Abstract

Background: Cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) remain the leading global cause of mortality, and recent evidence suggests a bidirectional relationship between systemic inflammation and periodontal disease (PD). Specific Background: Oral microbiota dysbiosis, particularly involving pathogens such as P. gingivalis, A. actinomycetemcomitans, and T. forsythia, has been implicated in CVD progression through inflammatory and metabolic pathways. Knowledge Gap: While previous studies have highlighted possible associations, limited data exist regarding the prevalence of these pathogens and their correlation with systemic inflammatory markers and cardiovascular risk factors in Middle Eastern populations. Aim: This study investigated the prevalence of key periodontal pathogens in patients with CVD and their relationship with systemic biomarkers and cardiovascular risk indicators. Results: A total of 150 CVD patients and 50 healthy controls were analyzed. Patients exhibited significantly higher prevalence of periodontal pathogens (74% P. gingivalis, 56% A. actinomycetemcomitans, 62% T. forsythia), elevated inflammatory markers (CRP, IL-6, TNF-α), dyslipidemia, and increased BMI compared with controls (p < 0.001). Pathogen prevalence correlated positively with CVD severity. Novelty: This study provides region-specific evidence linking periodontal pathogens to systemic inflammation and cardiovascular risk. Implications: The findings underscore the importance of integrating oral health care into cardiovascular disease prevention and management strategies.Highlight : Periodontal pathogens are found more frequently in patients with CVD. Increased inflammatory markers are associated with disease severity. Risk factors such as high cholesterol increase the likelihood of CVD. Keywords : Cardiovascular Disease, Periodontal Pathogens, P. Gingivalis, CVD Risk Factors, Inflammatory Markers

Abstract

General Background: Traditional financial theories, such as the Efficient Market Hypothesis and Modern Portfolio Theory, assume rational, utility-maximizing investors. Specific Background: However, empirical evidence shows persistent cognitive and emotional biases—loss aversion, overconfidence, herding, mental accounting, and anchoring—that distort investment decisions and market outcomes. Knowledge Gap: Despite growing interest in behavioral finance, there remains insufficient synthesis that integrates these psychological factors with conventional financial frameworks, particularly across diverse contexts. Aims: This study conducts a comprehensive literature review to examine how behavioral finance theories influence individual and institutional investment decisions. Results: The findings reveal that systematic biases shape investor behavior by driving excessive risk-taking, irrational asset allocation, and susceptibility to market inefficiencies, thereby challenging rational-choice models. Novelty: Unlike prior works, this review offers a structured thematic synthesis of behavioral concepts, highlights empirical patterns across global studies, and underscores the interdisciplinary relevance of psychology in finance. Implications: The study calls for reform in financial education, the integration of behavioral diagnostics into fintech, and the development of policy tools informed by cognitive biases, ultimately contributing to more resilient investment strategies and adaptive financial systems.Highlights: Investor decisions are often shaped by psychological biases rather than rational models. Behavioral finance provides tools to anticipate and correct irrational market behaviors. Integrating psychology into financial education and policy enhances decision-making. Keywords: Behavioral Finance, Investment Decisions, Cognitive Biases, Prospect Theory, Market Inefficiency

Abstract

General Background: In volatile and resource-constrained markets, marketing foresight has emerged as a strategic capability that enables firms to anticipate change and align offerings with consumer expectations. Specific Background: While extensively studied in developed economies, the role of marketing foresight in shaping perceived product value within emerging markets remains underexplored. Knowledge Gap: Limited empirical evidence exists on how the specific dimensions of marketing foresight—novelty, executability, credibility, market fitness, and commercial feasibility—affect customers’ value perception in Iraqi start-ups. Aims: This study investigates the impact of foresight dimensions on perceived product value, identifying which dimensions exert the greatest influence. Results: Using survey data from 125 employees in consumer-based start-ups in Baghdad and employing regression analysis, findings reveal that credibility and market fitness significantly enhance perceived product value, while novelty and executability show weaker effects, and commercial feasibility has only marginal influence. Novelty: By empirically disentangling the relative contributions of foresight dimensions in an unstable emerging-market context, this study challenges the assumption that novelty is the primary driver of value creation. Implications: The results highlight that in environments marked by uncertainty, trust and market alignment outweigh radical innovation, offering valuable insights for start-ups and policymakers to prioritize credibility, customer-centric alignment, and incremental innovation for sustainable competitiveness. Highlights: Credibility and market fitness are the strongest predictors of product value. Novelty and executability have weaker, non-significant effects. Consumers in volatile markets prioritize trust and alignment over radical innovation. Keywords: Marketing Foresight, Perceived Value, Credibility, Market Fitness, Start-up

Abstract

General Background: Inheritance remains one of the most sensitive issues in Islamic family law, as it intertwines material distribution with justice, kinship, and social harmony. Specific Background: The Compilation of Islamic Law (KHI) in Indonesia explicitly prohibits inheritance across religions, creating legal rigidity when confronted with plural family realities shaped by interfaith marriages and conversions. Knowledge Gap: While classical jurisprudence closes the door to interfaith inheritance, Indonesian legal pluralism and social justice demands reveal tensions between strict fiqh norms and societal needs, with limited scholarly synthesis on the role of mandatory wills as a legal compromise. Aims: This study aims to analyze the legal construction of inheritance for heirs of different religions under the KHI and evaluate the jurisprudential role of mandatory wills as a middle path in Indonesian courts. Results: Findings show that although the KHI normatively restricts inheritance to Muslims, jurisprudence recognizes mandatory wills as a mechanism to grant non-Muslim heirs a share, aligning with constitutional principles of justice and reducing family conflict. Novelty: This research highlights mandatory wills as a dynamic legal innovation that bridges classical fiqh with contemporary demands of pluralism and human rights. Implications: Reforming inheritance law to formally integrate mandatory wills will strengthen legal certainty, prevent discrimination, and promote social harmony within Indonesia’s diverse society.Highlight : KHI prohibits interfaith inheritance but raises justice issues. Obligatory wills act as a middle ground in court practices. Reform of inheritance law is needed to be more inclusive and responsive. Abstract

General Background: Milk composition in sheep is influenced by various genetic and environmental factors. Specific Background: Among these, non-genetic contributors during early lactation remain underexplored, particularly in the Awassi breed reared in Iraq. Knowledge Gap: Limited data exist on how ewe-related non-genetic factors influence key milk constituents over time postpartum. Aims: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of ewe age, lamb sex, birth type, and body weight on milk fat, lactose, protein, and solid-not-fat (SNF) concentrations during early lactation in Awassi ewes. Results: In a 4 × 2 × 2 × 3 factorial design using 50 ewes, milk fat declined from day 10 (8.55%) to day 30 (7.23%) before rebounding, while lactose remained stable (~4.3%), and both SNF and protein increased gradually. Young ewes had higher fat, whereas four-year-olds had the least. Twin births were associated with lower fat but higher lactose and SNF. Heavier ewes showed elevated SNF at later stages. Lamb sex had no significant impact. Negative correlations were observed between fat and both lactose and SNF. Novelty: This study is among the first to quantify time-specific effects of multiple non-genetic factors on Awassi milk traits. Implications: These findings underscore the importance of managing ewe-specific variables to enhance milk quality in Awassi sheep husbandry. Highlights: Non-genetic factors such as ewe age, birth type, and body weight significantly shape milk traits. Fat decreases mid-lactation, while protein and SNF steadily increase. Findings provide management insights to improve ovine dairy quality in semi-arid regions. Keywords: Awassi Ewes, Milk Composition, Non-Genetic Factors, Early Lactation
