Abstract

This study aims to analyze the meaning of the hadith of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) concerning four factors considered in choosing a spouse: wealth, lineage, beauty, and religion. This research employs a qualitative approach using a library research method and the ma' ani al- ḥadīth analysis to examine both the textual and contextual meanings of the hadith. The findings indicate that the mention of these four factors in the hadith is descriptive of the social realities of society rather than a normative sequence that must be followed. The Prophet Muhammad explicitly directed Muslims to prioritize religious commitment as the primary criterion in selecting a life partner. The study demonstrates that religion and moral character serve as the fundamental foundation for building a harmonious and sustainable household. Academically, this research contributes to strengthening the contextual understanding of hadith and highlights its relevance in addressing the growing tendencies of materialism in contemporary marriage culture.

Abstract

The phenomenon of baby blues is a psychological condition commonly experienced by mothers after childbirth, characterized by feelings of sadness, anxiety, irritability, and emotional exhaustion. This article aims to examine the baby blues phenomenon from the perspective of the Qur'an by analyzing the story of Maryam in Surah Maryam, verses 16–26. The study employs a thematic interpretation (tafsir maudhū'ī) combined with a religious-psychological approach to explore the meaning and psychological relevance of Maryam's story in relation to the mental health conditions of contemporary mothers. The findings indicate that Maryam experienced severe psychological pressure during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period, as reflected in her verbal and emotional expressions. The Qur'an, through this narrative, conveys significant messages about empathy, spiritual support, and the importance of social assistance for women undergoing psychological distress after giving birth. This study contributes to the discourse on Islamic psychology by proposing a Qur'anic-based reflective framework that integrates spiritual, emotional, and social dimensions in addressing maternal mental health.

Abstract

This study was motivated by the conventional, teacher-centred approach to teaching Fiqh, which has yet to integrate ecological awareness and optimal use of digital technology. The aim of the study was to develop a Fiqh teaching design based on eco-theological integration and digitalisation at MIN 4 Pontianak Timur that is relevant to the challenges of the 21st century. The research used the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation) development model. The research subjects included 44 fifth-grade students and three expert validators. The results of the study show that the developed learning design achieved a feasibility level of 80.21% from expert validation and a student response of 79.85%, including the categories ‘Feasible’ and ‘Good’. From the results of observations and tests, there was a proven increase in students' understanding of Fiqh concepts and the growth of environmental awareness. The novelty of this research lies in the systematic integration of eco-theological values with digital technology in Fiqh learning, creating more contextual and meaningful learning. The implications of this research provide practical contributions for Islamic Education teachers in designing innovative learning that develops students' cognitive, affective, and environmental awareness competencies holistically

Abstract

This article examines the epistemological relationship between human reason (ʿaql) and revelation in Islamic thought, addressing the ongoing tension between rational autonomy and textual authority in contemporary interpretations. While existing studies often treat reason and revelation in isolation or as competing sources of knowledge, this study seeks to clarify how classical Islamic intellectual traditions conceptualize their relationship in an integrated and systematic manner. The study aims to analyze how major disciplines—particularly kalām (theology), uṣūl al-fiqh (legal theory), Qur’anic exegesis (tafsīr), and Islamic philosophy (falsafah)—define the function, scope, and limits of reason in relation to revelation. To achieve this, the research employs a qualitative library-based method, drawing on primary classical texts and supported by contemporary scholarly literature. The findings demonstrate that reason is consistently regarded as an essential epistemic instrument that enables moral responsibility, interpretive reasoning, and doctrinal articulation. However, its operation is normatively bounded, especially in matters related to metaphysics, the unseen, and definitive (qaṭʿī) texts. This study contributes to the field of Islamic epistemology by proposing a hierarchical–integrative model in which reason functions as a necessary yet subordinate instrument under the normative authority of revelation.
