Abstract

As the population of elderly increases, the number of andropause also increases. Andropause is characterized by the decrease of testosteron level which is accompanied by hypogonadism symptoms. Many studies mentioned that decreased testosterone level will contribute to inflammation state, one of the cytokine is TNF-α, which then lead to many chronic inflammation disorders and influence the quality of life. Understanding the significant correlation between androgen and inflammation allows accurate consideration making in using androgen replacement therapy, therefore the quality of life will be improved significantly. This research was an analytical cross-sectional study. Subjects were recruited through random sampling at Denpasar in 2019. TNF-α serum level was measured by human immunoassay method. Andropause was measured by ADAM questionnaire and confirmed by total decreased testosterone serum level. Quality of life was measured by WHOQOL-BREF questionnaire which was then continued by bivariate and multivariate analysis to control the confounding variables. It was considered statistically significant if P value is more than 0.05. There were 60 elderly involved as research subjects consisting of 43 andropause cases and 17 non andropause cases. There was significant correlation between TNF-α serum and quality of life. This study also found that there was significant difference in quality of life between andropause and non andropause group. This study shows that there was significant correlation between TNF-α serum level and andropause with quality of life in elderly.

Abstract

Breast milk is a staple food for babies. The World Health Organization (WHO) and the Indonesian Pediatric Association (IDAI) recommend that exclusive breastfeeding for 6 months be continued for up to 2 years. Daycare is one of the facilities provided to help mothers in providing breastfeeding while being at work. This study was undertaken to document the knowledge, attitude, and behavior among baby caregivers and identify the related factors influencing the behavior of baby caregivers in breast milk management. A cross sectional study was conducted to collect self-administered questionnaires from 60 baby caregivers in 2018. The validity test using the product moment obtained a value of 0.886 while the r table was 0.444, so this questionnaire was declared valid. Reliability test using Cronbach's alpha obtained a value of 0.660. Bivariate analysis test was performed using the Spearman’s rank correlation statistical test. Multiple regression models were used to analyze the association between knowledge, attitude, and breast milk management behaviors of baby caregivers. 42 of the respondents (70%) had a good level of knowledge on breast milk management, while 49 (81.66%) were good in terms of attitude, and 34 (56.77%) had satisfactory breast milk management behavior. Correlation of caregivers’ breast milk management knowledge, attitude, and behavior is statistically significant shown by the F-test result of 0,014 < 0,05. From the test results, it is found that there is an influence between knowledge and caregivers’ breast milk management behavior (p 0,000<0,05), and between knowledge and caregivers’ breast milk management attitude (p 0,001<0,05), but not between attitude and caregivers breast milk management behavior (p 0,395>0,05). The determining factors of baby caregivers’ breast milk management behavior was knowledge. Knowledge and attitude did not affect caregivers’ behavior in conducting breast milk management equally. Adequate knowledge is the major factor of baby caregivers from favorable breast milk management attitude and behavior.

Abstract

Animal-assisted therapy (AAT) is one of the non-pharmacological and complementary interventions. AAT has been practiced for many years and now a lot of progress are being made. However, the effect of AAT on social interaction is not well understood. The purpose of this meta-analysis was to present the best available evidence regarding the effects of AAT on social interaction including blood pressure, cognitive function, and communication. Researchers searched seven electronic databases for relevant articles published between 1984 and 2014. Data were collected using inclusion and exclusion criteria. The Joanna Briggs Institute Meta-Analysis of Statistics Assessment and Review Instrument was used to evaluate the quality of the identified articles.Six RCTs and three pseudorandomized controlled trial published within 1995-2011 with 281 participants had extractable data. The result of the meta-analysis indicated that AAT had an effect on increasing communication. The results were not statistically for blood pressure and cognitive function. There are a number of promising indications, in view of the limited number and quality of studies and the variation in results among studies. This review highlights the need for additional well-designed trials to draw conclusions that are more robust.

The population was senior high school students in Senior High School Al Islam 1 Surakarta. Samples were selected with purposive sampling technique that met the inclusion criteria. Subjects were 60 respondents consisting of 30 in each group obtained by a simple random sampling technique. The measurement of anxiety in the adolescents was by using Taylor Manifest Anxiety Scale. An independent t-test performed the analysis. The result of the research showed that anxiety score decreased significantly in those two groups. In contrast, the treatment group’s decrease in anxiety indicates a higher decrease than the control group. Anxiety First Aid (AFA) is recommended to decrease anxiety in adolescent especially in senior high school students.

Cinematherapy-based reminiscence group therapy is a strategic intervention in increasing self-esteem. The purpose of this research was to identify the effects of cinematherapy-based reminiscence group therapy for self-esteem in older adults. The design of this research was quasi-experimental design including pre-posttest with the control group. Samples were selected with a total sampling technique that met the inclusion criteria. Subjects were 70 respondents consisting of 35 each group, obtained by a simple random sampling technique. The nursing intervention was provided to the control group, while cinematherapy-based reminiscence group therapy was provided to the treatment group. This research used reminiscence therapy workbook. The measurement of self-esteem in older adults was done by using Rosenberg’s Self-Esteem. A paired t-test and independent t-test performed the analysis. The result of the research showed that self-esteem levels increased significantly in both control and treatment groups. In contrast, the treatment group’s increase in self-esteem indicated a higher number than the control group. A combined cinematherapy-based reminiscence group therapy helps use a movie to bring positive feelings and reminisce memorable past stories. In addition, as a group program, cinematherapy-based reminiscence group therapy improves communications and builds a sense of belonging to the community. Cinematherapy-based reminiscence group therapy is recommended to increase self-esteem in older adults at nursing home.

The provision of Spiritual Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) to cancer patients is done to help overcome the problem of physical and psychic pain. This therapy combines body energy and spiritual therapy using three stages consisting of the setup, the tune in, and the tapping. A mild tapping or tapping method is given at 18 points on the body. This study aimed to find out the extent of the effect of SEFT on the pain of cancer patients. This research was a descriptive through a case study approach. The number of participants was 4 participants. The sampling was done purposively. The inclusion criteria of this study are cancer patients who complained moderate to severe pain. The pain level was measured using the Numeric Rating Scale (NRS). The data were collected using literature studies, in-depth interviews, and observations. Data analysis was done by using an interactive model that classifies the process into data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing (Verification). The application of case studies using SEFT theory has a meaningful influence to reduce pain.
