Abstract

Chitosan is derived from dry shrimp shell that has been demineralized, deprotei-nized, and deacetylized to remove the mineral, protein, and the acetyl group. Chitosan can be used as a food preservative. The aim of this study is to optain the effect of processing time, temperature, solvent volume, and concentration of NaOH in the deacetylation process.In this experiment, the shrimp shell powder had water content and ash content of 5.73% and 29%, respectively. Deproteinization process used a solution of NaOH 5%, processing temperature of 100ºC, and processing time about 2 hours. The process of demineralization used 1N HCl solution, temperature process of 80ºC, and processing time 1 hour. In the deacetylation with fixed variable at at 300 mL of solution of NaOH 40% as a solvent and temperature of 1100C, the relatively good condition of the process is obtained at the processing time of 3 hours. In the experiment with the volume of solvent as a variable, chitosan with optimum of ash content and solution viscosity is reached at the volume of solvent about 300mL. In the experiment with the process temperature are 100ºC and 140ºC, and with the dependent variable, i.e volume of solvent, processing temperature, and concentration of NaOH solution are 300mL, 3 hours, and 40%, respectively, the chitosan with good ash content and viscosity under 200 millipoise is obtained at a temperature of 110°C. In these experiments, chitosan with optimum ash content and viscosity of 1.06% and 175.36 millipoise, respectively, is obtained at processing time, solvent volume, processing temperature, and NaOH concentration at the value of 3 hours, 300 mL, 1100C, and 40%, respectively. The chitosan with optimum characteristics is applied as a coating of tomatoes and grapes. The results shows that the fruits which are dipped into the chitosan solution have a longer lifetime than fruits without preservatives or coated with 1% acetic acid solution.

Abstract

Transmission line needs to make expansion planning to anticipate the load growing every year to avoid over load or bad voltage profile (out the voltage tolerance above 0,95 pu -1,05 pu from base voltage). The analysis of expansion planning is use simulation with PSAT software with assume load growing 10 % every years from preview year. If the line current in transmission has over load, the expansion planning that have to do is adding the line capacity or replacing line cable type. If the voltage profile has badly, the expansion planning that have to do is adding the STATCOM to bus that have problem. The result of analysis the expansion planning of transmission line in UPT Jember for duration 10 years are expansion planning of transmission line in fourth, fifth, eight and tenth years. In ten years also need to adding the STATCOM in Tanggul substation. The estimation of total infestations to cover load growing during 10 years is $3.458.018.86.

Abstract

Composite material especially with fiber reinforcement starts growing rapidly with existence of requirement of light and strong material. Beside that, it is easy to be formed and resistant to corrosion. In this last decade, composite material using natural fiber has been implemented by the European automobile producers. Based on those considera-tions research about composite using kenaf fiber as reinforcement material big strength of mechanic for each varation. (1) Kenaf fiber without cleaning, (2) Kenaf fiber with soaking in NaOH for an hour,(3) Kenaf fiber with soaking in NaOH for two hours and with material matrix polyester.Based on the calculation and experimental analysis soaking in NaOH and bedding of Acrylic increase the mechanical properties. So composite resin polyester as matrix with treatment is much better than without treatment.

Abstract

“Buruh Gendong” women in Bringharjo market Yogyakarta, still carry loads on their back physically and use manual big basket and shawl. When they carry loads on their back unnaturally, their body postures are too hunchbacked, their heads are bent down and their arms are up-and-down, etc. The performance of the women is not so ergonomic that can makes them have injury. Therefore, it is important to evaluate how to minimize the risk of work accident. Ergonomic evaluation with physiology approach and Quick Exposure Check Method are the methods that can know how much the loads of the labor is and how many risk of injury by evaluating pulse and body posture when they work. Based on the research of “buruh gendong”, it can be obtained (1) load that was carried on back by the labor around 50 – 100 kgs. It means that the load is overstep than load limit suggested load limit around 10-16 kgs, (2) work load classification based on pulse is high work load, (3) means of energy needed by the labor is 5.15182 kcal/minutes that is overstep standard 4 kcal/minutes, (4) total score of observer is 162 and total score of worker evaluation is 26 are classified as action level 4 which evaluation observed and changed at that time. The conclusion of this research is that “buruh gendong” women working in Bringharjo market tends to have injury risk. Therefore, it is suggested to design ergonomic work system by considering characteristics of work, worker, material, and work management.

Abstract

Found the problem when doing coding to build a web-based application. To speed up the work, web developer typically uses some code from previous projects, especially for the part related to databases, frame systems, and security systems. If there is weakness of unknown code on the previous project, the weakness will be downgraded to the next project. To overcome these problems, most IT companies now use a web framework for web development because it offers many advantages compared to when writing code from scratch. Web framework has several advantages such as having a pattern MVC or Model-View-Controller. One of the web framework that supports the MVC pattern is CodeIgniter. However, using the MVC pattern alone is not sufficient, to produce a modular program needs to be applied Hierarchical MVC pattern with the addition of Modular Extension in CodeIgniter as did developers BackendPro is a freely licensed applications that provide functionality to perform all the simple tasks usually done over and over re-engineering project in the web such as authentication, permissions, and control panels. In this research will be reviewed as a basis for utilization BackendPro early in the development of web-based applications. The study showed the steps to build a simple application into a web framework using BackendPro and benefits to be gained when developing web applications using a web framework.

By analyzing calculation result of linear programming than continued result enter in to fuzzy multi-objective method so to getted optimum product combination base on tolerance of company hoped. Result of research base on fuzzy multiobjective optimization method have got product combination they are rayon 40/1 1601,299 cone with profit Rp. 18170740,4 and waste 118,49 kg. By applying fuzzy multi-objective optimization can reduce waste 8,68 kg.

Abstract

The ethanol and methanol are derivative compound of alcohol with 115 and 111 octane number, respectively.The blend of both to premium to descrease of their octane number. This research of premium ethanol fuel with 80% premium-20% ethanol composition and premium methanol fuel with 77% premium-23%methanol composition also biopremium Pertamina with 95% premium-5%ethanol composition. The aim of this research to know the performance of engine (torque, power, mean effectif pressure, fuel conversion efficiency), and also emission of exhaust gas (CO,CO2, HC, and O2). The experiment device is Honda Grang C100 motorccle with Twin Chassis Dynamometer methode on variable velocity, 4000 rpm, 5000 rpm, 6000 rpm,7000 rpm, 8000 rpm, and 9000 rpm respectively. The result and calculated of this research indicated that torque, power, mean effectif pressure, and fuel conversion efficiency on the mixed of premium-ethanol 5.71%, 4.91%, 9,58% higher then premium fuel,respectively. The consumption of premium-ethanol mixed fuel 9.1% less then premium fuel. The premium-methanol mixed used indicated that CO (carbon monoxyde) 52.56% less, CO2 (carbon dioxide) 27,82% higher, O2 (oxygen) 11.87% less, then premium fuel used, respectively. Used of biopremium Pertamina fuel indicated that HC (hydrocarbon) 29.78% less then premium fuel.

Abstract

At Singapadu Tengah village, sub-district of Sukawati, Gianyar regency is outskirt village with the distance around 10 km from Denpasar city. Since the year 1989, this village has started improving through blossom out of Singapadu Induk village. Site function changes Singapadu Tengah village from agricultural land becomes industrial function and settlement that significantly increases every year. The year of 1990 up to 1995 site function changes around 658 m2 per year, the year 1995 until the year of 2000 reaches 1,09 Ha per year, while in the year of 2000 up to 2005 reaches 1,67 Ha per year. This site function change has caused among others 1) high migration current come to Bali in this time has spread to village area in Bali; 2) arrangement of development distribution by the government has not been yet assertive; 3) the low value of the agricultural product selling, and the agricultural land tax is up; 4) as a result of irrigation system that chage into the connected irigation channel; and 5) consumerism. Through total approach in the ergonomic scope, it is expected to improve the condition of agriculture that is more and more depressed effect as the result from influences of site function change. SHIP (Systematical, Holistic, Interdisciplinary and Participatory) approach as part of total approach is one of the way to maintain function of agricultural land as a sector capable to support public economics in Bali.

Abstract

Bond Energy Algorithm (BEA) is a method that used in this group technology. This method is used for analyzing and for group is machine-part into manufacture cell. Euclidean distance is used for measuring material handling distance. BEA method becomes a model on stating the expense. The choice is done with performance measure calculation. Based or grouping result using Bond Energy Algoritm method produce five manufacture cell, they are cell 1 from machine 1 and part 14-12, cell 2 from machine 2-3-8-9 and part 4-11-13, cell 3 from machine 4 and part 10-1, and cell 4 from machine 5 and part 6-2. Cell 5 machine 7-6 and part 5-3-9-7-8. The result of material handling distance measurement is 220.97 meters with material handling cost Rp 12,245,832.57 per month. Based on the result of group technology lay out produce or yield material handling cost that can be used as new alternative on designing lay out.

Abstract

Woodworking industries is one of the funding resources of Indonesia. Mechanization was done but less awareness of occupational safety and health, so there were still high risk of occupational accidents and diseases. One of the main problems was man-machine interaction. Research was conducted at the woodworking workshop Bali State Polytechnic with 13 students as participants. It was a participatory research with one group pre and post test design. Result showed that the clearance among machines was about 1.2 – 1.5 m, while the shoulder width and the distance of spreading arms’ participants were 0.52 m and 1.825 m (percentile-95). The terminal blade of radial saw was 30.5 cm out of reach limit (percentile-5). In addition, the terminal ankle blade of drilling machine was 36.5 cm out of reach limit (percentile-5). Participants got complains for the right shoulder (76.92%), left shoulder (69.23%), the right and left hips (61.54%) and low back (53.85%). In similarities, 54.62% of participants got weakened activities, 44.62% got weakened motivation and 68.46% got physically fatigue. In conclusion, the man-machine interaction was not harmony and caused musculoskeletal complain and fatigue. It is needed the improvement of work condition to protect the workers’ safety and health.
