Abstract

One of theses that would be presented here in this article is within the historiography of the modern era of religious tolerance the Protestant Reformation era has always been considered of paramount important for the developments which led to the achievement of a liberal and tolerant society. The history shows, however, that the first century of the Reformation was followed by the intolerence, and some nations like Germany, France, England put into practice the political, economic interets which corelatted with religious belief. The break-up of the near monolithic structure of medieval Western Christianity for the first time presented contemporary lay and ecclesiastical rulers with the practical problem of how to deal with religious plurality. The aspects of religious toleration, such as freedom of conscience and freedom of worship, are something new. This article presents the efforts of Western Christians to give the solution.

Abstract

The development of science and technology cannot be excluded from the human thinking in modern world. One of the major problem which echo comes and goes along the time is the what so called "dilemma of determinism", which is also associated inclusively to the problem of God's existence. Natural science brings a deep implication in thinking leading to determinism of human being as a part of the nature and moves together with the natural processes, that flows according to the natural laws without human decision. But modern science which development is accelerated by the combination of concepts in physics, chemistry and computer, explains that the previous natural laws do not apply in micro systems and the quantum mechanics takes over to rule the behavior of elementary particles in atomic scale. Then modern concepts in science aroused: chaos, complexity, dissipative structure, fractal, which speak about irregularity, unpredictability, then a causality of things that rooted deeply from the microscale dynamics, are expected to be one way out which provides a "chance" which in turn still offers a place for human freedom.

Abstract

Abstract

This article deals philosophically with the war crimes against humanity in the international law. The study focuses on the understanding of what we mean by the war crime and its historical development. The war crimes presuppose the list of the unlawful materials or cruel actions by which we mean violation against humanity. The author offers analysis of war crimes from the perspective of the international law or international convention concerning war. He suggests that the knowledge of what may be called “war crimes” is indispensable, as our time is at war (actually war on Iraq by the Allies). In addition, in a war-time the law enforcement seems to be in vain as well. The author tries to impose the indisputable human treatment toward those who are involved in war. The people should be respected humanly regardless of war-time.
