Abstract

The objective of this research is to identify whether there is a significant difference in the market reaction shown by the abnormal return and trading volume activity before and after the vaccine manufacturing announcement conducted by listed pharmaceutical companies around the world. The sample used in this research is listed pharmaceutical companies that conducted a vaccine manufacturing announcement during a pandemic, and the data collected is secondary data. This research uses the event study as its methodology with 3 event windows, which are one month before and after the announcement, ten days before and after the announcement, and five days before and after the announcement. The analysis of the normality test and paired difference test is conducted using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test with a significance level of 0.05. The result shows that there is no significant difference in both abnormal return and trading volume activity of the listed pharmaceutical companies before and after the vaccine manufacturing announcement. From this research, it can be concluded that the vaccine manufacturing announcement during a pandemic does not have a significant effect on the market reaction. To extend and further test the market reaction of pharmaceutical companies, future research could be done by exploring more on the effect of health-related news on all pharmaceutical companies, and the variables tested could be expanded

Abstract

Abrasion on the coast of Riau Province is becoming a serious problem that has not found an effective solution. The development of breakwaters and mangrove rehabilitation has not provided maximum benefits for the environment and society. The research was conducted in Mekong Village, West Tebingtinggi District, Meranti Islands Regency. The purpose of the study looked at how the model handled abrasion in the study area. Using a qualitative approach conducted interviews with the public, stakeholders and experts in the field of environment. Our results found there is a paradigm of handling abrasion that is wrong by making walls using both organic and plastic waste. This method has not shown effective results in withstanding ocean waves and preventing abrasion. However, in terms of environmental models handling abrasion with garbage deposits actually pollute the environment. To handle abrasion well we argue more modern ways are needed or apply the concept of ecological modernization. The concept integrates modern science and technology from industrial societies to repair damaged or threatened environments. Ecological modernization as well as being a sustainable development effort in the field of environment, especially coastal. The application of ecological modernization is challenged including the orientation of thinking that has not been in favor of modern concepts, softfkill limitations, capital, and stakeholder support. This portrait shows the need for stakeholder intervention and cohesiveness in supporting and implementing ecological modernization in handling abrasion to be more effective and efficient

Abstract

This empirical theoretical study investigates the two-way relationship between corporate social responsibility and financial performance in Indonesian businesses. The theoretical underpinning for the conceptual model is based on agency, stewardship, resource reliance, and stakeholder theory. The social behavior index is made up of four components: participation in global reporting initiatives, inclusion of Green Index firms, good compliance, Corporate Governance Recommendations, and signatories to the Global Compact. The study's findings reveal a positive relationship in both directions: social benefits and positive feedback that social policies increase financial resources. Increased financial success, on the other hand, boosts the social and economic benefits of enacting rules that encourage board-level components to seriously consider spending more money. As a result, this research motivates social behavior members to contribute globally to the betterment of society
