Abstract

ABSTRACT Scabies is a contagious skin disease caused by the infestation of the mite Sarcoptes scabiei, which frequently occurs in crowded environments such as Islamic boarding schools. This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge and personal hygiene with the incidence of scabies among students at the Darul Mukhlisin Islamic Boarding School in Aceh Tengah District. The research method used is quantitative analysis with a cross-sectional approach. The research population consisted of all male students from the MTs (Islamic Junior High School) of Darul Mukhlisin Islamic Boarding School, totaling 160 students. The sample consisted of 62 students selected through random sampling. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and field observations and analyzed using the chi-square test with a 95% significance level. The results of the study showed that the chi-square significance value for knowledge was (p-value=0.000) <0.05 and for personal hygiene was (p-value=0.002) <0.05. This indicates a significant relationship between knowledge and personal hygiene with the incidence of scabies in the boarding school. Based on the research findings, it is concluded that students with good knowledge and good personal hygiene practices have a lower risk of experiencing scabies. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to analyze the management of solid medical waste at Puskesmas Pante Raya using a descriptive qualitative approach. This method is used to provide a detailed description of the ongoing medical waste management conditions at the health center. The results show that while most processes, such as waste segregation, packaging, and temporary storage, have been carried out in accordance with established standards, there are several deficiencies that need to be addressed. Key findings include the absence of a consistent self-weighing system to record the amount of waste and the manual transportation process being conducted without a specialized trolley, which increases the risk of contamination. Additionally, the duration of waste storage in the temporary storage area often exceeds the stipulated limit of 90 days. Although there is cooperation with third parties for final waste management, there are frequent delays in the transportation process. This study concludes that improvements in the recording system and adherence to transportation schedules are necessary to reduce the risk of waste accumulation and ensure more effective medical waste management at Puskesmas Pante Raya. Abstract

ABSTRACT The general objective of this study is to examine the relationship between knowledge and ownership of sanitation facilities with diarrhea incidence in the working area of UPTD Puskesmas Lampahan, Bener Meriah District, in 2024. This research is a quantitative analytical study with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consists of families experiencing diarrhea, totaling 118 respondents. The sample size is 91, selected using purposive sampling. The research instrument employed is a questionnaire. Univariate and bivariate analyses are conducted using the chi-square test. The results indicate that the average level of knowledge among respondents is sufficient, with 31 respondents (34.1%) having adequate knowledge. The number of households with sanitation facilities is 54 (59.3%), and those experiencing diarrhea is also 54 (59.3%). Based on the chi-square test results, the p-value for the knowledge variable is (0.001) ≥ (0.05), indicating that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and there is a relationship between knowledge and diarrhea incidence. For sanitation facility ownership, the p-value is (0.000) ≤ (0.05), meaning that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted, and there is a relationship between sanitation facility ownership and diarrhea incidence. It is recommended that the community enhance their understanding and awareness of the importance of environmental sanitation, including the ownership of sanitation facilities, as these are crucial in preventing disease vectors caused by feces. Abstract

ABSTRACT This study is a quantitative research with a cross-sectional approach. The population in this study consists of heads of households who do not own a family latrine, totaling 300 respondents. The sample size is 75 respondents, selected using Accidental Sampling. The research instrument used a questionnaire, and data analysis was performed using univariate and bivariate methods with the chi-square test. The study findings reveal that the level of knowledge about family latrines is low, with 53.5% or 40 respondents showing insufficient knowledge. The attitude towards family latrines is also poor, with 53.5% or 40 respondents reflecting negative attitudes. The income level related to family latrines is moderate, with 62.7% or 47 respondents falling into this category. Family latrine ownership is reported to be poor, with 76.0% or 57 respondents lacking adequate facilities. Based on the chi-square test results, the p-value for the knowledge variable is (0.03) ≤ (0.05), indicating that the null hypothesis (Ha) is accepted and there is no significant relationship between knowledge and latrine ownership. For attitudes, the p-value is (0.03) ≤ (0.05), indicating a significant relationship between attitudes and latrine ownership. For income, the p-value is (0.03) ≤ (0.05), suggesting a significant relationship between income and latrine ownership. To improve public health, it is essential to enhance understanding and awareness of the importance of having a family latrine. This can prevent the practice of open defecation and discourage the habit of disposing waste in rivers or other areas without septic tanks, thus avoiding environmental contamination and promoting healthier living conditions. Keywords : Knowledge, Attitude, Income
