Abstract

Climate change will affect the thermal comfortableness level in the urban area therefore adaptation is needed to reduce its impact. Thermal comfortableness level was determined base on climate scenario data emission A2 and B2 on the period of 1961-2100. Adaptation simulation is conducted by modifying mean radiant temperature, increasing wind speed and cloth coeffi cient value on the thermal comfortableness level calculation. Result showed that generally, thermal comfortableness level in Padang on the period of 1961-2100 was in the uncomfort level category. Adaptation simulation which had the most infl uence on the thermal comfortableness level was by modify-ing mean radiant temperature and increasing wind speed on the original data.

Abstract

Pneumonia constitutes the greatest disease that causing death among children under-five in the world. Risk of death can be decreased, if the illness were identified early, treated appropriately and prevention efforts. The study aimed to determine the influence of in-house environmental risk factor against the prevalence of pneumonia in children. The study used cross-sectional design with descriptive method which consisted of 2.408 samples of 80.329 households from Riskesdas 2007 data. Data were analyzed by univariate and bivariate of Chi-square to get the level of risk by odds ratio, as well as the significance of correlation between dependent and independent variables of the study. The results showed that significant correlation between the type of floor (OR = 1.209; CI 95%) and fuel type (OR = 1.683; CI 95%) with prevalence of pneumonia children under-five. Conclusion of the study is that the floor type and the fuel have significant correlation with the prevalence of pneumonia, while the crowding and the presence of household members whom smoke could be not described its correlation clearly.

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the economical feasibility of soybean farming with the Integrated Crop Management (ICM) approach. This research was conducted in April–December 2009 and took place in Nimbokrang District, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province. Integrated Crop Management components were the use of high yield seeds (Ijen, Burangrang, Tanggamus, Seulawah), perfect soil tillage, balanced fertilizer and spacing. The research involved two cooperative farmers which apply ICM method and one non-cooperator farmer who apply the farmers system, using Ijen variety that are already common planted by local farmers. The results showed that the variety of Ijen with ICM method obtained the highest yields 2.15 tonn/ha with B/C ratio was 1.47,whereas Burangrang yields was 1.89 tonn/ha with B/C ratio 1.24, Tanggamus yields was 1.68 tonn/ha with B/C ratio 1.04 and Seulawah yield was 1.28 tonn/ha with B/C ratio 0.64. All of the varieties cultivated by the ICM method were feasible except Seulawah. Soybean farming using Ijen, Burangrang and Tanggamus varieties were feasible to develop with MBCR value of Ijen is 2.47, Burangrang 2.24, and Tanggamus 2.04.

Abstract

The median of birth interval in Indonesia is quite high which is 43,7 months. This figure can be classified asan ideal birth interval. However, the percentage point of the number of ideal birth interval only increases slowly(0,06 % annually). The findings of previous studies revealed that women’s status affected birth interval. Thus, thecurrent research aims to identify the influence of women’s status on birth interval in Indonesia context. The dataemployed in this study is taken from the 2007 Indonesia Demographic and Health Survey. The number of sampleused is 32.985 ever married women. The multinomial logistic regression is chosen for analysing the data since thedependent variables (birth interval) are categorical. The results of this study shows that educational level, wealthindex and the involvement of women in decision making related to the health services acquirement influences birthinterval.

Abstract

Currently, IT devices, especially mobile phone and notebook, have become a staple for humans. These devices can’t be separated from human activities. Mobile phone or notebook using those are too often can lead people to conduct any charging process when that device is being used. In general, there are three conditions for any devices when the charging process is being performed, such as: off, standby, and normal use (music on). This research objective is to compare the result on conducted emis- sion testing when mobile phone and notebook at the plugging charge for the conditions: off, stand by, and normal use (music on). Testing method refers to CISPR 22 Standards at Clause Mains Terminal Disturbance Voltage. Testing result for mobile phone and notebook show that all of testing sample perform conducted emission value with quasi peak value meet the requirement of CISPR 22. The amount of 80% testing sample, perform the highest quasipeak margin value when the off condition of devices.

Abstract

Evaluation on seismic hazard map in Sumatra bedrock was needed because the Indonesian seismic hazard map standard (SNI-1726-2002) was built using the 2D seismic source model and a lot of seismic activity around Sumatera occurred after the 8N1-1 7 26-2002 was published. Probabilistic Seismic Hazard (PSHA) software was developed by USGS in 2007 to gain bedrock acceleration value derivedf rom Probabilistic calculation on 3D seismic source using the Next Generation Attenuation (NGA). Therefore this software represented the newest theory to build seismic hazard map and it was used in this research to evaluate and validate the Indonesian standard, particularly Sumatra seismic hazard map. Several phases were done to gain the seismic hazard map, such as collecting and processing earthquake data, calculating seismic risk parameter, acceleration calculation using PSHA software and developing a seismic hazard map using ArcGis Software. Evaluation result indicated that SNI-1726-2002 seismic hazard map in Sumatera bedrock, particularly in region 3,4 and 5 was lower than seismic hazard map developed using PSHA software. The deviation was range between ± 0.05-0.20g.

Abstract

Waste is a national problem in Indonesia. This is related to the old paradigm of waste management which is only collected, transported, and disposed to the landfill. The same problem occured in Dusun Toisapu, Ambon. Since it’s establishment in 2003, Dusun Toisapu landfill used open dumping and it’s caused the increased negative externalities of environmental quality for the people who lives nearby. Ambon district officer has a new integratedwaste management in 2012 but the implementation is not going well because there was no sorting of waste (organic and anorganic) on source of waste. The governments finacial limitation causes the waste management services not running properly. Based on the results of research in Baguala and Nusaniwe, most people are willing to pay higher retribution for better services in Dusun Toisapu landfill with four scenarios. The highest average WTP in Baguala is Rp24.250,00/family/month for biogas scenario and the lowest is Rp20.804,00/family/month for incineration scenario. In Nusaniwe, it is obtained the highest average WTP is  p21.228,00/family/month for composting scenario and the lowest is Rp18.220,00/family/month for sanitary landfill scenario. Value of WTP from people can cover operational costs for implementing four waste management scenarios that offered.

Abstract

In this paper, it is analyzed drag force of a quark in a rotating and strongly coupled Quark Gluon Plasma(QGP) by considering the motion of a string under background metric of rotating Banados-Teitelboim-Zanelli(BTZ) black hole. The non-trivial solution of string motion under rotating BTZ black hole depends on a constantmomentum conjugate which is fixed physically in all space. The drag force is characterized by the black hole’sparameters (curvature, mass and angular momentum) and angular velocity of the string. Moreover, it is also foundan external force term proportional to the angular momentum of the black hole in non-relativistic limit.
