Abstract

Social media has evolved into a key space for creating and strengthening the global dominance of K-Pop culture. This study examines the role of digital content and technology innovation in strengthening K-Pop's influence through active engagement between the entertainment industry, digital platforms, and fans. By utilizing algorithms from platforms such as YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X (Twitter), and digital media such as Weverse and bubble, the K-Pop industry not only distributes content widely but also builds a participatory ecosystem that encourages fans to engage in the process of content production, distribution, and promotion. This phenomenon shows that fans are no longer passive but have become a key element in expanding the influence of K-Pop culture through practices such as fanbase organization, fan translations, and viral challenges. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach and digital ethnography to analyze K-Pop's dominance on social media, identify the role of content in shaping fandom, and examine the impact of technology on fan interactions. The research findings indicate that K-Pop's dominance on social media is not only built on the quality of cultural products, but also through the use of digital technology that supports content personalization, accelerated information dissemination, and the formation of collective identity among fans. Thus, social media acts as a complex hegemonic space, a place where cultural power is negotiated between producers and consumers in the evolving digital ecosystem.

Abstract

This study examines the implementation of media monitoring conducted by the Protocol and Leadership Communication Division (Prokopim) of the Bandung City Regional Secretariat in managing public perceptions regarding traffic congestion issues in Bandung City. The study aims to analyze the stages of media monitoring carried out by Prokopim, including planning, data collection, data visualization, data analysis, and reporting. This research employed a descriptive qualitative approach through participatory observation, structured interviews, and literature study. The findings indicate that media monitoring plays a strategic role in identifying public sentiment, mapping issue developments, and formulating evidence-based communication strategies for local government leaders. Through monitoring mass media and social media, Prokopim was able to identify public concerns, criticisms, and support related to transportation policies and traffic management in Bandung. The results of media monitoring were subsequently used to develop communication recommendations, public information strategies, and issue management approaches aimed at maintaining public trust in the government. Although the monitoring process is still conducted manually and has not fully utilized digital analytic tools, media monitoring has functioned as an important communication intelligence instrument in supporting government public relations activities.

Abstract

The limited involvement of rural youth in aquaculture management poses a significant challenge to the sustainability of fisheries human resource development within the Smart Fisheries Village (SFV) program. This study aims to examine the extent of youth engagement in aquaculture management, identify the factors influencing their participation, and formulate a development communication strategy model to support the sustainable regeneration of fisheries human resources. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach within a constructivist paradigm. Data were collected through participant observation, in-depth interviews with SFV managers, fisheries extension officers, senior aquaculture practitioners, and rural youth, as well as document analysis. The findings indicate that youth engagement remains largely passive and is primarily concentrated at the operational level, with limited involvement in planning and decision-making processes. Low participation is influenced by interconnected psychological, structural, socio-cultural, and intergenerational communication factors. Conversely, institutional support, fisheries-based business diversification, community social capital, and women’s participation contribute positively to program sustainability. Based on these findings, the study proposes a development communication strategy model consisting of experiential communication, role-model communication, hybrid communication, collaborative communication, and inclusive communication. This model is expected to strengthen youth engagement, support fisheries workforce regeneration, and enhance the sustainability of fisheries-based rural development.

Abstract

This study specifically examines how the public speaking strategies used by three Indonesian female figures, Najwa Shihab, Sri Mulyani Indrawati, and Retno Marsudi, generated strong credibility and public trust in different communication domains during the period 2020–2025. Using an instrumental qualitative case study approach with cross-case analysis, this study analyzed 47 documented public communication events including 18 interview episodes (Najwa Shihab), 16 press conferences and policy speeches (Sri Mulyani Indrawati), and 13 diplomatic speeches (Retno Marsudi) triangulated with academic literature and public trust survey data. Based on Source Credibility Theory (Hovland & Weiss, 1951; McCroskey, 2006), Narrative Paradigm (Fisher, 1984), and Authentic Leadership Communication (Northouse, 2021), this study found that the effectiveness of female public speaking in building credibility and public trust is determined by four pillars that work integratively: (1) demonstrated professional competence, (2) consistent communication that builds integrity, (3) social empathy that creates emotional resonance, and (4) authenticity that strengthens value trust. Based on the synthesis of findings, this study proposes the PSCT Framework (Public Speaking Credibility Trust) as a conceptual model that explains credibility as a mediating variable between public speaking strategies and the formation of sustainable public trust, with moderating factors of gender and the digital media environment.

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the alignment of the media monitoring workflow at the Protocol and Leadership Communication Section (Prokopim) of the Bandung City Regional Secretariat with national standards in managing the issue of waste accumulation. The research method employed is descriptive qualitative with a post-positivism approach, utilizing data collection techniques such as participatory observation and structured interviews with the issue analysis team. The findings indicate that Prokopim has successfully implemented media monitoring as a strategic communication management and early warning instrument to mitigate leadership reputation crises. However, an in-depth analysis reveals significant methodological gaps compared to the Media Monitoring Guidelines for Government Public Relations Activities. These gaps include the absence of standardized operational parameters—such as defined keywords, units of analysis, and coding protocols—leaving data screening heavily reliant on manual processes and personnel subjectivity. Furthermore, cross-sectoral coordination under the "one voice policy" with technical regional apparatuses remains suboptimal, hindering the direct conversion of report recommendations into field solutions. This study concludes that standardizing analysis parameters, adopting artificial intelligence (AI) tools, and integrating crosssectoral responses are critical keys for local government public relations to manage public issues objectively and accurately.

Abstract

The availability of forage in terms of quantity and quality is a major limiting factor in the success of ruminant livestock production. This study aimed to analyze the effect of applying various types of manure (cow, chicken, and pig) and to determine the type of organic fertilizer that provides the best vegetative growth response on Dwarf Elephant Grass (Pennisetum purpureum cv. Mott). This experimental study was conducted for 6 weeks at the Animal Husbandry Study Program Workshop, Universitas Pertahanan RI, using a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with 4 treatments and 6 replications. The treatments tested included P0 (Control/Without Fertilizer), P1 (Cow Manure 500 g/polybag), P2 (Chicken Manure 500 g/polybag), and P3 (Pig Manure 500 g/polybag). The parameters observed were shoot height, number of shoots, leaf width, and leaf length. Data were analyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and continued with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of all types of manure significantly (p< 0.05) increased the vegetative growth performance of dwarf elephant grass compared to the control. Treatment P2 (Chicken Manure) consistently produced optimal growth with an average shoot height of 35.93 cm, number of shoots of 4.80, leaf width of 2.02 cm, and leaf length of 28.12 cm at the end of the observation. It is concluded that the use of chicken manure provides the best effectiveness in accelerating the early vegetative phase of dwarf elephant grass in the Belu region.

Abstract

Waste management has become one of the most pressing environmental challenges due to the increasing volume of waste and the limited public awareness of proper waste segregation. The inability to distinguish between organic and inorganic waste often reduces the effectiveness of recycling and sustainable waste management practices. This study aims to develop an automatic image classification system based on the Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) method to identify organic and inorganic waste from digital images. The dataset consists of 25,077 images collected from publicly available sources and self-collected data, which were divided into 90% training data and 10% testing data. Before model training, the images underwent preprocessing techniques, including resizing, normalization, and data augmentation, to improve model performance and generalization. The CNN model was developed using the TensorFlow framework and achieved a training accuracy of 93.08% at the ninth epoch. Furthermore, the trained model was integrated into a Flask-based web application, enabling users to upload waste images and instantly receive classification results. The findings demonstrate that the proposed CNN-based system effectively classifies organic and inorganic waste images and has the potential to support intelligent waste management systems by improving the efficiency and accuracy of waste sorting. This research also highlights the applicability of deep learning techniques in addressing environmental issues through automated image recognition technology.
