Abstract

Abstract

This paper studied three methods of pan-sharpenning of SPOT-4 image and evaluated the quality of the results. Three pan-sharpenning methods were applied to a scene of SPOT-4 image of K/J:287/364 acquiried on 25 July 2008 by using image processing software. Those three methods were IHS-RGB, Color Normalized (Brovey), and PCA (Principle Component Analysis). For IHS-RGB and Color Normalized (Brovey) methods the formulas written in Kartasasmita were used. These formula are practical to be used in image processing software and canbe understood theoritically. Similarly for PCA (Principle Component Analysis) method on this research the values of the elements of eigenvectors, which are required for doing the transformation and inversion, are calculated before then they are used in a new more practical equation and can be inputted to image processing software. It was expected that three mathematic equations from those three methods can be implemented easily in other image processing softwares and used for other multispectral image sharpenning by panchromatic band. An assessment to test the pan-sharpenning processes quantitatively and qualitatively were conducted. A qualitative assessment had been conducted by visual interpretation of pansharpened image. Quantitative assessments of pan-sharpened image was showed by change of spectral value range of each spectral channel, measureof the slope detail of pansharpened image from several object detail and the spectral information similarity between original and pansharpened images by Q Index and Correlation Coefficient. The results of this study are practical equations for PCA, IHS-RGB and Color Normalized (Brovey) Methods; pan-sharpened of SPOT-4 image; and quality assessment of pan-sharpened of SPOT-4 image.

Abstract

This research attempts to determine if political institutions has significant influences on sources of economic growth in developing countries. The research employs panel data of 65 developing countries by following the methodology of Pinto and Timmons. The results show that more democratic regime decreases investment rates; and increases foreign direct investment to GDP ratio. However, political institutions in developing countries bring insignificant effects to secondary enrollment rate, labor supply and trade to GDP ratio. This research enriches the empirical findings on interaction between political institutions and economic performance especially for the caseof developing countries.

Abstract

Until now, the highest level of women representation in Indonesian parliament is 18%, obtained from theelection in 2009. Political party as the only formal political instrument that is recognized by law has an importantrole to solve the problem. The study, which is based on Anne Phillips and Burnheim’s theory of political representation, found that political parties have a low commitment to involve women in party’s structure and electoralprocess. By using qualitative research methods, the study found that the role of parties in the political process hasnot been used optimally to improve the representation of women in parliament.

Abstract

The Activity of residents in Belida River, are affecting water quality conditions, and the presence of organisms in it. One of the biota that has an important role in these waters is periphyton. The study aims to determine the abundance and diversity of periphyton in Belida river waters around District Muara Enim. A descriptive exploratory study was conducted from February to November 2011. The results recorded 36 genera of periphyton belong to three classes namely Bacillariophyceae, Chlorophyceae and Cyanophyceae. Diversity index (H ‘) ranged from 0.74 to 2.15. It is concluded that the diversity of periphyton in the waters of the River Belidawas low, with Ulotrik species, Nitzschia, and Synedra being the Dominant.

Abstract

Development of e-commerce systems of Society of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Karya Mandiri is one of main activities of the program implementation on utilization of science and technology in Pesarean Village, Adiwerna District, Tegal Regency, which aims to improve the competitiveness of SMEs in order to promote, market and sell products of metal crafts, such as agricultural equipment, construction, household appliances and motor vehicle accessories to internet users without limited space and time through the website. Development of SMEs e- commerce systems uses methods of software development life cycle consisting of analysis and definition for system requirements, system and software design, implementation and unit testing, integration and system testing, also operation and maintenance. In the current research, SMEs e-commerce system was developed based on an open source software that is using the programming language PHP version 5.4.3 and html, My SQL database server versions 5.5.24, and Apache version 2.2.22. Result of the development of e-commerce systems is in form of SMEs e-commerce website Karya Mandiri which can be accessed through the Internet.

Abstract

Phytophthora infestans (Mont.) de Bary causes late blight (LB) disease which can decrease potato (Solanum tuberosum L.) production up to 100%. RB gene as source of resistance to LB could be obtained from genetically modified potato cultivars with resistance genes from wild species Solanum bulbocastanum. Evaluation virulences of P. infestans to potato contain RB gene is an important step to know effectiveness of controlling this disease. The research was focussed on determining virulence status of the isolates to the transgenic and hybrid potato plants containing RB genes. Isolates were collected from Bandung, Cianjur, and Garut, were cultured on V8-agar medium at 18 ± 20C. Virulence test were performed using “detached leaves assay” method. Based on statistic analysis, the average leaf infected by LB in potatoes containing the RB gene was significantly lower than potatoes in control group. Results showed that 40,8% transgenic leaves and 54,5% hybrid leaves which containing RB gene attacked by LB , whereas the control group was infected 98,7%. The virulence level of P. infestans isolates from West Java on potato plants contain RB gene is still low compare to that in the control group.

Abstract

Rice germplasm is a source of genetic traits in the development of high yielding varieties of rice. This study aims to obtain drought tolerant trait of rice germplasm so that it could be used as a donor in the development of drought tolerant rice. The experiment was conducted from April to September 2010 in the Experimental Site of Indonesian Agriculture Environment Research Institute, Jakenan, Pati, Jawa Tengah using Randomized Block Design (RBD) with three replications. The material used is 64 accessions of rice germplasm and 6 varieties of checks. The result showed that the character of maturity age and the number of filled grain per panicle have posi- tive correlation with grain yield per plant. Four accessions namely, Pelempung Jambi, Padi Jarum Emas, Padi Kuning, Cempo Abang Ner and Botel, have been selected tolerant to drought stress and high yielding based on the character of grain yield per plant, maturity age, and the number of filled grain per panicle. Based on rolling and drying leaf on heading phase, the fifth accessions have tolerance to drought stress with score 1–5. Fifth accession can be used as donor on development of drought tolerant rice.
