JETLe was established in 2019 by Tadris Bahasa Inggris (English Education Department) Faculty of Education and Teacher Training of Universitas Islam Negeri Maulana Malik which is regulary published twice a year on April and October. The journal welcomes articles from Indonesia and other nations where English language and literature are part of the school and higher education curriculum. This journal seeks to share the knowledge and expertise of English teachers, researchers, practicioners, consultans and advisers who are enganged in English through out the world. THe journal invites the submission of papers which report on dynamic and interactive pedagogies and which interrogate contemporary responses to the changing nature of communication in all its form, including drama,digital and media literacy, literature, linguistics as well as aspect in English language

Abstract

This action research project aimed to improve the participation of learners in the class of General English. Collaborative activities were designed by grouping learners to work with the assigned tasks. The data were collected through observation. The findings showed that the participation of learners increased greatly characterized by the involvement of all learners in more active participation through group discussions and presentations of their works. Furthermore, the findings revealed that the learners look more confident to speak, more motivated to complete the assigned tasks, more enjoyable in learning, more focused on the lesson, and more engaged to think critically and creatively. In the attempt to disseminate our teaching experience, this article mainly focuses on the practical implementation of our collaborative action that is aimed to encourage other teachers and practitioners to implement the same research to improve their practices.

Abstract

This research aims at describing how bestseller food brand names in Grab and Go-Jek Application are created. To analyze the data found, the researchers applied English word formation in English morphology. The researchers used descriptive research. The data were bestseller food brands which found in Grab and Go-Jek Mobile Application. It is a kind of Application which provides delivery foods. The data were only taken from the 2019 period of those applications. The researcher found that the best seller food brand names in the Grab and Go-Jek application can be created by applying word formation such as compounding, borrowing, reduplication, abbreviation, acronym, and clipping.

Abstract

The interest in and research on blended learning have increased and developed in the last two decades. This study addresses the topic of blended learning particularly exploring the different definitions of blended learning and the views of teachers on blended learning courses. By locating papers on blended learning using specific databases, this systematic study appraises peer-reviewed articles published between 2000 and 2019. After examining the full papers, 32 studies are then selected as they meet all inclusion criteria and answer the research questions. The findings of this study indicate that blended learning is not a homogenous concept since it means different thing to different people. Besides, teachers in the blended courses experience several challenges, hence constant supports and persistent effort from all the components including the related institution should be given to achieve the potential benefits of this learning mode.Keywords:Blended learning, higher education, teacher perception

Abstract

Language acquisition is a term to define the process of getting language ability naturally and subconsciously. In language acquisition, there is an optimal time for the children to acquire language optimally. The time is known as critical period that is believed when the critical time is passed by the children without get contact with the language, it will be (almost) impossible to acquire first language and be the native of second language, latter. In other hand, while children acquire language, they will do mistakes (often) and error (rarely). It is related how the children percept language and the way they produce it. In reference to develop language in human, this paper will explore theoretical frameworks related with the steps of children language acquisition which happened in the early childhood related with the transformational process of language perception into language production.

Abstract

Abstract. The crucial presence of instructional materials at English classes, especially English for Specific Purposes, has commonly been approved. ESP materials provide exposure to the genres needed by the students, including those at Islamic Education Department. It is, therefore, inevitable that the textbook meets some criteria for the success of the program. In this paper, the writers evaluated an ESP textbook institutionally prepared for students of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training Faculty at IAIN Tulungagung. The analysis in this qualitative descriptive research was based on Cunningsworth’s and Miekley’s checklists for textbook evaluation. The book was evaluated on the category of aims and approaches, design and organization, content, skills, topic, methodology, vocabulary and grammar, exercises and activities, attractiveness of the text and physical make up, context, and practical considerations. The results showed that almost all categories are marked as adequate. It is indicated that the textbook mainly focused on vocabulary enrichment. Some recommendations for textbook improvement and revision are given at the final part of this study, particularly those related to the challenge on the advanced of technology.Keywords.
