Abstract

Geothermal energy is a naturally occurring energy resource widely distributed in Indonesia. By 2025, the Indonesian government is expecting a rise in renewable energy installations to supply energy demand within the country. With 1,945 MW of installed capacity reported in 2017, the electricity production from geothermal power plant are expected to meet such electricity demand. Indonesia holds a large potential in geothermal energy with the possibility to meet the energy demand due to population growth. However, geothermal energy faces a challenge when competing with national LCOE. The role of government to create policy and stakeholder to provide technical aids are vital to attract investors to develop environmentally friendly and sustainable geothermal energy.

Abstract

One of the urgent environmental issues that are encountered by densely populated cities today is climate change and Urban Heat Island (UHI) which are increasing significantly. In the development of outdoor spaces or urban public spaces, there are environmental issues that affect the comfort of human activities. Meteorological, physiological, and psychological parameters affect the thermal comfort of humans doing their activities outdoors. Walking as one of the outdoor activities, in terms of urban design, there is not much mention of climate factors in identifying the success of outdoor space design. Walkability, the comfort level of walking is one of the parameters that many researchers discuss in the context of activity studies related to outdoor activities. This study aims to further review the development of literature relating to the urban microclimate, thermal comfort to walkability, especially in high-density tropical cities.

Therefore, this study aims to analyze the factors that support Turkey's policy on purchasing S-400.This research is a descriptive research through internet-based literature.Turkey's policy in purchasing S-400 analyzed using the concepts of Arms, Alliances and Security Tradeoffs proposed by James D. Morrow. James stated that there are three factors that influence the state to conduct arming; economic & military technological factors, the lack of alliances effectiveness and differences in national interests between alliances. This study found that all of these factors occurred in the conditions of Turkey and NATO. With fulfillment of these three factors, Turkey chose to do arming instead of alliancing in facing national threat

Abstract

December 2019 marks a change in the perception of security itself because the enemy is invisible in the form of a virus that can endanger human survival. In this article, the author wants to discuss changes in the perception of "threat" in security from a "visible" threat to an "invisible" threat. Library research was used by the author in this article. The author uses three concepts as the development of security, namely traditional security concept, non-traditional security concept, and national security concept to analyze the case. The findings show that invisible threat in the form of virus or pandemic does not need military readiness as in traditional security. It rather needs a good healthcare system as part of the national resilience of a country in facing threat.

Abstract

The rise of Japan after the defeat in World War II became the center of world admiration, including us in Indonesia. Human resources development through education has become the main key to the success of Japan. This certainly can be a reference for us in formulating human resources development policies in the future. We often feel amazed at the seriousness of the Japanese government in dealing with education problems. However, we also tend to ignore various facts related to it. For example, after the defeat of the war, Japanese academics and bureaucrats immediately conducted introspection and research to find out the cause of the defeat. From the results of this research, it was concluded that there were fatal errors in education policies and philosophies so far; departing from this understanding, a significant revision of the education law was immediately carried out. In other words, the Japanese government not only pays attention to education but they also completely overhaul educational policies. Japan lost the war against the United States. Consequently, for the following 7 years, 1945-1952, Japan was occupied by the United States of America, who had ordered Japan to change all policies, including educational policies. In this paper, we will look at what changes in the philosophical foundation and policy changes, as well as how the discussion process until the formulation and enactment of several new education laws, and what criticisms and expectations are implied in the education law.
