Narada: Jurnal Desain dan Seni diterbitkan oleh Fakultas Desain dan Seni Kreatif, Universitas Mercu Buana. Jurnal ini merupakan sarana untuk mempublikasikan tulisan ilmiah berupa hasil penelitian, hasil pemikiran (gagasan konseptual), serta hasil perancangan karya desain dan seni terapan (Applied Art) dalam ruang lingkup bidang desain dan seni rupa yang mencakup desain interior, desain produk, desain fashion, desain multimedia, desain komunikasi visual, fotografi, HAKI Desain, Hak Cipta Desain serta bidang perluasan yang ditujukan untuk mengembangkan bidang ilmu tersebut. Narada: Jurnal Desain dan Seni terbit sebanyak tiga kali dalam setahun, yakni pada bulan April, September, dan Desember. NARADA Jurnal Desain dan Seni menerima artikel yang ditulis menggunakan Bahasa Indonesia.

This study aims to determine the types of men's wallets along with items and what features are contained in the wallet. A wallet is a container that is used to store money or valuable cards. Along with the times and lifestyles, wallets come with various designs and features, but many wallets have changed because of the needs and development of payment technology, so users must be able to adjust wallet designs according to their needs. This study uses a qualitative method, the research method used to examine natural object conditions where the researcher is a key instrument, source and data sampling is done in a "purposive" and "snowball" technique, data collection techniques with triangulation (combined), Next, what the researchers do is interpret the results of the data analysis which will finally get a conclusion that contains the essence of all research data. The results showed that there are 5 types of men's wallets and each type of wallet has its own organizing functions and has a quick access feature.

Analysis of Character Presentation and Storyline in the Comic "Vulcaman-Z" aims to find out and identify visually how the presentation of characters and storylines in the comic Vulcaman-Z by Galang Tirtakusuma. This comic is a 4 point comic (yonkoma) or four panels, a slapstick action-comedy genre that is rarely found in the Indonesian comics industry. This comic also has several unique features such as the use of layouts, characters, colors, expressions, action lines, and word balloons. This research uses a descriptive qualitative method with interviews, literature study and observation data collection methods. The purpose of this research is the initial research conducted jointly with students to uncover several Indonesian comic artists' styles which later become a study of revealing comic styles from Indonesia. As we know that Indonesian comics are still very influential with foreign comics, both Japanese and American. The comic style possessed by Indonesia does not yet have own characteristics, although some comic artists have tried to express the identity of Indonesia through cultural ornaments and stories. But the presentation and style of comics are still using or the same as the style that is outside. Based on this, this research is present as an effort to discover the characteristics of Indonesia in Comics or to give an idea to Indonesian comic artists to present new style contributions to Comics.

Visualization is the expression of an idea or feeling by using pictures, writing (words and numbers), maps, graphics, and so on. Visualization of weaving motifs of early childhood results in the Baduy Tribe has varied patterns as a representation of the development of local children's creativity.The objective to be achieved in this study is to examine the visualization of weaving results of early childhood in the Baduy Tribe with qualitative methods with visual anthropology and semiotics approaches. This is very important to be studied to formulate the process of creativity of young children in learning to weave.The results of the study concluded that the development of children in terms of making motifs can be classified in stages, namely, children aged 2 years, 3 years, 3.5 years, 4 years, 5 years and 6 years. The difference is in terms of structure, weft and weaving technique, and the choice of thread color for a motif.These creative methods and processes in the future will be applied to early childhood learning systems, then the final results can be formulated and this research can be developed more broadly so that they can be used as a reference in other linear studies. The specific target to be achieved in this research is the publication of journals, as well as book chapters that can be used as scientific support books.

Autism sufferers have a disruption to social interaction, communication, imagination with repetitive behavior patterns and resistance (not easy to adjust) to the environment and routine in general. This disorder in social interaction issue causes autism sufferers to look strange and different from other people. Autistic sufferers must be given the widest opportunity to develop their potential by creating a special forum that aims to get special education for children with special needs such as autistic children. One form of therapy offered is one on one method. Designing the right layout and using the right furniture can provide an autistic child to be relaxed and comfortable to undergo the therapy and learning. Objectives to be achieved in the design of children’s autism desk is to help children and mentors carry out the therapeutic process by considering several factors namely safety, comfort, and optimization of the therapeutic process. In the process with the existing planning and design methods among them; Data collection, design concepts, design alternatives, design development of selected alternatives, and final design, the final result of the design of this autistic children’s desk is designed to function as well as a means of sensory and motor therapy of children

The toy product industry is currently stretching and becoming one of the major companies in the world. Those industries are still monopolized by developed countries. Developing countries such as Indonesia have the opportunity to participate in the competition of the toy product industry. The way to deal with the problem is by developing existing potential by utilizing existing local wisdom. Through research on local toys, it is expected to be an opportunity for the possibility of that competition. By using three phenomena in design is expected to open many changes for many new possibilities in the toy industry. The design phenomena are the basic needs tendency (Vitruvius Theory), social needs tendencies (Sir Henry Wotton's theory) and local wisdom tendencies (Viktor Papanek, Schulz and Y.B.Mangunwijaya's Theory). The theory is used to extract the values of basic needs, social needs and local wisdom that is typical of the toy in order to get the variables of the design requirements to be used in the development of scientific design, especially toy product design. The results of this study get about how the design fulfills its basic needs, fulfills its social needs and raises the value of its local wisdom.

Gempol is a type of wood that is widely used as a craft material. Because the nature of the material is not too hard, easy to form, easy to absorb the liquid dye, and not greasy, this wood is suitable to be processed with various techniques, including wooden batik. Because of its uniqueness, wooden batik has good potential to be developed in the craft industry. However, the technique used in the process of making wooden batik tends to be harmful to the environment, because it uses synthetic dyes. Natural dyes are rarely developed for wood batik because they are considered not good in terms of color quality and time efficiency. This study seeks to explore the use of natural dyes extract of jambal wood on gempol wood, through various types of mordants, coloring and mordanting methods, and coloring times. The research was carried out using an experimental method with the AHP method to obtain the ideal coloring method and material formulation.

Identity is a characteristic or to the repertoire of a place, which makes someone recall and wants to visit again where they are intended because it has differences with other places because it has character and uniqueness. Identity is a very important fundamental thing. This is because identity is something that is used to recognize, distinguish a place from another place Kevin Lynch, good city form (1984; 131). According to RI Minister of Home Affairs regulation No. 4 years old 1980, the City is a place that has administrative boundaries such as municipalities and administrative cities. The city also means an urban living environment that has non-agrarian characteristics, for example, the district capital, the capital of the sub-district which functions as the center of growth. One that has these characteristics is the city of Bandung, the city of Bandung is one place that has its own uniqueness and character, both in places of tourism, food, and other foods. One of the places visited by many local and foreign tourists in searching for souvenirs or souvenirs is Batik. One of the famous Batik venues in Bandung is Komar Batik, Batik Komar is one place that produces Batik with Bandung City motif. Therefore the author wants to examine the Bandung City motif made by Batik Komar with the theory of Kevin Linch so that the history of the Bandung Batik can be maintained. After producing the Bandung Batik analysis, it can be concluded that Batik Komar as a batik maker reflects the identity of Bandung City.

Flat-Pack furniture and interlocking systems are two terms that have very close links in today's modern furniture manufacturing industry. Where the combination of these two elements can provide many solutions in the creation of a versatile furniture product which is the focus of attention at this time. The self-sustained interlocking system as one of the elements in making flat-pack furniture has an essential function and significant influence in making a flat-pack furniture product that is not only multifunctional and ergonomic but also has a major role in producing environmentally friendly products. Since the invention of CNC router machine and laser cutting technology and the development of digital engineering software, this self-sustained interlocking system is known to be complex has developed very rapidly, and has produced many reconfigurable, multi-functional flat-pack furniture products with environmentally friendly characteristics at production costs makes sense.The research aims to review modern types of interlocking joints and try to explore and explore and find new approaches in making interlocking systems that are appropriate for Reconfigurable Flat Pack Furniture applications.

This research at some part was an overview of previous studies which is standardization of the form of air circulation in Bumi Adat Kampung Cikondang, Village Lamajang and had been published in proceeding Sinden 2018.Bumi Adat Cikondang as object research in the Village Lamajang is selected since there is only one traditional house left in this village and it has become the site of cultural heritage. Architecture of Bumi Adat is built around the 16th century, and currently is a part of tourism in West Java. The traditional house lost during the fire in 1942, and was not be built again because of local restriction believes as well as limited building material in the sacred woods. Bumi Adat is in total use of natural material, such as bamboo, wood and palm fibers.The use of natural materials for the whole building create the work that have been able to survive until now.Methods used in this research is a qualitative methodology with descriptive analysis supported by observation and study in the field and study in literature review.The aimed at this research is to describing the shape of the use of natural material until become traditional building.

Along with the development of technology and the world economy, the use of icons is often found in the creative industries. Icon application can be of various uses, ranging from application icons for devices, sign systems, software, road markings, and others. According to Van Leeuwen, iconography means "writing pictures", often refers to the activity of describing and classifying images. One of the uses of icons in the industrial world can be seen at the Asian Games & Asian Para Games 2018. The icons used at these events are used to represent each sport that is contested. Although it is an icon with the same type of sport, there are different depictions on these icons. This study aims to compare and determine the differences in the 2018 Asian Games & Asian Para Games sports icons, and see which icons can better represent the sport branches they are competing against.
