Abstract

Indonesia is a nation with rich medicinal plants. Medicinal plants can be used for the treatment of diseases due to bacterial infection. Noni leaf (Morinda citrifolia) and garlic (Allium sativum) are medicinal plants and herbs that have the potential to inhibit or kill Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. The aim of this research is to know the antibacterial activity on the combination of extract noni leaf (Morinda citrifolia) and garlic (Allium sativum) to growth of Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. In this study using a research design that is a complete randomized design with purposive judgment sampling method.Anti-bacterial activity test performed by the disk diffusion method. The concentration of extract used is 10%, 30%, 60% and 90%. The analysis was done by Kruskal-Wallis test. The results of this study showed that a combination of 30% leaf extract and 10% garlic extract able to inhibit the growth of Staphylococcus aureus bacteria optimally with the average area of the inhibit zone is 12 mm. While on the combination of 30% noni leaf extract and 90% garlic extract able to inhibit the growth of Eschericia coli optimally with the average area of inhibit zone is 22,27 mm.

Abstract

Liquid soap is a liquid form that serves to cleanse the skin. The aim of this research are to know the optimization formulation and evaluation of liquid soap extract ethanol okra ( ) and also find the best concentration of okra extract as the inhibitors against Staphylococcus . Experimental laboratory was chosen as the research design. Liquid soap consists of 5 formulations, namely formulation 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5 which consist of 0%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 100% okra concentration. The antibacterial effectiveness was tested by disc method against liquid soap extract ethanol okra ( ) and the clear zone measured. The analysis done with two-way test. The results of the evaluation of liquid soap quality was appropriate with the standard of soap quality established by SNI 1994. The best moisture value found in the formulation of 5 (F5) with 0%form of 3.54%, the best free fatty acid found in formulation 4 (F4) with a concentration of 50% of 0.07135%, the best free alkali concentration was found in formulation 2 (F2) with a 25% concentration of 0.04194%, the best pH value was presented at concentrations of 0%, 25%, and 50% with a value of 9, the best value of foam stability found in Formula 1 (F1) with a 100% concentration of 9.1, the best density (BJ) test found in Formula 4 (F4) with 0% concentration. The result of ANOVA test with variation of ethanol okra concentration obtained p-value = 0.000 <0.05 which states there was a significant difference where liquid soap extract ethanol okra has antibacterial to Staphylococcus . The best inhibitory zone test resulted in formation 5 (F5) of 14.7 mm at 100% concentration.

Abstract

Warurejo village that located in Pasuruan district is the center of pia cake business expecially green beans pia. Pia cake is a cake that can’t durable cause by microorganism that come from the less clear and wraping in production. It makes contamination of mycotoxins from spesies of the fungus is Aspergillus flavus. Aspergillus flavus can produce a toxin metabolite compund that is aflatoxin. If aflatoxin is continuous consumtion will cause liver cancer. This research aim to determine presence of Aspergillus flavus on pia cake that produce by center of pia cake business in Warurejo village. It will be research with storage time of 0, 5 and 10 days. This study is descriptive, the number of sample taken randomly as many as 30 samples from 33 stores. Research this is obtained by macroscopically and microscopically. In macroscopically colonis that, look yellowish greeen and on the bottom is yellow to brown while microscopically rounded vesicles and conidi are round. 73% of Aspergillus flavus has positive contaminated fungus in 0 days and 5 days. 97% positive was Aspergillus flavus with 10 days storage time. In day 10 found more Aspergillus flavus fungus that on days 0 and 5 days.

Abstract

Bromelain enzyme contained in pineapple (Ananas comosus L.) are enzyme that have a function as anti-inflamatory in diabetic treatment periodically, will be giving impact to kidney function performance. This study to determine the effect of pineapple hump extract (Ananas comosus L.) on creatinine level in diabetic rabbits. Rabbits were acclimated for 3 weeks than measured the creatinine level to know the first level. So, it induced by alloxan as much as 195 mg/kg during ±2 weeks for conditioning under hyperglicemia. Then measured the creatinine level from 6 groups, it given pineapple extract with different concentration, those are positive control (+), negative control (-), extract 25%, 50%, 75% and 100%. Then measured of creatinine level did in enzymatic photometric method. In group of concentration 25% the creatinine level from 0,58 mg/dl become 1,07 mg/dl, in concentration 50% from 1,55 mg/dl become 1,25 mg/dl, in concentration 75% from 1,63 mg/dl become 1,19 mg/dl and in concentration 100% from 1,58 mg/dl become 1,42 mg/dl. The result of the study were tested statiscally with one way Anova test, it showed p> 0,05. It show Pineapple hump extract has no effect on the role of diabetic rabbits kidney.

Abstract

Dermatophytes are fungi that can cause dermatophytosis, this fungus attacks the skin of the stratum corneum. This study aims to determine the effectiveness Spondias dulcis leaf extract on the growth of Trichophyton rubrum in vitro. This research uses Trichophyton rubrum and Spondias dulcis leaf extract. The treatment in this study was divided into 6 treatment groups, namely negative control, concentration of 20%, 40%, 80%, 100% and positive control, as well as 4 repetitions. After incubation for 5-7 days then observations were made and the results showed that Spondias dulcis leaf extract with various concentrations did not have different results, there was no effect on the growth of Trichophyton rubrum in vitro. Negative control used 10% DMSO solution which showed no effect on the growth of Trichophyton rubrum. On positive control using terbinafine antifungal drugs showed results that were very influential on the growth of Trichophyton rubrum. So it can be concluded that Spondias dulcis leaf extract has no influence on the growth of Trichophyton rubrum.

Abstract

Alzaimer degerative diseases that attack the brain that occur due to several things including cholesterol and poisoning due to organopathic pesticides, cholinesterase. Triglycerides are a part of kolesterol which consists of about 20% of total cholesterol. Pesticide buildup in the body often occurs due to work risks. This study aims to determine how much cholinesterase activity and triglyceride levels are in workers exposed to organophosphate pesticides, and to determine the relationship of pesticide exposure to cholinesterase enzyme levels with triglyceride levels in workers who are exposed to workers exposed to pesticides. This research is an observational research with an experimental approach. The study was conducted at PT.X, which was exposed to 15 pesticides. This study uses a correlation test that will be shown if p <0.05. Based on the results of the study obtained based on the average results of cholinesterase activity obtained at 8,040 U/L while triglycerides at 186 mg/dL. And after the correlation test was obtained at 0.085 indicating that p> 0.05 so it was concluded that there was no relationship between cholinesterase activity with triglyceride levels.
