a reference of earlier research. Data analysis used is multiple regression and logistic with p value ≤ 0,05.                Result: Indicators influencing burnout were age (Coeff: -0.017; p=0.017), family dependents (Coeff: -0.799; p=0.011), and workshop on COVID-19 management (Coeff: 0.869; p=0.017). Indicators influencing turnover intention were family dependents (Coeff: -0,647; p=0.014), marital status (Coeff: 1.589; p=0.000), adjustment and arrangement of work schedule for COVID-19 service (Coeff: 0,901; p=0.033), and workshop on COVID-19 management (Coeff: 0,901; p=0.020). Conclusion: The research shows that turnover intention on nurses working in a academic hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic is mostly on moderate level, as well as with burnout. Health institutions must focus on applying strategies to reduce a nurse workload which include infection prevention action, personal protective equipment (PPE), regular workshops on current COVID-19 management, incentive allotment punctuality and flexible work schedule arrangement.

Abstract

Introduction: COVID-19 prevention is currently a major concern for WHO, especially administering the COVID-19 vaccine. However, there are still several problems underlying the achievements of the vaccine administration program in Indonesia, especially the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine to children aged 6-11 years. This study aimed to the relationship between parental knowledge and anxiety levels in implementing the COVID-19 vaccination program for children aged 6-11 years in Lamongan, Indonesia. Method: This study used a cross-sectional design involving a total of 195 respondents. The research was conducted in Lamongan by measuring the level of knowledge and anxiety level of parents in administering the COVID-19 vaccine. The researcher used an instrument of a knowledge level questionnaire and the Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale (HARS) which had been tested for validity and reliability, Data were analyzed using pearson correlation test with SPSS. Results: The results showed that 42.6% had sufficient knowledge and only a small proportion of 24.6% had good knowledge. The level of anxiety shows that 49.7% is in the level of severe anxiety and 4.6% is in the level of mild anxiety. Parents with low levels of knowledge also have an impact on severe levels of anxiety. The results of the Pearson correlation test analysis show of sig 2-tailed = 0.002, which means that between the variable parental knowledge and the variable level of anxiety has a significant relationship with the value of the correlation coefficient = 0.223. Conclusions: There is a relationship between the level of knowledge and the anxiety level of parents in administering the COVID-19 vaccine to children aged 6-11 years. Health education related about the benefits and impacts of giving the COVID-19 vaccine needs to be conveyed clearly to the public.

Abstract

Introduction: Natural disasters present numerous challenges for survivors. One significant outcome is trauma, which can lead to the development of post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). This study aimed to assess the prevalence of PTSD and identify its predictor factors among survivors of a landslide disaster in the Donorati Village community, Purworejo, Indonesia. Method: This study used a descriptive cross-sectional design with a quantitative approach, focusing on landslide survivors in the Purworejo district. A sample of 100 individuals from Donorati village was selected through cluster and consecutive sampling. Key variables included PTSD, gender, age, education, socio-economic status, marital status, disaster severity, prior exposure, impact of the landslide (house damage, injuries, and fatalities), and evacuation records. Data were collected using a demographic form and The Impact of Event Scale-Revised (IES-R). Bivariate analysis utilized Chi-squared and Fisher’s tests, while multivariate analysis used logistic regression. Results: The prevalence of PTSD among participants was 27%. Bivariate analysis showed significant differences in PTSD levels related to sex (p = 0.02), age (p = 0.009), occupation (p = 0.02), disaster severity (p = 0.008), injured family members (p = 0.018), and evacuation history (p = 0.001). Multivariate analysis highlighted gender and disaster severity as key factors linked to PTSD after the landslide. Conclusions: PTSD levels varied significantly by gender, age, occupation, disaster severity, presence of injured family members, and evacuation history. This finding highlights the urgent need for mental health and psychosocial support services to help disaster survivors cope effectively.
