Abstract

Parameter estimation for the elimination and absorption rate constants is performed in a pharmacokinetic model, where a drug is administered orally. Some methods have been introduced to estimate these parameters but without comparison which one gives better estimates. Here, two different methods are used for comparison in estimating the absorption rate constant: the Wagner-Nelson and residual methods. The Wagner-Nelson method requiring fewer data sets while the residual method uses all available data sets for estimation. For the elimination rate constant estimate, we use only the least square error method. Simulations are conducted using sample data points of Theophylline drug concentration that varies over time to estimate the parameters. These parameter values are then utilized to approximate the drug concentration over time, using both methods. These approximations are then compared with the actual data sets to see and calculate the error values so that the best method can be determined. The comparison shows that the residual method provides better approximation since this method utilizes the entire sample data points, while the Wagner-Nelson uses only the data in the beginning time, that is when the absorption process is dominant.

Abstract

Abstract

Medical research and therapeutic interventions continue to evolve, and one interesting area of study is the complex interaction among virotherapy, chemotherapy, and the immune system. Each treatment has its own advantages and disadvantages. In this study, a mathematical model was developed to describe how the immune system, tumor cells, and normal cells interact when all three types of therapy are used to treat cancer patients. To determine the effectiveness of various treatments, numerical simulations of eight different treatment strategies were performed. These simulations measured how much the concentration of immune cells, tumor cells, and normal cells decreased as a result of the treatment. Based on the numerical simulations performed, the application of the three types of therapy provided the greatest reduction (99%) in the concentration of tumour cells but also provided a significant reduction (68%) in the concentration of immune cells in the body.

Abstract

Solving fuzzy trapezoidal transportation problem can use a one-point approach to obtain the optimal solution. The one-point method transforms the four points of the trapezoidal number into crisp transportation problems. This method comes with a minimum approach of supply and demand. In the end, these solutions are combined to obtain the optimal solution. The modified distribution is applied to each crisp problem to develop an optimal solution. The presented scheme is compared with competitive methods available in the literature and found to have good coordination with these methods.

Abstract

Abstract

Intangible Cultural Heritage (WBTb) determination data in Indonesia is a cultural investment that needs to be preserved. One of the efforts to preserve WBTb is to determine the cultural preservation factors that influence the WBTb determination data in Indonesia. These factors include Percentage of Population Watching Performances/Art Exhibitions (PPWP), Percentage of Population Using Regional Languages (PPURL), and Percentage of Households Using Traditional Products (PHUTP). However, the different cultural wealth in each province results in spatial heterogeneity, resulting in differences in the determination of cultural preservation factors in each province. This determination can be done with the Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) model. This study aims to apply the GWR model with Fix Gaussian Kernel, Fix Bisquare Kernel, and Fix Tricube Kernel weighting to determine cultural preservation factors in WBTb determination data in Indonesia so that it can be known what cultural preservation factors are most influential in each region. The research findings show the existence of spatial heterogeneity only in the category of WBTb designation data for Performing Arts (PA) and Oral Expression Tradition (OET), as well as different GWR models in each province that reflect differences in cultural preservation factors. Evaluation with the coefficient of determination shows that the GWR model with the Fix Gaussian Kernel weighting function is the best model for the PA category.

Abstract

Abstract

This study analyzes the convergence patterns of Vertically Integrated Moisture Transport (VIMT) in the western region of Indonesia using the K-Means method with statistical weighting and Hierarchical Shape-Based Clustering based on Dynamic Time Warping (DTW). Daily data on specific humidity, zonal wind speed, and meridional wind speed from 2020–2023 were used to calculate VIMT. Clustering methods were utilized to identify grouping patterns in moisture transport data. The results showed that moisture convergence significantly increased during the rainy season (November–February). Using the K-Means method, five clusters with clearer separations were obtained compared to the four clusters produced by the Hierarchical Clustering method. Performance evaluation using Silhouette and Calinski-Harabasz scores indicated that the K-Means method was superior, with scores of 0.37 and 104.88 compared to 0.13 and 96.34 for the Hierarchical method. This provides an understanding of the moisture transport patterns, serving as a reference for predicting weather and climate patterns, thereby supporting efforts to mitigate the impacts of extreme weather in Western Indonesia.
