Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of product quality and service quality on customer loyalty, with customer satisfaction as an intervening variable among Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Tambaksari District, Surabaya. This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method through questionnaires distributed to MSME customers. The data were analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS). The measurement model was evaluated through outer loading, Average Variance Extracted (AVE), discriminant validity, and reliability tests, while the structural model was assessed using R-square, f-square, Q-square, model fit, path coefficients, and specific indirect effects. The results indicate that product quality has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Service quality also has a positive and significant effect on customer satisfaction and customer loyalty. Furthermore, customer satisfaction has a positive and significant effect on customer loyalty. The mediation analysis shows that customer satisfaction significantly mediates the effects of both product quality and service quality on customer loyalty. These findings highlight the importance of maintaining product and service quality while strengthening customer satisfaction as a strategic mechanism for building sustainable customer loyalty among MSMEs.

Abstract

Over the past three years, Company X, a cardboard manufacturing company, has experienced a significant increase in both the number of partners and production volume. However, this growth has not always been accompanied by optimal employee performance, highlighting the need for effective human resource management strategies. This study aims to analyze the role of job satisfaction as a mediator in the influence of leadership, work environment, and well-being on employee performance. The research sample consisted of 96 permanent employees of Company X. The exogenous variables analyzed include leadership, work environment, and well-being, with job satisfaction as the intervening variable and employee performance as the endogenous variable. The results indicate that all direct and indirect effects through job satisfaction are significant, with significance values below 0.05. Job satisfaction was found to mediate the effects of leadership, work environment, and well-being on employee performance. These findings underscore the crucial role of job satisfaction in enhancing employee motivation, productivity, and performance. Theoretically, this study reinforces the understanding of the mediating mechanism of job satisfaction between organizational factors and performance. Practically, the findings provide guidance for the management of Company X in designing policies and interventions that enhance employee satisfaction, thereby improving employee performance and supporting sustainable company growth.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to prove the effect of marketing activities on Non-Controlling Interest (NCI) expectations, namely dividends for NCI mediated by profitability and firm value. The data for this study are financial reports and stock prices of companies listed on the IDX 2020-2024 with a sample of 546 companies and observation data n = 2,730. Hypothesis testing uses Path Analysis. The results of the study indicate that marketing activities have a positive effect on the company's ability to meet NCI expectations, where profitability and firm value act as mediators of this influence. The results of the robustness test show results that are consistent with the hypothesis when testing the mediator of stock returns as a proxy for short-term NCI returns that pursue capital gains. The results of the additional test show that profitability and firm value are also mediators in the influence of marketing activities on the expectations of the owners of the parent entity. Originality of this study lies in the novelty of the model, specifically the mediating role of profitability and firm value in the relationship between marketing activities and non-controlling interest (NCI) expectations. The practical contribution of this research is to provide insights for marketing managers in formulating strategic policies aimed at meeting the expectations of all shareholders, including NCI.

Abstract

Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) increasingly rely on visual branding and social media to support digital entrepreneurship; however, the relationship between visual brand identity and customer conversion remains insufficiently explored, particularly in student-run food businesses. This study examines how visual brand identity, packaging design, and social media content relate to customer engagement and sales performance in Stik Nanasku, a pineapple stick snack business in Jambi. The novelty of this research lies in its integration of branding, social media performance, and sales outcomes within a student-managed MSME context, highlighting the gap between brand visibility and actual customer conversion. An exploratory descriptive single-case study design was employed using secondary data, including brand guidelines, product and competitor audits, SWOT analysis, Digital Business Model Canvas, transaction records, social media analytics, and an influencer campaign plan. Quantitative data were summarized from transaction records, while qualitative data were analyzed through document and visual content analysis. The findings indicate that the business successfully developed a coherent visual identity system and strategic business plan, while social media activities reached 7,660 accounts across 24 posts. Despite this reach, sales remained low, totaling 70 units and generating Rp490,000 in revenue. Most sales originated from personal referrals, whereas marketplace and social media channels produced no measurable conversions. The study also identified operational issues, including inconsistent brand specifications, unclear engagement metrics, and promotional costs exceeding realized revenue. The results suggest that visual branding and social media exposure alone are insufficient to generate customer conversion; therefore, effective business execution, brand governance, and conversion-focused marketing strategies are essential for improving commercial performance in early-stage MSMEs.
