Abstract

The popularity of the qualitative approach has recently increased. Especially in the social sciences (including the humanities), where this approach has its own place, although, the most important substance in science, namely the theory itself, is actually qualitative. This is further strengthened by the essence of a qualitative approach (in the social sciences of the humanities) which emphasizes the investigation of a social phenomenon and human problem. This article describes how a qualitative approach is used (particularly) in the science of history, as well as the various characteristics inherent in qualitative research which is so closely related to the science of history. This article was written using descriptive analytical method supported by literature study as the data mining process. From the results of the description, it is known that history as a family of humanities will inevitably (still) use a qualitative approach in its scientific description. This qualitative approach is in the form of a narrative-descriptive-analytical explanation of history, which makes history, apart from being a science, also a story. The task of history is to tell stories through narrative texts, so that a qualitative approach is embedded in the science of history. Keywords: Approach, Qualitative, Historical Science

This research discusses how the indist culture in  women's clothing, namely the kebaya, was later used by Dutch women. Kebaya clothing that was identical to Indonesian women was then worn by Dutch women in the 20th century. Abstract

The Dutch Colonial Government formed a colonial legal system aimed at strengthening power in the Dutch East Indies. Haatzaai Artikelen is one of the products of colonial law used to sanction anyone who criticizes Dutch rule. The study of Haatzaai Artikelen is interesting because colonial legal instruments impose injustice through criminal offense with accusations of utterance or expressions of hostility, hatred, and contempt for Dutch political interests. This Research uses the historical method with this legal approach aims to analyze the implementation of Haatzaai Artikelen and its impact on the struggle against colonialism. The results showed that the Dutch colonial government interpreted Haatzaai Artikelen according to their political interests. Also, the Dutch Colonial Government and its judicial system systematically used the Haatzaai Artikelen as a rubber article to arrest Indonesian activists, silence, and imprison them. The implementation and demands of the Haatzaai Artikelen offense have implications for the rise of resistance against Dutch colonialism and exploitation, and on the other hand, have weakened the struggles of several figures so that the application of this punishment affects the dynamics of the Indonesian national movement. Keywords: Haatzaai Artikelen, Colonialism, Netherlands Indies’ Laws, History of Law, Hate Speech.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to describe and analyze the historiography writing style of pesantren in Indonesia. The pesantren has historically been a “genuine” model of the Islamic education system in the archipelago. At the beginning of its establishment and development, pesantren is a form of education and learning of Islamic religion (recitation assemblies) which is managed by a kiai. At this stage, the pesantren has the main elements, namely: kiai, mosques, and santri. We know this type from the name of pesantren salafiyah. Then it develops according to the times and knowledge in terms of management and learning systems as well as the knowledge being taught to develop by incorporating general knowledge, which became known as "khalaf" pesantren. Then there is another one, namely a combination of the two, between salafiyah and khalaf. The themes of writing the history of pesantren in Indonesia are various. First, the theme of the pesantren development. Second, the study of figures or biographies of the kiai. Third, the dynamics of pesantren with the social conditions of the community. Fourth, the pesantren education system. The writing of pesantren historiography in Indonesia is the story of pesantren, so all writings can be categorized into three forms: traditional, colonial and modern historiography.  Keywords: historiography, pesantren, methodology.
