Abstract

The implementation of family planning can reduce the burden of development for the realization of the happiness and welfare of the people of Indonesia. The choice of an appropriate contraceptive method and following the conditions and needs can prevent a significant population growth rate. This study aims to analyze trends in the use of contraceptives and planning for contraceptive use among women of childbearing age in the province of West Sulawesi. The design used in this study was a cross-sectional survey using secondary data sources from the 2017 IDHS West Sulawesi province. The study population was all merried women in Indonesia with a sample size of 1682 peoples. The results showed that age group, education level, residence, and socioeconomic status influence the propensity for use and planning for the use of contraceptives. Whereas literacy only affects the planning of contraceptive use. A special approach is needed for women and their husbands to convince them of the benefits of using contraceptive devices to prosper their lives.

Abstract

Tuberculosis is still a global health problem, especially in developing countries including Indonesia. The incidence of tuberculosis in Indonesia is 391 per 100,000 population and the death rate is 42 per 100,000 population. The purpose of this study was to determine factors related to the performance of officers in the discovery of pulmonary TB cases in Way Kanan District. This is a quantitative research with cross sectional design. Respondents in this study were doctors of puskesmas, laboratory officers, village midwives and posyandu cadres as many as 355 people. From the population, simple random sampling was used and the samples were taken by using lottery technique which involved 180 people for the sample. The questionnaires which were given to the respondents were used to measure knowledge, attitude, motivation, leadership, reward, and work design. For the result, univariate data analysis, bivariate using the Chi-Square Test and multivariate using a multiple logistic regression test were employed. The results of the study with statistical tests show there is a relationship of knowledge with performance (p = 0,000), there is a relationship between attitude and performance (p = 0,000), there is a relationship of motivation with performance (p = 0,000), there is a relationship of leadership with performance (p = 0.005), there is a reward relationship with performance (p = 0,000), there is a relationship between job design and performance (p = 0,000) and the most dominant variable is motivation (OR = 7,490). In conclusion there is a relationship between knowledge, attitude, leadership, motivation, reward and job design with performance.

Abstract

Recreation is a way to get consolation for the elderly. The aim of this study is to analyze recreational activities and travel choices of the elderly who live in Denpasar city, Bali, Indonesia. The study used a descriptive method. The sample consisted of 100 elderly selected by convenience sampling technique. The data was collected by questionare and analyzed using frequency distribution. The results show that even though Bali is a tourist destination and there is an easy access for the elderly who live in the cities, it does not guarantee they come to every tourist spot, seen from most of the elderly (64%) had never done any recreational activities after entering old age. The main obstacle that prevented the elderly from doing recreational activities was taking care of grandchildren (46%). Characteristics of destination locations for elderly travel choices especially have a calm environment (26.9%). The favorite recreation destination is places of worship (63.9%). After recreation, they felt happy and refreshed (88.8%). Recreation can be a fun entertainment for the elderly in their daily routines activities to reduce boredom, but in recreation they should be accompanied by family and pay attention to the characteristics of their favorite tourist spot.

Abstract

Depression is a mood disorder that becomes commonly happen in modern societies. The incidence of depression will increase in elderly with prevalence of 7.5% in women and 5.5% in men with an age range of 55-74 years old. One of the way to reduce depression in the elderly is by increasing their spirituality such as worship. The aim of the study was to determine the relationship between spirituality and depression in the elderly in Elderly Social Service Center (Pusat Pelayanan Sosial Lanjut Usia/ PPSLU) of Mappakasunggu Parepare in 2019. The type of this research was analytic descriptive using cross-sectional approach. This research was conducted at the Elderly Social Service Center (PPSLU) of Mappakasunggu Parepare in July 2019. The population in this study was 51 elderly who were depressed and were at the Elderly Social Service Center (PPSLU) of Mappakasunggu Parepare. The sampling technique used was total sampling. Data collection tool used was questionnaires with guided interviews to respondents. The data analysis was carried out using univariate and bivariate analysis. The results showed that among 7 respondents (13.7%) who had low spirituality, 6 (11.8%) of them had severe depression, among 24 respondents (47.1%) who had moderate spirituality 23 (45.1%) of them had moderate depression, and among 20 respondents (39.2%) who had high spirituality, 22 (43.1%) of them had mild depression. Menwhile, bivariate analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between spirituality and depression with a p-value = 0.000 (p <0.05). Based on this study, it can be concluded that the spirituality variable has a relationship with depression in the elderly. This research expected that the staff is able to provide and improve spirituality support so that the elderly can avoid depression.

Abstract

Prediabetes is a state of increasing a person's blood glucose level before become the Diabetes Mellitus or DM category. Untreated prediabetes, within 3-5 years can change to type 2 DM. Prediabetes blood glucose levels in the fasting state are 100-125 mg/ dL. The aim of this study was to determine the effectiveness of yogurt on 2 hours after meals blood glucose levels. The method used is quasi experiment pre and post test with control group. The total sample size is 30. The sampling technique is purposive sample. Data were collected by means of a questionnaire for the characteristics of respondents (sex, ages, Body Mass Index (IMT) and checking glucose levels. The data analysis using univariate analysis and independent t-test for bivariate analysis. The results of data analysis with independent-t showed a significant difference where respondents who were given yogurt experienced a decrease in 2 hours after meals/ PP blood glucose levels (p= 0,000). Blood glucose levels 2 hours after meals in respondents who were given yogurt in this study decrease/ lower (16%) than blood glucose levels 2 hours after meals on respondents who were not given yogurt.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic is currently underway, so the policy of keeping a distance and staying at home must be implemented. Information about the pandemic is increasing every day, raising concerns that can affect mental health. Eating disorders as a mental disorder related to eating behaviors has also been affected by this pandemic. This article was written with the aim of knowing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on eating disorders condition. The method used is literature review using articles (available in NCBI and google scholar) and a book published by American Psychiatric Association in 2013. The keywords used in searching for articles are COVID-19, eating disorder, mental health, and pandemic so that 25 articles obtained and 21 articles (from 2018-2020) used in this literature review, and then an analysis is carried out using the systematic literature review method. Several studies have shown the negative impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health. In research related to eating disorders, it was found that the COVID-19 pandemic can affect both individuals with eating disorders and the general population, and also affect the care for patients with eating disorders. The analysis of several articles shows that the COVID-19 pandemic can exacerbate the state of eating disorders and can increase the risk of developing eating disorders. The COVID-19 pandemic has also led to changes in care provided to patients with eating disorders where safety procedures must be implemented and telehealth becomes an alternative approach.

Abstract

Domestic violence is Violence during pregnancy as violence or threat of physical, sexual or psychological (emotional) violence against pregnant women. The present study aims to:- Assess different forms of violence that women are exposed to by their partners during pregnancy Explore consequences of domestic violence on pregnant women out come. A descriptive exploratory research design was adopted in this study to achieve the stated aim. Postpartum units were selected from at El-manial maternity hospital, this hospital is a university-affiliated hospital which providing free health care service topostpartum women and their newborn. Structured interviewing questionnaire, domestic violence assessment tool, and maternal pregnancy outcome tool. Indicated that age of woman ranged from 15-45 years with mean 31.65 +/- 6.79. 42% of sample living in urban areas, while 58% living in rural areas. Percentage of domestic violence according to total domestic violence scale 82% suffer from different type of domestic violence, regarding the maternal outcome20% of cases have bleeding during delivery , 24% exposed to premature rapture of membrane, and 30% exposed to menstrual problems. Women are exposed to different forms of domestic violence during pregnancy. These forms of violence have an impact on the pregnancy outcomes such as abortions, bleeding during delivery, premature rapture of membrane, and menstrual problems others.

Abstract

Hand hygiene must be considered because 98% of the spread of germs comes from hands. One easy way to sanitize your hands from spreading germs is through the habit of washing hands properly. Primary School (PS) students aged 6-12 years, where the school is a place for students to gain main experiences. Health services and counseling for primary school age students aim to make every child has the awareness to have a clean and healthy lifestyle. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of health education on hand washing techniques in primary school students. This type of research is pre-experiment with a one group pretest-posttest design. The study population was all students in grade IV and V State Primary School Gombang, Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta, with total sampling technique obtained 42 respondents. Test data analysis using the Wilcoxon test results obtained p-value 0.001, which means that there is an effect of health education on hand washing techniques in students of State Primary School Gombang Mlati Sleman, Yogyakarta. It is hoped that primary students can apply the habit of washing hands properly, namely washing hands in 6 steps with soap and running water in their daily activities.

Abstract

Self-harm behavior is a form of behavior which someone love to hurt themselves to express the feeling or emotion caused by the mental illness which is felt by the subject. The emotion is hard to be spoken because the problems are too complex, complicated, or full of painful memories or uncontrollable situations. The problems made the subject hurt themselves only to the extent of self-injury and not to the point of committing suicide, however this behavior endangers the doer. The purpose of this study is to discover self-harm behavior which is done by 4th year students of STIKes Dharma Husada Bandung class of 2016. This study employs descriptive method to get the representation of self-harm behavior on 4th year students of STIKes Dharma Husada Bandung class of 2016. The data collection technique used in this study is total sampling with 118 respondents, in which the primary data is collected by means of questionnaire. The analysis literature review shows the result from 118 respondents that 49,2% of the respondents do self-harm behavior with 13,6% caused by sadness, and 10,2% caused by stress. The final result of this study could become the material to evaluate the awareness of 4th year students.

Abstract

Hospitals can be a source of transmission of microorganisms to patients during treatment. Infections acquired by patients while being hospitalized are called Healthcare Associated Infections (HAIs), so HAIs are an indicator of the quality of care provided by the hospital. The purpose of this study is to know the effectiveness of training on the knowledge, skills, and behavior of prevention of HAIs in nurses in the hospital. A quasi-experimental research design with a pre-test and post-test design with a control group design on 140 nurses through purposive sampling was used. Data collection used questionnaires (r value 0.412-0.716> r table 0.294; Cronbach Alpha 0.753) and observation sheets. The Wilcoxon test was used to analyze the mean difference between groups because the data were not normally distributed. The mean difference between the control and intervention groups was analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. The results of the study obtained shows the effect of training on knowledge (p value <0.001), skills (p value <0.001), and behavior (p value = 0.041) on HAI prevention in the intervention group. In fact, in the control group, it was found that there was no effect of training on knowledge, skills and behavior of prevention of HAIs (p value> 0.005). There were differences in knowledge, skills, and behavior of HAI prevention between the intervention group and the control group (p value <0.001).
