Abstract

The aims of this analysis are to see the effect of monetary factors such as foreign reserve and money multipliers and fiscal factor such as government expenditure toward money supply in Indonesia. The methods used in this analysis is Vector Autoregressive (VAR) or Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). This analysis uses a secondary data (three-month data) from 1986 until 2003. The result of this analysis, using VECM estimation, is that money supply, foreign reserve, and money multiplier have a short term and long term relationship. According to short term relationship, money supply and money multiplier have a positive correlation, with ceteris paribus assumption. Whereas a long term relationship shows that only foreign reserve and money multiplier have had a positive correlation, with ceteris paribus assumption.

Abstract

Purifi ed three isoform β-1,3-glucanases of 90 kDa β-1,3-glucanase-I, 75 kDa β-1,3-glucanase-II, and 64 kDa β-1,3-glucanase-III derived from Trichoderma reesei isolate T13were tested in vitro for its antifungal activity to the root fungi of Ganoderma philippii. Antifungal activity was tested by bioassay using a modifi ed cup plate method and microscopic observation to determine the presence of abnormal mycelia growth of G. philippii. The result showed that antifungal activity of those three isoform β-1 ,3-glucanase (β-1,3-glucanase-I, β-1,3 glucanase-II, and β-1,3-glucanase-III) in vitro could not form growth inhibition against the mycelia of G. philippii. Microscopic observation revealed that the enzyme caused necrotic lesion, whereas the combination of β-1,3-glucanase and chitinase from T. harzianum (Sigma) caused lyzed hyphae of G. philippii.

Abstract

The marine sponge of Tetilla sp. collected near Gunung Kidul coast was studied for isolation of associated bacterial and its antibacterial activity. Sixteen bacterial strains were isolated from sponge Tetilla sp., four isolates among it showed ability to produce antibacterial metabolite. Cell extract of isolates were tested for antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus using disc diffusion agar method. Cells extract of four selected isolate from late exponential phase and stationary phase broth culture showed antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Thin layer chromatography analysis detected alkaloid and terpenoid in cell extract from stationary phase of isolates culture and none of it was detected in cell extract from late exponential phase of isolates culture.

Abstract

Capability analisis of waters off Kaledupa Island for Grouper Net Cage quaculture. This research was aimed to assess potential areas for sustainable grouper net cage mariculture within marine conservation areas using geographic information system (GIS) as the main tool for determining the suitability of the potential areas. The research took place on the southern part of Kaledupa Island and was conducted for three weeks in August, 2007. Data collection was performed in 31 sampling stations. There were 15 capability parameters measured in each sampling station. Data analysis was conducted using kriging-based interpolation analysis in ArcGIS 9.1 to describe the distribution of each parameter over the study area. The final capability map was the combination of all capability parameters into one single thematic map using Boolean operator. The result showed that there were 4,510.54 ha of capable area in the 8,581.99 ha of the study area. Therefore, it can arguably be concluded that the eastern coastline of Kaledupa Island is capable for supporting grouper net cage mariculutre.

Abstract

The utterance of teachers in Semarang is a representation of a language use of a bilingual society. The use of Indonesian at school is frequently influenced by the use of the teachers mother tongue, which is Javanese. Even though, they realize that the official language is Indonesian, with a certain purpose they mix code into Javanese. This descriptive qualitative study aims to see the form and the purpose of code mixing which is done by teachers in Semarang. Studying the form and the purpose of the code mixing is very important so that teachers will be wise and right in doing code mixing. Based on the study, the components of code mixing in the utterance of teachers in Semarang are covering phrases, idioms, and words of address. The words which are mixed are verbs, adjectives, adverbs, and prepositions. Meanwhile phrases which are mixed are noun phrase and verb phrase. The purpose of code mixing in the utterance of teachers in Semarang can be described as follows: to maintain the conversation, to show the familiarity, to respect the interlocutor, to emphasize something, and to fine or politeness.

Abstract

ndonesian government has implemented new paradigm on the land border area management by combining security and prosperity approaches. This Evaluative research compared Entikong border area condition in West Kalimantan when the combined-approach based policy is implemented, with the condition before. The result showed that this policy is potensial to solve infrastructure weakness, trade dependence on Malaysia, poor education, threat to nationalism, and lack of coordination among institutions. But, this combined approach also proved lack of attention toward socio-culture aspect in local community. This research recommends Indonesian government to ask for active society involvement in decision making process and implementation of the policy on the land border area management. Thus, the objectives of security, prosperity, and socio-culture will be reached together.

Abstract

A pre-design of plant to produce 45.000 tons/year phthalic anhydride from 47,200 tons/year ortho-xylene uses Davy McKee process with vanadium pentaoxide catalyst in non isothermal - non adiabatic fixed bed multitubes reactor that operated at 2 atm and 340-360oC. Phthalic anhydride is intermediate chemical that raw material and product price depend on the global economical condition. From the design basis, the economical parameters analysis show that after tax, Profit on Sales (POS) is 7.78%, Return On Investment (ROI) is 34.76%, Pay Out Time (POT) is 2.23 years, Break Event Point (BEP) is 43.71%, Shut Down Point (SDP) is 28.16% and Discounted CashFlow Rate of Return (DCFRR) is 22.40%. All economical parameters requirements for plant design are complied. The range of optimum commercial plant capacity is 26,221 to 71,210 tons/year. Due to price fluctuation, plant can be run normally on range of increasing raw material price +6.79% and decreasing product price -6.92% from price basis and it is better than South East Asia market condition. It is concluded that the phthalic anhydride plant is feasible to be established in Indonesia.
