Abstract

As the part of vulnerable groups, elderly people hold the rights to social security according to the constitution of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This study has been launched for the purpose of revealing the picture of the facts and figures of the deprivation of social security as human rights violation of the elderly people in Bangladesh. The study has been done based on both primary and secondary sources of data. It reviewed the social security programs regarding elderly people such as, old age allowance, widow allowance and disability allowance. The study found that the government has taken several programs. But these programs have not been successful to achieve cent percent success due to corruption, nepotism and inadequate national economy. Most of the elderly people of Bangladesh cannot enjoy properly the rights to social security. For raising awareness about rights and responsibilities, enhancing proper ethical education can be helpful to remove these obstacles. Raising massive social movement against corruption and nepotism can also be helpful as the beacon of hope in the way of ensuring social security of the elderly people in Bangladesh.

Abstract

This study is a test of Confucian filial piety’s ability to influence deviant behavioral outcomes among young people. Variables examining the acceptance/rejection of parental guidelines by young people, representing levels of filial piety, were collected from the NLSY97. These acceptance/rejection of parental guidelines variables were tested by delinquency and substance use outcome variables. The data was attained from the first three waves of responses from the NLSY97, with a sample of 8,985 people from the United States within the ages of 12-19. Confucian theory was supported by this examination, even after controlling for several variables including ethnicity, gender, year of birth, household income, parent education, etc. Generally, the more that parental guidelines were rejected, the greater the probability for delinquency and substance use. Limit-breaking in the years 1997 (both youth and parent reports) and 1999 (youth report) produced significantly greater levels of delinquency and substance use. Limit-breaking in 1998 (youth report) had no effect on delinquency and substance use. When young people reject the limits set by their parents, when they reject filial piety, there is a greater likelihood that limits will be broken within society as well. This study adds support to Confucian criminological theory.

Vietnam is a country with a lot of potential and strengths in agriculture, but in the current period, along with the narrowing of arable land, the quality of soil and the increasingly harsh climate have caused difficulties for activities. Along with the strong development of the industrial revolution 4.0, the application of Internet of Things (IoT) technology in agriculture is increasingly popular. However, for the application to be synchronized and to effectively exploit IoT technology resources in the agricultural sector, it is necessary to have a policy orientation on science and application from the government. This article will address the outstanding issues of IoT application in Vietnamese agriculture and point out some potential applications.

Abstract

This study aims to examine religiosity, spirituality, and paternalistic leadership's direct influence on Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) or through job satisfaction variables in the Creative Industry sector in Indonesia. This research can be categorized as explanatory research. This research was conducted in Indonesia's creative industry, divided into 16 business fields with a total sample of 406 employees. This study found that religiosity, spirituality, and paternalistic leadership positively and significantly affect OCB. However, suppose through the moderating variable of job satisfaction, the correlation coefficient is smaller than the direct correlation coefficient. In that case, it can be concluded that job satisfaction is not an appropriate moderating variable for the variable religiosity, spirituality, and paternalistic leadership towards OCB. From this study, we can conclude that religiosity, spirituality, paternalistic leadership, and job satisfaction in employees and organizational leaders need to be improved because they are proven to affect OCB directly. Thus, it will also affect individual and organizational performance.

Abstract

Micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) across the globe have been the major victims of the COVID-19 pandemic, which has plunged the business world into a serious crisis. However, Employee Engagement (EE) has been labeled as an essential nutrient that organizations need in order to survive in these turbulent times. This study was to examine the effect of EE on Employee Performance during the COVID-19 pandemic and how this relationship is moderated by job demands. The study used a sample size of 395 respondents who were chosen from a variety of MSMEs via a convenience sampling method. The study used a survey questionnaire approach as the main method for collecting primary data. The result of the correlation analysis showed that there was a significant relationship between EE and employee performance. It was revealed that job resources moderated the relationship between EE and employee performance. Finally, the result showed that job resources had a significant effect on EE. Thus, it can be concluded that, in the face of COVID-19, EE is a significant predictor of the performance of employees in the MSMEs sector.
