Zmart program is a micro retail shop empowerment program using zakat funds to alleviate poverty, especially in urban areas. This research examines the impact of Zmart program on poverty alleviation and women empowerment. The general poverty indicators based on poverty line and had kifayah standard show that the number of poverty decreases after Zmart intervention. In addition, the impact of Zmart also measured using BAZNAS Prosperity Index (BPI) with a score of 0.68, meaning Zmart has a good impact on its recipient. The Gender Development Index (GDI) in the Zmart program shows an increasing value from 75.97 to 139.32. It means that there is significant emancipation for the female group compared to the male group in the program. These results show that the Zmart program favorably empowers women as it is shown that the GDI value exceeds 100 points.

This study aims to examine the relationship between opportunistic behavior, monitoring mechanisms, and financial distress on earnings management. The population of this study is 796 companies listed in the Indonesia Stock Exchange year 2015-2019. Fourty three sample companies were selected using purposive sampling method, resulting 215 firm-year observation data. Using ordinary least square (OLS) regression as the main data analysis, the study observed that monitoring mechanism variable proxied by leverage has a positive effect on earnings management. However, there is no correlation between opportunistic behavior proxied by free cash flow and profitability as well as financial distress proxied by Altman Z-Score on earnings management. A robustness test using additional data of the samples companies during the COVID-19 pandemic was carried out. The test provides evidence that the results of this study's are robust. This study contributes empirically to the literature on the relationship between opportunistic behavior using free cash flow and profitability proxies, monitoring mechanisms using leverage, financial distress, and earnings management. It also provides valuable information for stakeholders to observe the quality of firm’s financial statements.

This study examines whether job insecurity among auditors who work at a public accounting firm in Jakarta associates with their turnover intention and whether subjective well-being and proactive personality have a moderating effect. The data of the study were collected from a web-based questionnaire that amounted to 166 auditors in Jakarta, Indonesia, and used the SEM-PLS approach in testing the hypotheses. This study found that job insecurity has a positive relationship with turnover intention as well as a proactive personality relationship with turnover intention. This study found a negative relationship between subjective well-being and turnover intention. However, the moderating effect of subjective well-being and proactive personality was not proven in this study. Therefore, future studies are recommended to explore external turnover and test the construct in different fields or areas to get more significant results.

This study examines the effect of free cash flow and financial distress on earnings management. In addition, this study also examines the role of the independent commissioner as a moderator in the relationship between the independent and dependent variables. The research data is obtained from the financial statements of transportation sub-sector companies in Indonesia listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) for 2018-2020. Based on the purposive sampling method, the final samples used in this study amounted to 87 observations. This study concludes that free cash flow is negatively associated with earnings management, while financial distress is positively associated with earnings management. This study also finds that independent commissioners strengthen the negative effect of free cash flow on earnings management, and independent commissioners weaken the positive effect of financial distress on earnings management. This study indicates that the Financial Services Authority (OJK) needs to carry out supervision and improvement related to the provisions on the recruitment of independent commissioners to improve corporate governance and investor protection.

This study aims to analyze the role of financial management in mediating the impact of the love of money and human resource competence on MSMEs’ performance. It used primary data gathered from 143 respondents through a direct survey. The respondents were the owners of culinary MSMEs in the City of Jambi that were selected based on a cluster sampling method to represent all types of culinary MSMEs. Six hypotheses were formulated to achieve the aim of the study. Path analysis based on multiple regression and Sobel tests were applied to test the hypotheses. The analysis results show that human resource competence affects financial management and impacts MSMEs’ performance directly and indirectly. On the other hand, love of money did not impact financial management. It did not impact MSMEs’ performance either directly or indirectly. Thus, this study provides a piece of evidence for financial management as a mediating variable between human resources competence and MSMEs’ performance.

The hotel industry is rapidly expanding, needing more employees. The high demand for employees may lead to tighter competition in the job market, increasing employee turnover. This study aims to provide statistical evidence about the role of job stress, job insecurity, and compensation in explaining turnover intention among hotel employees. Primary data related to hotel employees' perceptions were collected using an online survey. The survey involved 135 employees of Jakarta's five-star hotels. The data were analyzed using Partial Least Square Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM) to test three research hypotheses. The analysis results show that job stress and job insecurity positively relate to turnover intention in the hotel industry, whereas compensation is negatively associated with turnover intention. The finding could provide insight for hotel managers on reducing employee turnover. It also contributes to the upward literature on the hospitality and tourism industry.

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted business activities, including the banking industry. The Indonesian State Bank (BNI) might face the same challenges as other banks. However, as a well-established red plate bank, the dynamic of this bank needs to be further investigated to show how the pandemic affects its financial performance. The main objective of this study is to provide empirical evidence on whether the COVID-19 pandemic affects the financial performance of the red plate bank. In doing so, the current researchers conducted a comparative analysis using paired sample t-tests. Time series data based on BNI's quarterly financial reports from the first quarter of 2017 to the fourth quarter of 2022 were collected through documentation. The data were partitioned into two groups, which were data before the pandemic and during the pandemic. The paired sample t-test results show that, in general, there is no statistical difference in BNI's financial performance before and during the pandemic. The finding confirmed that, as a red plate bank, BNI is a well-established bank with a sound financial state regardless of the pandemic.

The downward movement of some Indonesian state-owned companies during the pandemic because of financial problems has resulted in more public scrutiny of the companies. Managers need to take extra caution to prevent the occurrence of financial distress. This study investigated the role of managerial ownership, gender diversity, and intellectual capital in predicting financial distress in state-owned companies. In doing so, three research hypotheses were formulated. Based on the purposive sampling method, 19 state-owned companies in the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) were selected as the research sample. Secondary data from each company's annual report from 2017 to 2020 were documented, resulting in 76 firm-year data as the final sample. The panel data regression was applied to test the hypotheses. A robustness test was also carried out to check the result's consistency. The study reports that intellectual capital had a positive impact in predicting financial distress, while managerial ownership and gender diversity did not affect it. These results may provide insight for managers of state-owned companies to prevent financial distress earlier by increasing their intellectual capital.

This research aims to determine the response of the Indonesian market to the announcement of CSR information. The Indonesian government has issued regulations regarding the implementation of CSR for companies in Indonesia. The study explores whether the Indonesian market incorporates CSR information into investment decisions. This research examines the market response to CSR information by conducting an event study on company announcements in the SRI KEHATI Index. Investments in companies listed in the SRI KEHATI Index are known as Green Investment. The market response is measured using the abnormal return value of Green Investment. The estimation window used in this research is five days before the announcement and five days after the announcement. The research results show that the Indonesian market has not fully considered CSR activities in investment decisions. Company sustainability factors such as CSR activities have not become the primary concern for Indonesian investors. This study contributes to the existing literature by providing empirical evidence on the market’s reaction to CSR announcements in Indonesia, where CSR is increasingly emphasized. By concentrating on SRI KEHATI index companies, the research offers valuable insights into the valuation of Green Investment.

This study aims to reveal and comprehend the metaphorical meaning of the cash balance for mosque. This research conducted using a phenomenological approach that explores information as it is from managers through interviews, interactions, and researcher observations as well as visual documentation. Data processing, analysis, and discussion are carried out by researchers using a worksheet for the phenomenological analysis stage. The findings are discussed by critically confirming the related accounting concepts and previous research findings. The metaphorical meaning of the cash balance that can be extracted from the source is the cash balance as a trust, as programs evidence and as a beneficial evidence. This metaphorical meaning demands that managers manage mosque funds with the spirit of providing prosperity to society and the community, with faith in Allah and by inviting congregants to contribute to each other. In a broader sense, this metaphorical meaning indicates the embodiment of the manager's role and the functioning of the mosque beyond just a place of worship. The mosque has been made to function as a center for increasing the capacity of society through study and obtaining a sanad as well as a center for empowering benefits. This study contributes to find other meanings of cash balances outside the materialistic perspective that requires high cash balances as one of the mosque management performance indicators.
