Abstract

The Merdeka Curriculum is a form of continuation and simplification of the 2013 Curriculum, which is the government's breakthrough as an effort to improve the condition of Indonesian education. SMP Negeri 2 Gebog faces challenges in implementing the Merdeka Curriculum, especially in social studies learning. Even though various forms of socialization and training have been provided, there are still teachers who do not fully understand the stages of curriculum implementation, which include Diagnostic Assessment, Learning Planning, and Learning Implementation. In addition, the challenges of adapting to curriculum changes, both on the part of teachers and students, are factors that affect the effectiveness of the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum. The purpose of this study is to explain the curriculum implementation stage in social studies learning, including Diagnostic Assessment, Learning Planning, and Learning Implementation. The method used in this research is a qualitative method using qualitative data whose data sources are obtained from seventh grade social studies teachers at SMP Negeri 2 Gebog. Data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interview, and documentation. The results of this study explain overall that the implementation of Merdeka Curriculum in Social Studies Learning at SMP Negeri 2 Gebog is in accordance with the reference stages of learning implementation in Merdeka Curriculum, including Diagnostic Assessment, Learning Planning, and Learning Implementation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore the description, factors, and efforts made by teachers to strengthen the social communication skills of class XII students of SMAN 1 Sindangwangi, Majalengka Regency. The problem found is the decline in communication skills in students caused by the influence of online game, self-confidence, and the social environment at school. The research method used is a qualitative method with the Alfred Schutz phenomenological approach with the lifeworld experienced by students as research subjects with the intersubjectivity of their positive interactions with other students and teachers. The findings of this study reveal the meaning that students' social communication skills in high school are not only in techniques but are firmly embedded in local Sundanese cultural values, the spirit of collectivity and aspects of religiosity shown through a series of efforts that have been made by teachers, namely implementing varied learning methods including group discussions, presentations, and questions and answers. Teachers also often use PBL and Inquiry Learning models. Teachers have integrated 21st-century skills into learning as an effort to foster intersubjectivity. Prominent factors influencing the social communication skills of 12th-grade students are self-confidence, emotional intelligence, and technology.

Abstract

Innovative anti-corruption education in the digital age requires integrating technology to effectively engage young people in understanding corruption’s dangers. This study explores the application of a Learning Management System (LMS) in anti-corruption education through a student-centered, team-based project learning approach. A qualitative case study was conducted at Universitas Bhinneka PGRI and STKIP PGRI Trenggalek, involving 55 students, two lecturers, and leaders of related universities. Data were gathered via interviews, documentation, and observations and analyzed interactively. The results indicated that LMS facilitated increased student engagement in anti-corruption learning, particularly through discussion forums and project-based activities. However, challenges such as technology access and student comfort with digital learning emerged. The study recommends expanding LMS usage in anti-corruption education, with additional support through technology training and improved accessibility. This approach can enhance the effectiveness, relevance, and sustainability of anti-corruption education, better equipping future generations to combat corruption.

Abstract

History learning, especially at the high school level, requires innovation because it often faces obstacles in the form of extensive material that can leave students less motivated and make it challenging to achieve optimal cognitive performance. This study aims to test the effectiveness of the Snowball Throwing Learning Model (STLM) in improving students' cognitive ability and learning motivation in Dutch colonial materials in grade XI of SMAN 1 Kauman. The research used a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach, involving an experimental group and a control group consisting of 30 students each. Data were collected via learning outcome tests and motivation questionnaires and analyzed using t-tests and MANOVA. The results showed a significance value (2-tailed) of 0.000, which is smaller than 0.05, indicating that STLM has a significant effect on students' motivation and cognitive abilities. This model encourages students to actively engage in cooperative activities, exchange information, and develop critical thinking skills through the dynamic process of creating and discussing questions. In addition, STLM enhances classroom interaction, students' creativity, and their understanding of historical concepts. These findings suggest that STLM is effectively applied in history learning at the high school level and has the potential to be adopted more widely to support active, collaborative, and meaningful learning.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of differentiated learning in social studies at MTs Manbaul Hikmah, a school under the auspices of Gedongan Islamic Boarding School. Differentiated learning attempts to adapt the learning process to the needs, interests, and individual characteristics of students. This approach is important because each student has a different background, potential, and learning style. The study used a descriptive qualitative method with a focus on grade VII. Data were obtained through observation, interviews with social studies teachers, the vice principal for curriculum, and students, and supported by learning documentation. The results showed that teachers were able to adapt differentiated strategies in a heterogeneous classroom context, despite facing limitations of time, resources, and the Islamic boarding school culture that emphasizes uniformity. The novelty of this study lies in the study of the implementation of differentiated learning in the Islamic boarding school environment, contributing to the development of inclusive and contextual learning strategies in Madrasah Tsanawiyah.

Abstract

Indonesia's diverse society necessitates respect for differences in daily social interactions. Internalizing religious moderation values is crucial for fostering mutual respect, particularly through education like Social Sciences (IPS) learning, using the local wisdom approach of Sunan Kudus. This study aims to: 1) understand the principles of religious moderation exhibited by Sunan Kudus in spreading Islam; and 2) analyze the internalization of these values in MTs Negeri Kudus. Utilizing a qualitative method, data was collected through observation, interviews, and documentation from 18 informants (16 students and 2 IPS teachers) across MTs N 1 Kudus and MTs N 2 Kudus, selected via purposive sampling. The result : 1) Sunan Kudus's religious moderation is built upon 4 main principles: a) tawassuth (moderation); b) tasamuh (tolerance); c) al-la'unf (non-violence); and d) i'tiraf al-'urf (acknowledgment of local customs). 2) The internalization of these values is structured within a learning module and implemented through three stages: value transformation, value transaction, and value transinternalization. This research suggests that integrating local wisdom, such as the exemplary values of Sunan Kudus, can enrich Social Sciences learning, offering a more complete delivery of materials and fostering attitudes of religious moderation among students.

Abstract

Low interest in learning of students is a common problem in social studies learning. The lecture method that is still dominant is considered less relevant to the characteristics of Generation Alpha, who are more responsive to visual and interactive learning. This condition requires the presence of interesting learning media, one of which is crossword media. This study aims to measure the influence of crossword learning media on students' learning interests in social studies subjects. The method used is quantitative with a quasi-experimental design. The research sample was selected using purposive sampling techniques from class VIII of SMPN 1 Garut, namely classes VIII G and VIII H. The instruments used included interviews, pretests, posttests, learning interest questionnaires, observations, and reflections. Data were analyzed using validity, reliability, normality, homogeneity, the t-test, the Mann-Whitney test, the Pearson correlation test, and the simple linear regression test and supported by the SPSS version 27 device. The results of the study showed that crossword media can increase students' interest in learning by around 66.7%, especially in the aspects of active involvement and discipline. Although no significant correlation was found between posttest results and learning interest scores, changes in students' learning behavior were noticeable. This media is effective in encouraging interest in learning in affective and social contexts if supported by appropriate teaching strategies.
