Abstract

The prevalence of hypertension is relatively high, and the number still increases by year. Various studies have demonstrated that non-pharmacological methods have been shown capable of lowering blood pressure such as relaxation techniques, and also slow breathing technique. This study aims to determine the effects of relaxation and slow breathing technique (RSBT) on blood pressure level among stage 1 hypertensive older adults. This study utilized quantitative research method and the research design employed in this study is the one group interrupted time series pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design. Two types of instruments were used in this study to gather the pertinent data and information. The researcher utilized the checklist form to record the result of observation. The researcher also utilized biophysiologic instrument to measure to measure the blood pressure level of the participants. The participants of the study were ten (10) male and ten (10) female older adults with stage 1 hypertension who were selected through purposive sampling technique. Repeated-Measures ANOVA and the Post Hoc test was utilizing series of t-test. The result shows that there is a significant difference in the systolic and diastolic blood pressure level among participants before and after the implementation of the RSBT in both initial phase (first week) and reinstituted phase (third week).  Prolonging of implementation of RBST would be more powerful to reduce blood pressure level among older adult with stage I hypertension.

Abstract

Mothers whose babies have problems and are cared for separately make mothers feel less confident about breastfeeding because they think about the health of their babies. Lack of confidence in breastfeeding is a factor in the failure to breastfeed. An instrument is needed to assess the breastfeeding process as a nurse's initial step to establish nursing interventions in nursing mothers. Objective: Apply the use of the LATCH instrument as an initial assessment of breastfeeding so that it can assist nurses in arranging nursing interventions. Methods: case study with implementation based on Evidence Based Nursing Practice: LATCH SCORE was applied to three nursing mothers in two hospital. Results: four breastfeeding mothers were assessed by LATCH SCORE and then intervention was carried out in the form of education and counseling for breastfeeding mothers. Conclusion: This intervention is very effective in assessing position and attachment during breastfeeding, thus helping nurses to tailor interventions according to the needs of the mother. Suggestion: it is hoped that the maternity nurse can carry out a LATCH SCORE assessment to assist in the assessment and arrange interventions according to the needs of nursing mothers.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to determine the influence of providing SADARI educational videos on the SADARI knowledge level. This research employs a quasi-experimental design, specifically a quantitative one-group pretest-posttest with a cross-sectional approach. Data analysis is conducted using the Wilcoxon test. The population in Kebonromo village comprises 153 adolescent female respondents, and the sample is selected through simple random sampling, involving 60 respondents. The pretest results indicate that one respondent has sufficient knowledge, while 59 respondents have insufficient knowledge. In the posttest, 47 respondents exhibit good knowledge, and 13 respondents have sufficient knowledge. Bivariate analysis using the Wilcoxon test reveals Asymp.Sig (2-tailed) with a significance value of 0.000. In conclusion, there is an influence of SADARI education with video on the SADARI knowledge level among adolescent girls in Kebonromo village, Ngrampal district, Sragen regency.

Abstract

Intravenous cannulation is one of the most commonly performed invasive procedures in clinical practice. Inserting a cannula into a vein is a routine procedure, which in some patients may none the less cause discomfort.  It can cause significant pain and also distress.  Valsalva maneuver is non-invasive, non-pharmacological and effective method to reduce pain.  The purpose of this literature review is to get an overview of the implementation of valsava manuever on Pain Reduction During IV Cannulation based on empirical studies in the last ten year. The method used in the search for articles is based on the period 2013-2022 through searches from databases such as Pubmed, Proquest, Ebsco, Sciencedirect, google scholar and CINAHL There were seven articles used for the review of this paper. The result indicate that valsava manuever effective in reducing the pain in patients undergoing intravenous cannulation. Valsalva maneuver can be incorporated by nurses as a measure of pain relief among patients receiving intravenous cannulation.

The results showed that the mean value of quality of life for the audio-visual media group before was 62.26 with SD 17.583 and after 70.26 with SD 16.441. Meanwhile, the mean value of quality of life for the leaflet group before was 61.60 with SD 19.336 and after 62.21 with SD 18.252. The results of statistical tests using the independent t-test showed that the difference in quality of life scores after being given treatment between the intervention group and the control group was p value 0.035 (<0.05). There is a significant influence between education on diabetes-friendly tips using audio-visual media compared to diabetes management education using leaflets in improving the quality of life of diabetes mellitus patients. It is hoped that this research can make educational videos on tips for being friendly with diabetes mellitus as a nursing intervention standard for patients with diabetes mellitus.

Abstract

Circulatory disorders are a health problem that often causes chronic pain and reduces quality of life. Leech therapy is a traditional method that has the potential to improve circulation and reduce pain through the natural anticoagulant effect of leech saliva. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of leech therapy in reducing pain in patients with circulatory disorders at Griya Sehat Muslimah Srengseng Kembangan, West Jakarta. This study was a quasi-experimental study with a pre-test and post-test approach in 12 patients with circulatory disorders. Each patient underwent leech therapy three times over two weeks. Pain intensity was measured before and after therapy using a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). The results showed a significant decrease in pain intensity after therapy. The average reduction in pain on the VAS scale was 3.7 points after three treatments, indicating that leech therapy is effective in reducing pain in patients with circulatory disorders. Leech therapy has been proven effective in reducing pain in patients with circulatory disorders. This therapy can be a non-pharmacological alternative for managing pain in patients with circulatory disorders

Abstract

Before menopause, a woman will experience premenopause, which is the beginning of biological, physiological changes and other clinical symptoms as the beginning of menopause and includes one year or the first twelve months after menopause. Physical changes due to decreased estrogen and progesterone production cause various symptoms, both related to reproductive organs and other body organs. Changes that occur during menopause also affect a woman's psychological state. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and anxiety in women approaching menopause at Posyandu Melati II, Jatibening Village. This study was quantitative with a cross-sectional design that aimed to determine the relationship between the level of knowledge and anxiety in premenopausal women. The sample in this study were women aged over 40 years and had not yet experienced menopause at Posyandu Melati II, Jatibening Village in 2018, Bekasi, obtained through total sampling. Of the 40 respondents, it was found that respondents with low knowledge experienced the most anxiety, as many as 13 people (46.4%). Respondents with high knowledge did not experience anxiety, as many as 1 person (8.3%). The data obtained indicates a relationship between knowledge and anxiety. Women at the Melati II Integrated Health Post (Posyandu) in Jatibening Village who are in premenopause need to gain more information about the signs and symptoms of menopause from reliable sources to help them navigate menopause effectively and without anxiety.
