Abstract

The Lee-Carter model, proposed in 1992, is one of the most well-known methodologies for modeling mortality rates. This model is known for its simplicity and has been used successfully in America, Japan, and Australia. Basically, the Lee-Carter model is a regression model. However, the independent variables are not given explicitly so an approximation is made. They proposed a singular value decomposition. Abstract

Problem based learning is a learning model that is currently widely used in all circles. such as teachers, lecturers and research students. For this reason, researchers chose problem-based learning as the topic of this meta research. There are several criteria for selecting articles, namely: Form of publication, location of research, time span of publication and available statistical information. Empirical data were obtained from published articles identified through computer literature searches using electronic databases such as ERIC https://eric.ed.gov/?journals), SAGE Publishing (https://us.sagepub.com/en-us/nam /journals), and Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.co.id/schhp?hl=id). In addition, manual searches were carried out through library sources. Of all the articles, there were 12 articles that met the predetermined criteria, then analysis was carried out using the website https://www.meta-mar.com/, to obtain a large combined effect size. The conclusion is that the use of the PBL model in mathematics learning is very strong and the use of the PBL model helps students in teaching to deepen PBL for learning purposes and PBL can also increase the effectiveness and influence of learning even better

Abstract

This study investigates the impact of the Think-Pair-Share (TPS) model. TPS, which involves individual thinking stages, partner collaboration, and idea exchange, is implemented as an innovative strategy for understanding mathematics. The aim of this research is to evaluate the extent to which the implementation of the TPS model influences student learning. The research method involves Meta-Analysis, where 40 studies were obtained from the search, and 10 studies were selected based on inclusion and exclusion criteria. Meta-Analysis is used to determine the combined effect size by analyzing the selected studies that applied the TPS model. The anticipated results of this study are expected to provide insights into the effectiveness of the TPS learning model. Therefore, this research contributes to the development of teaching methods focused on achieving optimal learning outcomes. This study indicates that the Random Effect (RE) Model size from the implementation of the TPS learning method in improving mathematical problem-solving skills is 0.81, classified as a moderate effect

Abstract

This research aims to conduct a meta-analysis of the influence of learning models on students' conceptual understanding, with a focus on the crucial factor of effect size. The meta-analysis encompasses a review of various journals and empirical studies previously conducted in the field of education. Data collection methods include the selection of studies based on specific criteria and the extraction of relevant data, including information on the learning models used and their effect sizes. The analysis results indicate significant variations in the impact of learning models on students' conceptual understanding, with effect size being the determining parameter. Various learning models, such as cooperative learning, project-based learning, and student-centered learning methods, have been identified and analyzed to measure their impact on students' conceptual understanding skills. Furthermore, this meta-analysis provides insights into the relationship between effect size and learning contexts, including examples such as educational levels, subjects, and study durations. These findings can serve as guidelines for developing more effective learning strategies, especially in efforts to enhance students' conceptual understanding

Abstract

This study aimed to conduct a meta-analysis of the application of Knisley's mathematical learning model and its impact on students' mathematics abilities. Research begins with formulating a research problem tracking the research results that are relevant for analysis. The data was collected by browsing the electronic journals through Google Scholar, a Garuda portal with the keywords "Knisley mathematical learning model" and "Mathematical ability". From the search, I obtained 86 articles, but relevant only 12 articles from journals that entered the inclusion criteria to be analyzed with the site meta-mar to obtain a large combination effect size. From the interpretation of the measurement of this combined effect, the overall application of the Knisley Model has a strong influence on the student's mathematical abilities. Characteristics of the study were researched in terms of education and years of research. From statistics, if the application of the Knisley Model to improve the ability of the student's mathematical reasoning is influenced by the level of education and years of research

Abstract

This research aims to overcome a problem in the field of mathematics by utilizing the concept of ethnomathematics, especially in terms of social arithmetic. Apart from that, this research can also be used as a mathematics learning resource that introduces Indonesian culture through the use of traditional food. This research is a type of qualitative descriptive research that uses an ethnographic approach as a research method. This research will use various methods such as interviews, observation, documentation and literature review to collect data. The researchers also collected secondary data, namely taking quotations from several journals as references. In data analysis, it can be concluded that of the two groups of cassava tapai traders studied, the first group experienced an increase in profits of 39.86% every day. If all the goods are sold, the second group will get a profit of 182.68% every day. So it can be concluded that the second group of cassava tapai traders received greater benefits than the first group of cassava tapai traders

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the validity, practicality and effectiveness of learning tools developed based on the discovery lerning model to improve the ability to understand concepts and mathematical dispositions of geoboard-assisted students. Researchers use the development method or R&D (research and development) with a 4-D model (four-D) developed by Thiagarajan, Semmel and Semmel. Which includes the process of define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. The subjects in this study were grade VII students of Al Manar Medan Private Junior High School. From the results of field trials, it can be concluded that: 1) learning devices that meet the validity criteria with a very valid predicate with each RPP average value is 4.61, Module is 4.56, and LAS is 4.58, 2) practical learning tools based on the validation results from the expert team have met the validity with a little revision and the results of interviews with students / users get positive responses,  3) meet the effectiveness criteria based on the results of the concept comprehension ability test meet classical completeness with a value of 86.36%, the results of teacher observations managing learning have been effective because of the increase from the first meeting to the last meeting, the results of achieving the ideal percentage of time interval are at the threshold of time tolerance of predetermined categories, and from the results of the mathematical disposition ability questionnaire it is concluded that all aspects get a positive response

Abstract

Malaria is a disease caused by protozoan infection of the Plasmodium genus, characterized by symptoms of alternating chills and prolonged fever. During the period of 2018-2022, the province of North Sumatra experienced an increase in malaria cases. This research aims to comprehend the spread of malaria cases in North Sumatra Province during that period through univariate analyses. This study uses secondary data obtained from the North Sumatra Provincial Health Office which includes the number of malaria cases. In the univariate analysis, the Moran's Index test revealed positive global spatial autocorrelation in 2021 and 2022, indicating inter-district/city connectivity and clustered patterns of malaria distribution in North Sumatra Province (I>E[I]). LISA analysis identified different clusters each year, but Hot Spots consistently occurred in Asahan Regency (2021-2022) and Batubara Regency (2022), while a Cold Spot persisted in South Tapanuli Regency for 3 years (2020-2022).

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the effect of population density, number of food stalls, and population on the number of homesteads using the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model. GWR modeling is carried out based on spatial data using secondary data sourced from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). First, multiple linear regression analysis was carried out to evaluate the relationship between variables. The results of multiple linear regression show that only the variable number of food stalls has a significant effect on the number of homesteads. Next, spatial aspects were tested, including spatial autocorrelation tests and spatial heterogeneity tests. Testing spatial aspects shows the existence of spatial autocorrelation and spatial heterogeneity in the data. Therefore, we continued with GWR modeling to obtain a more in-depth picture of the distribution of the number of homesteads in West Lombok Regency. The results of modeling with GWR show that the variables used have a spatially varying influence throughout the West Lombok Regency area. Mapping GWR results produces better modeling of the factors that influence the number of homesteads in each village. A comparison between the multiple linear regression model and the GWR shows that the GWR model is able to explain variations in the number of homesteads with a higher R-square and a smaller AIC value

Abstract

This research is an experimental study with research objectives: 1) to determine the influence of CORE learning models (connecting, organizing, Reflecting, extending) on the mathematical creative thinking skills of students. 2) to find out the influence of CORE learning models (connecting, organizing, Reflecting, extending) on the mathematical disposition of students. The entire research population of the students of the First High School (SMP) Private Al-Manar in Medan Johor. The research sample is a private junior high school student of Al-Manar Medan Johor class VIII who totaled 126 people. The research method used is experiments with the Pre Test and Post Test research design to determine the initial capabilities and end abilities of the students. Data collection using mathematical ability test instruments, critical thinking skills tests, and mathematical dispositioned cartoon sheets. Hypothesis test analysis technique uses test-t paired. The results of the study are: 1) There is an influence of CORE learning model (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) on students’ creative thinking skills. This is in line with the hypothesis test results where t calculate > t table 3, 84 > 2.01 with Ho test criteria rejected and Ha accepted. 2) There is an influence of CORE learning model (Connecting, Organizing, Reflecting, Extending) on student mathematical disposition. This is in line with the hypothesis test results where t calculate > t table is 3, 95 > 2.01 with Ho test criteria rejected and Ha accepted. From the results of the analysis obtained findings that there are differences in mathematical learning outcomes with students taught through CORE learning models with learners taught through conventional learning models, as well as learning outcomes taught by CORE learning models higher than learners taught by conventional learning models
