Abstract

Room monitoring in office buildings or campuses such as POLMED, especially the use of lights and indoor activities after working hours, is very necessary. In this research, a wireless sensor network with a mesh topology was implemented. A network with a mesh topology allows each node to establish communication with surrounding nodes and send information through intermediary nodes. This implementation is able to provide benefits by increasing the network area, number of sensor nodes and network reliability. The monitoring system is designed to consist of sensor nodes and server nodes. Each server node consists of a light sensor, motion sensor and XBee RF module for communication placed in each room, so that each node can communicate and send information to the monitoring center. The server node as a monitoring center receives data from sensor nodes which can be displayed in room mapping. In testing the sensor node network, it can successfully send a message to the server node if there is at least one intermediate node that can forward the message to the destination. From the test results, it was found that sending one frame with 17 bytes was 0.09 s, 0.11 s, and 0.12 s for 1 hop, 2 hops and 3 hops respectively.

Abstract

Motorbikes are an alternative transportation for the majority of lower middle class Indonesians, because motorbikes have affordable prices, low maintenance costs, and are fuel efficient. The increasingly rapid use of motorbikes also increases the speed of criminal acts, namely motorbike theft, because apart from user error, the built-in security system of motorbikes can still be hacked, which can trigger theft. To overcome this, a security system was added with tools that can monitor and control remotely. This system utilizes RFID to recognize registered IDs. To turn it on, you can only use the ID that has been registered. Then the ESP 32 which is connected to Mifi is the brain that processes the motorbike and will send notifications and locations using the GPS module to the user via telegram. If the ID used is not registered and you tap 3 times/the motorbike is indicated to be stolen, a danger notification will be sent to the user via telegram. Users can also send commands back to the motorbike remotely via telegram. The results of this research show that the efficient RFID distance is 1-3 cm because there is no error (0%), and GPS accuracy has an average error of 3.3 meters, as well as suitability for use of the Telegram application.

Abstract

Power quality is an important issue currently in the field of electrical equipment and electric power, so engineers do a lot of research on power quality. As technology develops, more and more electrical equipment is used, many electrical equipment use electronic power such as converters and others. Remembering previous research that has been carried out, namely, Simulation of AC-DC Buck Boost Converter Control with Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) using Matlab Simulink. For this reason, further research needs to be carried out with a different control system, namely fuzzy logic. By using fuzzy logic control, the simulation results show that fuzzy logic control is able to maintain the power factor value on the input side as well as the output voltage and output current values on the AC-DC buck boost converter. The rise time value shows a short and constant value based on each V reference. However, the overshoot value was not found, nor was the peak time, peak time was not found because there was no overshoot value in the output voltage and output current waveforms in the AC-DC buck boost converter simulation with a fuzzy logic controller using Matlab Simulink.

Abstract

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a disease caused by the dengue virus which is transmitted to humans through the bites of Aedes aegypti and Aedes albopictus mosquitoes which were previously infected with the dengue virus from other dengue fever sufferers. This research aims to apply the Geographically Weighted Panel Regression (GWPR) method. in identifying what factors influence the development of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever in 33 districts in North Sumatra Province starting from September 2022-August 2023 with a rainy and dry season pattern. The results of this research show that the appropriate GWPR model is the fixed effect model with the pepmbobot kerne bisquare function. Based on this model, the districts/cities of North Sumatra are divided into ten groups based on variables with a high significant influence on the percentage of development of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever. The factors that influence this percentage are gender, namely male and female, then Age, namely ≤ 14 Years and Age ≥ 14 Years.

Abstract

This article explores the implementation and impact of Outcome-Based Education (OBE) in engineering programs, emphasizing the shift from traditional methods to focusing on students' higher-order thinking and practical skills. It highlights how various educational standards, such as those from Engineers Australia and ABET, align with OBE principles. Using an anonymous online survey, the study evaluates the Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) achievement among graduates from the Mechanical Engineering Education Department at Universitas Negeri Medan. The survey covers graduates' skills in areas like mathematical tools, 3D modeling, and engineering project execution. Results indicate that while some PEOs are satisfactorily achieved, others, such as PEO3 (3D modeling skills) and PEO7 (experimental approaches), require improvement. The study suggests enhancing curriculum components to better align with industry needs and continuously improve educational quality. Future research should incorporate employer feedback to provide a more comprehensive evaluation of graduates' preparedness.

Abstract

Association Rule Mining (ARM) is one of unsupervised learning approach of machine learning. It acts as a data analysis technique that enables the identification of frequent patterns, correlations, associations, and causal structures within certain datasets. This method widely used in numerous studies and practices to explore knowledges and strengthen decision making. However, dealing a large dataset with high number of transactions may become the shortcoming for the ARM algorithms, such as Apriori, FP-Growth, and Eclat. It leads them to face several challenges, including computational complexity, long mining durations, and memory consumption. Hence, this paper proposes k-means clustering to generates several groups of data to handle the issue, then proceed the ARM algorithms for each individual produced cluster. The study used Elbow method and Silhouette Coefficient as the method to determining optimum number of clusters to be used. The result pointed out that k-means-ARM generates a greater number of rules and provides more contextually relevant and significant correlations. In term of Lift Ratio average score, the k-means-ARM shows the greater value rather than non k-means ARM. The k-means-ARM combination is robust; this approach improves the efficiency and scalability of ARM for large datasets and enhances the interpretability of the discovered association rules

Abstract

Increased global warming and awareness of the need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions have strengthened the focus on energy efficiency in various sectors, including the HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) industry. In this context, the selection of air conditioning (AC) systems becomes crucial in providing thermal comfort. However, decisions regarding air conditioning systems are often complex as they involve considerations of energy efficiency, operational costs, system reliability, and environmental impact. To address this complexity, Complex Proportional Assessment (COPRAS) emerged as an effective multi-criteria analysis method. However, the application of COPRAS in determining AC system traffickers is still limited. This research explores the possible application of COPRAS in this context and identifies key factors to consider. The evaluation results show that Medan Elektronik and Citra Inovasi Prima are the top choices in the selection of AC system traffickers. This research is expected to contribute to the development of more sophisticated analysis methods in the HVAC industry as well as assist decision makers in selecting more appropriate and sustainable air conditioning systems.

Abstract

Stunting is a problem related to chronic malnutrition that can be caused by inadequate nutritional intake. Stunting is usually found in toddlers aged 12-36 months which is often not realized because usually the difference between normal children and stunted children is not specifically visible. Therefore, researchers want to know the problem of how to model cases of stunted toddlers using Robust Geographically Weighted Regression in North Sumatra. With quantitative research methods, the results obtained were 33 models of the number of cases of stunted toddlers in North Sumatra which were formed using the Robust Geographically Weighted Regression (RGWR) method with a fixed Gaussian kernel weighting function and gave different results for each Regency /City in North Sumatra. Among them is the RGWR mode in Central Tapanuli = 193.2119 + 1.306099 ???? 1 + 0.013863 ???? 2 + 0.000913 ???? 3 – 0.00469 ???? 4 – 0.051564 ???? 5 + ???? and it is obtained that the level of accuracy of the RGWR model is able to provide better estimation results. This is supported by the MAPE value of the RGWR model of 15%, which is in the range of 10% -20%. So the model used is appropriate and effective in estimating the number of cases of stunting toddlers in North Sumatra.
